Matt several years ago the strike 2 light which is the one just to the left of the one which got broken in this video was broken the same way with a batted ball.
@@chadrides914 The ball getting stuck is not the only point of this video. Matt said that he never seen anything like this happen. I'm just telling him it has happened before.
Reminds me of a Cubs vs Astros game in Houston in 2001, I think. Moises Alou hit a ball that hit the outfield wall and bounced in a weird way where it bounced over the outfield wall and they called it a home run, but if it got challenged with instant replay today, it probably would have been a ground rule double.
Fenway maintenance crew has to get their act together, such a historic field and its falling apart. Jay's CF Kiermairer sliced his arm open on a wall there a few days ago. There shouldn't be unmaintained areas on the field of play, especially things that will slice your arm open and require stiches.
@@machine2477So youre ok with players getting theor qtm alived akd possibly getting sepsis or something? "BoO HoO" makes ypu soubd ret@rded or intellectually lacking.
Now I am a Cubs fan and I love nostalgia as much as the next guy but this seems like a real simple fix. Why aren't the lights recessed and a actual protective glass covering them, flush to the wall?
There have been some goofy plays at Fenway lately. I love the quirkiness of the park but they should take measure to prevent this type of incident. The light cover should be made of something unbreakable. Kevin Kiermaier is currently on the DL because he cut his arm on an iron gate that should have been sanded smooth to prevent this type of injury.
What a lucky play there!! Lil thing on fans possibly interfering from time to time by reaching over and catching balls when theyre technically still in play!? Good way to stop that would be to remove seats that r that close to edges of walls!? Make it so its bot possible for people to reach over!? Put up a lil bit of a fence or wall or just railings to make it so its not possible for people to reach over into feild of play!?
That has been the method in gymnasiums throughout the land, in the old days when I grew up. Better would be what my comment was, is to just recess the lights and flush mount a protective glass.
I listened and watched it twice. I READ and hear you say that Red Sox got out of the inning?? They weren't on the field. Isn't the team on the field the team to gets out of it because they were baserunners jeopardizing their lead?
So nothing will be done until a player’s face smashes into glass and is horribly injured. Maybe sever an artery and bleed to death in a few minutes. A unique baseball statistic for sure. Murphy’s Law has already been broken twice. Surely the odds of another similar occurrence have diminished greatly, right? Does MLB have such clout over OSSA? How about the player’s union? 👎👎👎

Saw a rat run behind the catcher at Wrigley
The "Green Monster" got hungry and ate the ball..........
😅😅
I remember a ball getting stuck in a beer cup that was on the field in early 2000s. Trot nixon was the right fielder for the redsox.

Don't play the game then...boo hoo, Mommy, I need a Band-Aid and a kiss

I feel like that should count as -1 out. The scoreboard goes from showing 2 out to 1 out, that must be the ruling
Lmao it's only fair

I’m thinking a taller player it in left field may have had a chance at making a catch. Definitely one of the stranger things to happen at Fenway.
Went to the game the day after, Fenway staff told us the light cover is made of glass and we saw it was fixed before the game. Wacky play
We've never seen this before because that ball probably would have been caught in any other era.
Tanaka?you mean yoshida 😂😂
Lol didn't realize I said Tanaka. Must have watched Major League 2 last night lol
I was looking for this comment 😂
FYI it’s not Tanaka in left field - it’s Masataka Yoshida
Need to put a little cage around the lights to bounce off of instead of breaking and swallowing the ball

Damn.
Im surprised the Monster has electricity. haha
I KNOW you didn't say "hitten". What is that?
Should have been caught
1 in a million?
Cover the lights with flat plexiglass. It isn't a museum, it is a playing field ffs.
😮😂

I know it's weird, but the yellow jerseys are the Red Sox.
Are you kidding me?..if that ever happens again it should count as two home runs 🙄😂
Nice video but I never in my life ever heard someone say baseball is a game of inches. I have for football but not baseball
Any game with a ball and lines, or even just lines, is going to be a game of inches. Otherwise why have lines?
that looked p gross
