@@topmandog1 Yeah definitely, i've never really liked KFC but theres not much choice for fried chicken here, or at least it wasn't now Popeyes is in the UK which is a million times better imo
I like chips. In Australia, fish and chip shops are popular! The chips vary in texture, but you get some good ones that has the crunch. There is also plenty of other seafood options like your flatheads and flakes, alongside things like prawns, calamari rings and even crab claws. The best deal to get with these places is the Seafood Baskets, the price is solid and you get nearly a bit of everything + some places add lemon and tartar sauce on the side. Of course, you can have a Salt and a No Salt option... but there is a third option that I know a lot of people in Australia will definitely add to their fish and chips order - *Chicken Salt* There is a humble history behind *Chicken Salt* , it is a chicken flavoured seasoning originally developed by a guy named Peter Brinkworth back in the 1970s in Gawler, South Australia. It was however not originally designed for fish and chips, nope... they were originally a seasoning for Rotisserie Chicken. The recipe was purchased in 1979 by the Mitani Group which was then now commonly used on chips. The original recipe was salt, chicken stock, MSG, paprika, garlic, onion, celery and some secret herbs and spices. If you are wondering how chicken salt and chippies got together, Peter used to run a retail chicken shop and he also wholesales frozen foods to fish and chip places which he adds his chicken salt creation alongside it. Someone at one of those fish and chip places in Salisbury added some chicken salt onto those chips and said "Oh, this is good". And it spreaded pretty fast to the point that a lot of people around the world have heard of Chicken Salt. Edit: If you are wondering... yeah, we sometimes do the chip butty in Australia. It is more of a thing you do for the occasion. To be fair, if you look at the history behind Australia, we can pretty much equally love and blame on the Brits for both of us loving fish and chips. The only real difference is that in Australia, vinegar on hot chippies is not something I heard of... even though we have a Salt and Vinegar flavour of bagged chips. I guess that is sort of good for hang overs or for cravings, but I imagined Salt and Vinegar being pretty much the Granny Smith Apples of bagged chip flavours. I do love my Granny Smiths, so... I can't blame that. I have been born and grew up here for over 20 years. So you can trust me on that one.
Chippy tea, chippy tea, I wants a chippy tea. You keep giving me posh nosh, it don't agree with me. I don't want lobster thermidor with a raspberry coulis, I'm a working man from Lancashire, I wants a chippy tea!
They forgot to compare fries from Jollibee US & UK! Jollibee UK has exclusives called loaded fries, which come in two varieties: Sriracha Chicken & Gravy Chicken
5:13 Yes we do? Creamy mash is what it's called, it's on every KFC franchise's menu in Cardiff at least. Also, chippy chips are usually cheaper elsewhere in the UK, think £2.50-£3 for a large, and a similar or larger portion too.
Depends whether the chippy uses fresh spuds or frozen chips. Potatoes over the last 5 years have shot up in price due to brexit and poor weather so most chippys that use fresh potatoes that they chip up themselves are at minimum £4 for a large. If they use frozen I've seen some sell larges for as little as £1.50. Source: I worked at a chippy for 9 years or so and have visited chippys from all over from liverpool, stoke, and newcastle to devon, cheltenham, and kent.
Agreed on both. I had KFC just the other day and got one of the boxes which includes a side and Mash was a option there, i don't usually get it myself as the combo of fried chicken and Mash is odd but yeah, its there and that is in Nottingham/Derby area's, both always have it. Same for chippy chips, i think its £3.50 for a large here, £2.80 for a regular and £2.50 for a small - they vary by chippy of course but that's my go-to chippy who are great for quality (there are cheaper options but yeah).
I ❤ love Harry & Joe!!! Yo my family talks about this every time we get takeout. We Frankenstein our perfect meals burger from this place fries from this place! Haha
Bradley Cooper had never heard of it and Sienna Miller had to explain what it was on Graham Norton. 😂 This was a while ago, so am sure many have opened since.
I think they mean that mash potato is the default side in the US, whereas in the UK it’s fries. I’ve not been to a KFC in the UK where they don’t have mash as one of the optional sides.
For the Five Guys section, it would be so much better if they had bought a portion of fries INDIVIDUALLY so they wouldn't have to regret not having the extra chips (or fries).
Aussie here - I personally prefer a thicker cut chip but I like the McDonald’s chicken burgers so I settle for the skinny ones Side note - the thing I always like about chip shops on the UK is how generous they are. The one near my aunty’s in Birmingham used to give me enough chips for £2 (I think, it’s been 8 years) for me and my dad
What about the Wendy’s Baconator Fries or WingStop’s Voodoo Fries?! Those are really good. I’ve always heard of peri-peri fries, but never had them. Might have to try and trust Harry’s word. Thanks for the vid! 🍟 👏 😋
In n Out fries are always soggy. Nobody raves about their fries😂. I prefer store bought. Also, that’s odd the UK doesn’t have mashed potatoes at KFC when they’re known for bangers and MASH. You would assume mashed potatoes would be everywhere
Per McD’s calorie counts, a medium fries should be ~40% larger than a small and a large should be 50% larger than a medium. It’s always going to vary based on who’s scooping the fries. A large McD’s fries should be about 1 1/2 scoops, but lazier workers might just make the largest single scoop they can make and call it a day. I don’t think corporate McD’s is telling them to skimp. I’ve definitely gotten some very full large fries there sometimes. Prices are also going to vary a lot by location. One of the weirdest price/weight things near me is Wendy’s chicken nuggets. 4pc is significantly cheaper per nugget than 6 or 10 and 6 is cheaper per nugget than 10, so getting 3 4pc is cheaper than 2 6pc or a single 10pc. Totally reverse from other places that get cheaper the more you get. I think my McD’s 40pc was more expensive than 2 20pc at one point, though.
i love this channel AND you guys but whoooo. i was all fried out halfway thru... it was like all the food commercials in between sports game halfs.. nauseating! hahah

The new spicy fries in KFC UK are a bit of a downgrade, they are overpoweringly herby when they should be a palette cleanser and you have a variety of dips and sides to dunk them in which is ruined by their strong flavour.
Would be interesting to see Black Rooster as well, it's a chain in central Scotland. They offer fries, curly fries and wedges all of which can have peri salt. Or Tim Hortons and Taco Bell's offerings.
Joe, Harry: Both of you need to get some better scales for weighing the food! Harry, you are using one that is close to what should be used but need a Bucket style for loose items. Joe, you are using one that, yes, is digital but has a flat surface, making it messy to weigh loose items. You can use a foil container and tare out the weight of the container to get an accurate reading. Anyone in the staff that weighs things out at home will understand the term "Tare." Note: let's face it HOT, FRESH FRIES ARE THE BEST! You both are eating lukewarm (at best) fries or stone cold ones. So you really can't compare taste or appearance to the real in store experience. But as for with price comparison most definitely, hot or cold they weigh the same. Great Job, Harry and Joe!
I love when Harry and Joe go out together LIVE to various eating places and we get their opinions. But these comparison vids(weight, price per serving etc) is not interesting to me. I live in Canada, i’m really sad that they changed the kfc recipe, it used to be greasy and filled with real chicken flavour, now it’s dry and bland with a real cheap seasoning used in McShaker fries, some might like it but it’s a huge downgrade.
