My first thought is, why would you want to reward bad behavior with giving him any kind of land? That is just empowering him to go further later. We must do whatever we have to do to ensure that he does not “ever“ do this again to Ukraine or anyone else. Taking into consideration what he has done in Syria, Georgia, and even Moldova, he has gotten a way with all of that and even more that he should have never gotten away with. We need to change our thought process. Instead of saying, as long as it takes, we need to be saying, whatever it takes!

What are you even talking about? In Syria Russia aided its ally that happens to be an internationally recognized government. In Georgia, per the EU commission, Russia reacted to Saakashvili’s provocation. With respect to Moldova, I have no idea what you’re talking about and neither do you. Transnistria has literally nothing to do with Putin.

Russia is taking more land by fighting how will it be possible to give it back just like that? Soldiers died war expenses then just to give it back!!!??? Fighting for Three years then give it back. The one who really need peace is Zelensky because his country is beeing captured ajd destroyed day to day.

    • @matsj6298

@ Russia is loosing soldiers, equipment money, trust at unsustainable way. Ukraine and Europe can continue the war until Russia is forced to capitulate and retreat. Germany was not a part in peace negotiations. Japan capitulated but became a strong and prosperous country. Imagine if Russia and it people would develop like Japan after the capitulation. That would be a win for the world!

Russia is a big country with a largest mass of land that is full of all types of resources. They are now on their way to turn into a self reliant mode to its maximum extent i.e. 70-80%. They are not dependent on western import regarding basic needs of their population rather many countries are importing and are dependent on them for their basic needs. This is the real bone of contention as most of the world's big corporations and financial groups have their eyes on Russian resources but Putin and his associates i.e. Russian corporates infamously named as Oligarchs are proven to be the biggest hurdle for them.

Lets break this down so it can be consumed easily.
Poland and the Baltics, Sweden / Finland all got their countries to NATO standard then asked to join. As was covered by DW News last night. Ukraine has one Brigade that is NATO standard and it is mostly made up of (foreign) former NATO military troops. The rest of Ukraine's military is Soviet. NATO will never let that in so stop asking. DW stated that even in that Brigade they use NATO versions of the documentation but have to make a Soviet version for command and the rest of the military.
Ukraine asking to join NATO is like me asking to join the PGA. I do not know how to golf.

Russia is a very poor and underdeveloped country who only has dictators or dictatorships for friends nowadays. It never really experienced democracy, its economy was tiny from the beginning, now crashing, its superpower status gone forever, youth and smart people running to safety and those who remain are victims of kremlin propaganda. Russia can barely handle their war on Ukraine. Now they have to find 'soldiers' who they treat worse that rats from places like north Korea. Sure, russia is still dangerous, which is why they must be stopped and prevented from attacking sovereign states ever again. But too powerful? 😂

The most important thing now is for all Ukrainians to speak with one voice and for that voice to be heard as loud and clear as possible. It's understandable that many will want peace at any cost now, but what will the long-term effects be? The ruzzian frozen assets must be released to Ukraine to rebuild its infrastructure without delay and asap, the longer it takes the greater the chance it will be handed back to Putin. SLAVA UKRAINI!!!

    • @occamraiser

You say that as if giving the money to Ukraine wouldn't be stealing. The money in European banks is governed BY LAWS and people who put money into banks are the people who get to take it out. This money has been frozen NOT confiscated - there are no laws on anyone's books to permit confiscation....don't you understand? or don't you WANT to understand? We can freeze it forever - but we can't just take it and give it to our friends for a big party.....that's embezzlement.

STUPID STUPID STUPID comment. Allowing Ukraine into NATO is a DeFacto declaration of a real 'hot' shooting war between 4 nuclear armed nations. ARE YOU INSANE? Russia can't be trusted it has to be beaten or allowed to win. But NATO without America would be far too even a war for my tastes....and America IS NOT a reliable ally - don't fantasise that they are.

For which part of Ukraine should NATO membership exist?
If only for the "not yet occupied" part of Ukraine, than Ukraine can't take back the occupied territories by force later. Because that would mean NATO involvement!
NATO membership is a pipedream, a senseless PR move by Yermak / Zelenskij only. There are countries which oppose Ukraines NATO membership even out of other, sensical reasons, like missing structures and standards, mismanagement, corruption, as well as distrust. There's no way for Ukraine becoming NATO member, not as long as reality is like it is!

Excuse me, but are you insane?!
No Ukraine made the right choice to stay independent, the main reason why this current mess is going on is because the Russian population is and almost always was poorly educated.
Had they had better education then they would have seen through Putains propaganda(lies) and he would only have been elected once and no more.
      But that's but a fairytale..
      No the furthermore 3 major reasons why we're in this current mess is;
#1: Mutter Merkel and her cozying up to Russia and her advocacy for Nordstream 1&2.
#2: The world's pathetic inaction against Russia in both 2008 and 2014, that showed Putain that he can do whatever the hell he wants to his neighbouring countries.
#3: The worst and most problematic reason why we're in this current mess is because of both Europe and the U.S. pussyfooting anything AND damn near everything given to Ukraine.
All these restrictions are a perfect, textbook really, example of why you *DON'T* let politicians dictate what happens and doesn't happen in a conflict, especially a war of survival..
It's just like what happened in the Vietnam war, it went straight up and then down through shit creek because of politicians doing what they do best, overcomplicate things that *absolutely* should *NOT* under *ANY* circumstance be overcomplicated!!
