If anyone didn't know, People of the Pride is actually a song they had written for Viva La Vida album but shelved it and came back to it for this album!
Great reaction! Another long time fan here, definitely agree with your review. Coldplay as a band are at a stage where they just love the feeling of being connected with the "humankind". Chris mentioned in the Live 2012 documentary that at the end of all their concerts there is a spider web of connections and they love that feeling. Ever since Mylo Xyloto, I think Chris has changed his approach on song writing. He tends to write a lot of songs and melodies keeping performance with an audience in mind. I think this is why albums like Everyday Life and Ghost Stories were not toured, they were personal and private experiences. As a fan, however, I love all their colours. Truly a blessing to listen to any song from them!
The more you hear it the more you like it, it’s a solid album without doubts, the best Coldplay album? NO, the worst Coldplay’s album? NO, it’s a fun thing to hear
All I wanted was a fun album, I’m glad my simple expectation was met. This is indeed a fun record. People that are hating on Spheres need to chill out. The album is far from their best, but we got the epic Coloratura out of it which makes up for any letdowns. My top 3 are Let Somebody Go, Human Heart, and Biutyful. I don’t care for Selena, but she’s real chill on the track, I don’t mind her at all. The lyrics really tugged my heart, watery eyes. Love the stacked vocals, and I for one love Biutyful, from its quirky spelling I knew it would be a fun song…it is!
I agree with you on the expectations point. I feel like the expectation I had for this album was met, and Coloratura was exactly what I needed to really make me feel satisfied.
As a long fan of my favorite band Coldplay, I think this Album didn’t disappoint me at all, I loved it from start to finish, ever since the 2010s people were having mixed feelings with their new music but no matter what anyone says, these guys don’t miss for me, this is one of the best Albums Of The Year
Yep you are so right... London concert last year was amazing. This was my third concert and they certainly ramped it up in spectacle. It got pretty serious and full on though when Chris thanked everyone for coming and I said to a random guy we were standing beside that, yeah, we came from Australia to see them. Because I was essentially shouting one of the official staff called me over (we were down the front) and asked if we had come from Australia just for the concert... Next thing, after the show, we were escorted away and out the back somewhere we we got to meet the band. Cant even describe the emotions. It was so unbelievably amazing and they were so nice. Even after such a whopping performance. They were so SO nice. There were quite a few other people pulled from the crowd as well, couple of young kids who's birthday it was that day. The band sung happy birthday to them. One of life's memorable experiences...
This album is so good. I've legit heard shittest songs by some renowned artists lately but idk why coldplay gets all the hate when they don't even deserve it in the first place. They're so talented and this album is an example. From Coloratura to MU to LSG to POTP. This is so gold
You are so damn right, I’ve been reading hate for this album all the way since it came out and it doesn’t even deserve it. All the artists that are on the top 50 global make definitely worse songs than any song on this album. I still think Coldplay was better in their rock era but man.. comparing today’s music with Coldplay’s.. Coldplay is just 100 times better and people don’t get that.. they just hate for no reason.. and that’s sad. Love coldplay!
@@backgroundstv1634 fully agreed ! Coldplay is one of those artist who's still making good music. Let somebody go is such a beautiful ballad. Altho Their Spotify ranking is 9 don't get why people still hate on them
Mostly because the songs are mostly bland and cheap who doesn't try anything different. Except for Coloratura, which is quite infurating, because they CAN make good music like this, but rather prefer doing all this shallow garbage.
I obviously love Everyday Life more, but MOTS were not bad either, i can say i enjoyed it more than AHFOD. Definitely a solid album to their already amazing discography!
Humankind became my fave the moment I heard it! It’s just so sincere (like all the other songs), and for me it means they’rennot giving up on the kindness that’s left in the world💙
Hi Shelby -i ve only just bought the album -so haven t had time to listen to it properly -can see a lot of trance remixes from this album -sounds very nice from what you ve played!
I really love this album, even biutuful, yap, I know that's your least favorite, but I like the color of the sound of that song. Coloratura, for me it's really the perfect song to end the album, it has a special meaning for me, coz a month ago a lost a friend, he was my dog, but he was not only a dog, he was family and always he'll be, and that song reminds me to him. Anyway, I hope, as many here, listen this album on a live show. It will be massive! Thanks for your reaction! Greetings from Perú.
I don't agree with that...for any artist, it's important to remember that everyone evolves, and their music can change. Obviously, each listener is allowed to have preferences, but it's wise to remember that musicians are human and allowed to shift/change over time.
Chris has a magical voice since his first album ❤️ Im obsessed with each and every songs and albums of him like x and y parachutes everyday life and everything that he made ☺️ I feel so blessed that we have Chris in our life 😊
I 110% agree that the band had the word "concert" in their minds while creating this record. There are several times you can hear crowds cheering and chanting (the first two seconds of 'My Universe', the track '♾', which just features a sample of an actual crowd chanting with them [look up 'Life Is Beautiful' or 'Don Quixote']). It's not necessarily a bad thing, but I miss the days they made an album just to make an album, ya know? However, that track 'Humankind' is definitely a great song. Reminds me of the Viva days, or early Mylo Xyloto- like a 'Charlie Brown' or 'Strawberry Swing' vibe. Anyway, great video! -- a fellow long-time Coldplay fan :)
I like your review.. BTW are you reviewing the new moon music album.. Be nice to hear your take... Thanks... I know some of their music but getting into them later rather than earlier and can see hear they've changed a lot... Thanks anyway great review mots.. 😊
I took people of the pride as a crash back to soild Ground from the space feel. And the message in it was just SO GOOD. Him live with this song was everything for me. He was IN IT 🤣😍
Really good reaction, I agree with your thoughts, how Coldplay has evolved since their early days in 2000! In minute 18:56, that's the chant "olé olé olé" that Latin American people know very well, you can hear it in "God Put a Smile upon Your Face (Live in Buenos Aires)" th-cam.com/video/5gTTxNeDB6E/w-d-xo.html Coldplay has fallen in love with their Latin American fans during the A Head Full of Dreams tour in 2016-2017 so I see the Infinity Sign song in MOTS as a tribute to their Latino fans, we are waiting for them to come back again here!
Biutyful kinda reminds me Of Frank Ocean’s Voice filter on Nikes + The Beat Is also Like some Of his work which Is Nice i Don’t Mind This song as much as everyone else
One thing that might help is reading the cool story notes on Spotify for each song it gives more context, and it really helped me understand the whole album/concept much better as I was listening to the album.
Well People of the Pride is a reworked version of a demo from the Viva Era called The Man Who Swears but also this song corresponds to the planet Ultra which is where the silencers from My Universe is from so that's why it very different and why it's dark. I actually like Biuytful, much better song than Cry Cry Cry which also features the same alien character when she was called Angelina but now called Angel Moon, there is a theory that it's Jacob Collier that singing as Angelina/Angel Moon rather than Chris like what most fans thought back in Cry Cry Cry because Jacob is actually part of the writing credit for Cry Cry Cry as well
I love it, but I felt it listened more as an EP instead of a full length album, I also found the transitions to be really jarring and didn't flow well into each other.
Hey shelby, been really enjoying your videos. Idk if you've heard of James Blake, but he recently dropped an album, and its absolutely beautiful. If you haven't heard any of his previous work, this new album might be his most straightforward album. But that doesn't take away from how good it is. I definitely recommend it.
I think it’s clear why My Universe is the lead single that Coldplay is promoting the most. The other tracks are good don’t get me wrong but they didn’t wow me the same My Universe did and yeah it’s partially bc I’m an Army but even if I’m excluding that aspect out of my listening experience it stood out the most. I also absolutely love People Of The Pride!
Everyone is doing a review of Coldplay's newly released Music of the Spheres but you know what would be more interesting if you guys did a review of their unreleased songs. Look up the song "The world turned upside down".
I loved this album!! I went to listen to it because I saw that there was a partnership with Selena, which I like a lot, and I ended up falling in love with several songs. I've been listening to some of their other albums and I can't wait to see them at a concert. Coloratura, People of Pride and Let Somebody Go are my favorites! P.S.: I absolutely loved ur reaction and I would love to see you listen to Selena's album 'Revival'. Its very good!
