When I rode this ride, I couldn't scream! I tried, but no noise came out. If you enjoy drop towers, you will love this! This isn't my favorite because drop towers aren't my favorite.
I always thought that the clone at Movie Park Germany was the strongest of the drop towers I have ridden. It is nice to hear that someone with as much experience as you can confirm that :D
Iv heard many say this os their favorite drop tower. The park already has a fantastic coaster collection but this drop tower is just as good as half of those coaster. The intense drop as well as the intense tilting makes this ride.
This ride is very near and dear to my heart. I worked at SFOG when I was in high school for 2 seasons (2000 and 2001). We got Deja Vu and Acrophobia or Acro as we called it in 01 and I was supposed to be opening team for Deja Vu, but anybody that knows anything about that ride knows maintenance has always been an issue so it did not open until late summer. Acro opened in may so they sent me there instead. Feb-May I was at Batman, Mindbender, Free Fall(my favorite), Log Jamboree, GA Scorcher and Cyclone). In those days Acro was always full cue. Hour to two hours or more and we often had to build outdoor cue line that went down the hill. So it's always funny to see how short the wait always is. Like you said in the video, down times were common. In the beginning they couldn't get it to rotate going up and at the tilt at used to happen like a last minute abrupt push. I could tell you stories for days between people getting sick, passing out, crying, etc etc. Another fun story. In the beginning we were not allowed to use that microphone/PA system. It was strictly for emergencies. By the end of the season we finally got the ok because of the guest reaction and how much fub it was to us. We used to get in trouble for being insubordinate by some managers lol. So for anyone that loves that, you're welcome. Great video as always!
I love when drop towers tease guests at the top. The best are the ones when the ops say the ride is broken and they'll get us down soon...and then they drop you.
As someone who has been going to SFOG since the late 90s, this is one of my all time favorite rides. It used to be open all the time but recently it’s very hit or miss. You definitely weren’t unlucky it’s just very unreliable. The lines used to be crazy back in the day but now it’s almost always a walk on.
I'm guessing you rode this recently....I live in Atlanta and...the tilting feature changed over time. The original form only tilted fairly suddenly after you reached the top. The later tweaks had you tilt slowly outward as you neared the top--perhaps starting 2/3 of the way up. Are they back to a top-only sudden tilt? Because that was completely and absolutely terrifying. Some people would always be screaming full tilt from that point until the tower landed.
The stand-up section of Apocalypse at Drayton Manor is absolutely terrifying; The cars tilt just before you leave the station building, so you go up while facing the ground! I haven't done the floorless stand-up section though, maybe I'll be brave and do it this year...
@@CanobieCoaster I'd recommend trying to visit this year if you can, as Apocalypse is actually for sale and the park said late last year that it will be staying for only a couple more years. Drayton won't be the same without it. 😭
This was closed when I went years back... but looking at it, that seems like one of the fastest drops I have ever seen. 2 seconds for the entire drop. That's crazy.
Most Intense drop tower ive been on so far is the New one at Ikon park in Orlando. It was insane, the height was good and all but the power of the drop was amazing!
Personally I'm not a fan of the stand-up floorless seats, it really bothered me, which is weird because I've never been bothered by any stand-up coaster. It's my least favorite drop tower I've done, but I'll be willing to give it another try next time I visit
The gut punch is so intense on this one. My home park is Movie Park Germany so I rode High Fall a few times with the first time being the most gut wrenching.
I've only seen it open twice. One time, it had a huge line. The other time, I rode it, as there was no line, but it broke down soon after. I didn't know it was a stand-up until I got on. It was a bit of a ballbuster for me, so I was not able to appreciate it, nor did I even notice any of the forces, being distracted by the discomfort. However, I would probably do better with it the next time, but I can't have an opinion on this until then.
@@CanobieCoaster I told my friend i hated this ride but i really liked it. I slammed into the seat at the bottom and my tailbone hurt extremely badly for a few minutes, but overall it was a good time.
what do you think impacts the freefall sensation on different drop towers? Ive always wondered why they all have different “butterfly stomach” feelings, even though they all are freefalls
I've always wondered the same thing. I find the Fabbri Mega Drops the most intense, even though they are very short in height. I'm guessing the drop mechanisms have something to do with it as well.
I’ve wondered that too!! for me the drop sensation is far more intense on acro than on fear fall at islands. but fear fall is less scary and more fun to me as well. so maybe that makes a difference. i know it’s also a little bit shorter.

There is kinda a warning for the drop. If you hear a hydraulic "pss" sound, it will drop in 5 seconds. This is my home park and I have ridden it multiple times.
This does look a good forceful drop tower. I've not done any in the US yet. I really enjoyed Highlander and DonJon for the height, but I think Scream at Heide Park might have been more powerful. Which of the 3 do you like best?
This will probably be hard for me because I just don’t generally enjoy drop towers in general they freak me out all except for tower of terror which I will ride just for the dark ride portions
Over Georgia is my home park, and I love this ride!! But I was 9 the first time I rode it, and they sang ring around the rosie which terrified me 😭 also you're not just unlucky lol Acrophobia is ALWAYS closed

I don’t go often, quite rarely actually. But every time that I’ve gone, Acrophobia has been running. It’s a must for me on every visit!
One of my Top 3 Drop Towers alongside Falcon's Fury and Drop Line at Dollywood.

I rode this in 2016 and 2020. Both times, I believe it had the sudden tilt at the stop as the rotation concluded.
Rode the version at Movie Park Germany which is exactly the same and I definitely enjoyed it for being very intense and full of airtime.
That one wasn't tilting when I rode it, but I still enjoyed the seating position.

Most of the stand-ups don't give airtime or weightlessness, which is different with this.

The gondola didn't tilt for me on High Fall, but it was still intense in that riding position.

FalconsF is my favorite. Not a fan of having my balls crushed. Also hate stand-up coasters for same reason. Good video
