Love a cabbage I do! Never grown tomatillos though, what's the deal with them anyway? Like, are they just for pickling?
Edit: just looked it up 😅 salsa! Sounds good. Is that what you use it for?
Much respect for germinating the blackcurrant! Big win!

@@thegardenlikesdad tomatillos are great fried or turned into salsa. I love them. Have you fermented cabbage at all? That’s really good!

@Thecultivatingcurmudgeon I may have mentioned before: I have fermented chokos, and ferment chillis for tobasco sauce. But that's it! I really want to make kimchi, my Cambodian-born friend makes it from daikon tops, so will be using her recipe. Youbhave any recommendations? Also, how do I submit a $1 question and pay for it? Sorry was making dinner when watching the vid 😄

@ I have a couple of videos on fermenting veg including kimchi, not authentic, just my own shot, tasted bloody good too. The link to my askme page is in the TH-cam description area and they take PayPal. You would be the 1st!!!!!

@@Thecultivatingcurmudgeon I'll check out the vids you mention, if they're anything like the latest one on fermenting beets then I'm in like Flynn. Ok, have asked the question, and for the interest (?) of other viewers, here it is:
"I read (somewhere social media-related probably) that digging organic material (compost etc) into heavy clay soil is potentially not as beneficial as people (including myself) espouse, due to it being "locked in" by the clay soil sealing around it and not letting it off-gas during decomposition, therefore porducing a less than desirable environment for plant roots. Is this true/to what extent is this true?"
I too have a uni background and am a teacher, but hey if you're offering and have the time, I really appreciate this kind of service!!!

@@thegardenlikesdad I shall find out for you! I have some colleagues that are soil scientists (yes that is a real thing!) and I'm sure they will be able to tell me.
