The long awaited day has finally arrived! On June 13, 2024, Athiak's family announced the winner of the marriage competition involving two men from two different communities within Jonglei State of South Sudan 🇸🇸.
In a video posted on Liberty media's facebook page, the family announced that Athiak has chosen the Awulian community (which is where Chol Marol Deng Atem hails from) and that they support her decision fully.
The spokesman acknowledged Daniel Marial Garang, stating that the two contending suitors were great choices. However, there was going to be only one winner as Athiak could not be married to both men at the same time.
In addition, the spokesman told Daniel Marial (and his community Juor Koch) that they would gladly give him another daughter within the community should they be interested.
After the family announced Chol Marol as the winner of Athiak's marriage competition, congratulatory messages came streaming from family, friends, and relatives.

Why is it a shame? The principles are virtuous and beat today's dating and marriage patterns. How many marriages where people select themselves based on flimsy emotions really last? Marriage should not be an emotional decision, it's a partnership! A life, business, personal, finance etc etc partnership. This is how it should be done! Not after multiple sex tryists and abortions.

@@ambigjo3900 The girl chose. Go and read up the full article and ask those familiar with the story on ground. I have over 15 tabs open on my computer researching the story. Ultimately SHE CHOSE her first proposal who had the least items on offer. Both families research thoroughly the other and ensure all approved suitors meet the standards set and shelves then makes her choice. She has no problem with it and is happy but you who has no connection to her at all are carrying her water for her. Check your immediate environment to ensure your modern standards are serving you before helping those you don't know cry about their established life long standards that serve them and which they have no problems with.

You don't live in their clime, don't understand their culture, don't relate or know the male female relationship standards or allowance in their very rural community but yet you sit in judgement over something you don't understand just because it doesn't look like what you are used to. Why not look at your own life and the life of those around you and do a research on your own standards and how it's serving you and allow other humans set their own standards? Or do you think because their standards are not written and sponsored by white men it's somehow below par? SHE CHOSE who she wanted to be with and went with the first suitor who had the lowest offer. It's a small community and everyone knows each other and for a woman to have such suitors it speaks to her character and qualities. At the end she choses. It's same as an intelligent young female doctor having as much as five affluent suitors around her work and family background with them offering to build a hospital for her to practice in and she choses one. Only hers is publicised and attracts condemnation from know it alls. Do the research! Understand contexts before rushing into judgements.
