After reaching Germany I became vegan 🌱❤️Before I was vegetarian. Surviving is not a big deal in germany as I heard so many things that’s vegans can’t survive. Don’t have much options unlike meat eaters but still u can do wonders.

Thank you for saying this. All my friends and relatives have been scaring me that i will not survive there because I'm a vegetarian. This helps.

The attitude of a lot of Indian restaurant owners in big cities towards Indians is very bad. I hate it. I don't know what they think of themselves. However in small cities, I have found the owners to be very friendly.

So informative! And now after coming here I realise that what you're saying is so true. I'm a non vegetarian but I'm thinking of turning completely vegetarian and even eventually vegan, and here in Baden Württemberg I find soooo many vegan options :)

10% of people living in Germany have a vegetarian diet already which is one of the highest rates in the world, and it's increasing every year. It isn't hard at all to live a vegetarian lifestyle here. I personally reduced my meat consumption by 80% compared to 2 years ago but will still have an occasional Schnitzel along the way (I'm German after all). But most of the (way too cheap) everyday meat can easily be replaced. Meat surrogate products get better every year while the supermarkets increase shelve space for these products to accomodate the growing market.

Quite informative. But, I wanted to cross check something. Are "BREAD & CHEESE" not vegetarian food items. I googled and everywhere it was mentioned that unlike in India, these two things aren't veg food stuuf in Germany or in Europe in general.

Regarding winter - go South it is much sunnier there even in Winter than in West, North or in East. Regarding the food it is a bit sad - I had similar experiences, but I don't know why they do it. Just across the border in Switzerland they offer all kinds of variety of Indian stuff - all kinds of Haldiram stuff (frozen rotis, parathas), good ata like Ashirwad, and even pressure cookers and at times lower prices than I paid in Germany.
So it is definitely a lack of willingness - it would be great if some people take initiative to do it online (most of the shopping I do these days is just online) like here and ship Germany wide (they do it here as and using some amazing techniques to keep frozen stuff frozen across the shipping period). Generally these places are run by Indian families (especially women) here so that is probably the difference to those guy owned stores in Germany.

My wife and I both stopped being vegetarians sicve we have moved to Grrmany. I'm sure it is bit easier in big cities, but in smaller towns all you can do is to cook all yourself. It is not a problem for lunch, but not so practical for us when we sre at work. But it depemds of where your work is. Eating out in Germany always is very, very bad experience, if you don't go to Italian or some other non-german restaurant. You can find very nice places on amazing locations all over thr Germany where they just serve deep freeze food from supermarket and often is selfservice. Service is another awfull thing here. I have never experienced service as bad as in Germany. You often don't know is it selfservice or the weighter is just extremely lazy. I have thought that in my home country (Serbia) service is not often adequate, but now I think both service, food diversity and quality just cannot compare to the German. To bad as I really enjoy trying foreign cuisine.

@@cooking-the-world, I am not talking about the place we live. So, willage is not the problem. We ride motorcycle a lot all over Bavaria and surrounding German states. We tried food in warious hotels and restaraunds in amazing places in Alps or around lakes. Sometime we eat in the cities, usually looking for some sushi restauraunt with good reviews, but all are pretty underwelming and cannot compare with the ones we used to.
