I concur with other comments... welcome back. I sincerely hope your life is on the upswing now. We've missed your weekly videos. The MB 5 is definitely a half-baked (pun intended) light fighter plane. I flew it a couple of times and then have moth-balled it. The main problem is that it is tier 7 and as any serious player of WoWP knowns tier 7 is a very awkward and undesirable tier to fly as we get stuck in way more tier 7/8 battles than tier 7/6 battles and that is the problem of this game in general than anything else. I Also infrequently fly my Bf 109 K-6, the P-51J and my A7M just because I'm more likely than not going to be in the lower tier. And as you well know there are some excellent light fighter planes (such as my Spitfire XIV) and fun to fly planes (BV.P210 or J7W1) that just work better than the MB.5. WarGaming either needs to switch to all single tier battles so every plane is the same tier (which won't happen do to insufficient human players and their insane desire for "extreme rng") or they need to beef up the MB.5 firepower more. The quick overheat time isn't a problem as I tap, tap, tap the guns in my tier 8 Spitfire all the time to prevent overheating and it works super well. But the damage just isn't where it needs to be for enjoying tier 7/8 battles and unless Wg reworks the MM for more tier 7/6 battles tier 7 is not getting much of my play time.
First off, Welcome back Postal! It's good to see you back in the sky! As to WG's flavor of the week, yet another T7 light fighter. They seem to be in a rut lately on bringing out new premiums. What is this, number five in a row for T7? It sounds like an ok fighter and I'll probably put in my hanger to be a completist. But it will probably see less airtime that my Re.2005 unless I find myself really liking to fly it.
I wonder if the engine hitbox is bigger given the nature of the engine, resulting in more chances to crit. So much that is still buried in the game files that is next to impossible to pull out.
What I learned from Postal's videos is that if one has the time to "earn" the plane, then its and OK plane. However, nothing he states indicates that the plane is worth "buying".
I'm still pretty meh on this plane. However, after a little over 3 years playing I now have enough planes as well as experience (I wouldn't go so far as to say skill LOL) that I can actually complete these marathons (time permitting), and I managed to earn both Elise Clark and the Re.2005 without certificates. So for me getting it is more a matter of sense of accomplishment than absolute desire to have. For Brit premiums, I still like my Seafang, which is almost specialized.
@@PostalMonkey Kurfürst is a monster plane, it's broken. It's definitely not balanced by any means. Has 3x the 108 cannons of the Gustave (ok the wing mounted ones have less accuracy than the hub), overall it has more effectively concentrated firepower than the Zwilling! Burst length is also around 7 seconds. Corsair-like turn radius but it's actually better because of the strong rudder. It's very op.
@@PostalMonkey seems something happened between the MB.5 videos, the one before were okay-ish. And once more thank you for your work, the guides are awesome (and the commentary helps too)

I don't think this one is for me, given that I have enough premium planes, and those guns would just drive me insane. Great vid!
Yeah a lot of assists in this thing :P
Is your recording software working properly? looking a bit funky
Glad to see you back though :D
I saw that too. I'll double check the recording software going forward
I understand you don't have BF 109 -K? 😢 Fun plane much more than MB 5 looks like.
I do not have it, no. I've heard lots of good about the Bf109K tho
Great but not overpowered in my opinion. Great you are back
