You could try out the old Kone lifts @ Peace Centre..especially those 4 @ rear podium...known for frequent breakdowns, trapped inside call the Kone service it takes them 40 mins to come to attend !?! Lousy lifts !
I think someone tried to do something with the lifts which has the safety forward of the interlocks instead of behind (i opened the doors of a lift from outside the lift, not succesful without key but managed to emergency stop the lift, which is for pranking. luckily it did not go out of service and..... they did not alarm.) ive even did this inside a lift (i thought they have interlocks) and i was shoked. I know that beno sayed some lifts go out of service, but it went to nearest floor.
+133travelguyIndo 8 I really have no idea what have caused it to stopped very abrupt but it felt like the lift hit something near the 5th floor. Maybe something tripped one of the safety devices? I don't know. It was very scary, luckily the cables didn't snap and the lift returned to the lower floors. This was the worst experience I've ever had in a KONE lift, well maybe not just in a KONE but the worst one in my six years of lift filming.
+IDLift3000 (2 years ago) I don't think that's the case. As with what most people say Kone has some really hard brakes which stops the lift really violently when it emergency brakes. No I don't think it's likely that the cable will snap due to that. Chances are the lift have emergency braked at least a few times before you were here and did not require repair (probably just a typical safety error, which is something like how your computer crashes once in a while and doesn't actually need repairs), or electricity cut..

Jadi aku waktu itu ada rencana mau turun ke lantai G kebetulan ada event jejepangan di bawah (disana waktu itu ada dua event sih; yg satu di bioskop nobar One Piece yg satu lagi di atrium bawah). Nah pas mau turun itu ya kasusnya sama kayak gini, pas sampai lantai dasar (klo g slh) tiba2 liftx berhenti mendadak dan lampu OOS menyala lalu setelah itu kembali ke lantai 3. Aku sm slh 1 orang cewek sampai akhiry lari begitu keluar dari lift lalu ditanya sama slh 1 penjaga stand makanan di lantai 3
The lift was originally a Schindler M-series (when the building was completed ~1994) but was modernised by KONE in 2013. No clunk probably because the building was built before MRL technology came about, so it was built with lift motor rooms - which would probably insulate the 'clunking' sound of the lift's brakes from the cabin. Unlike the passenger lifts these (service) lifts never had S-series floor displays.
@Zhi Han Lee Yeah the passenger lifts had S-Series hall indicators even though the rest of the fixtures were M-Series, but the service lifts were the complete opposite. Very strange.

It almost sounded like a safety brake... and yes, u were lucky to get out. Sometimes there could be something in the shaft at a certain point that could cause fails at certain floors.
ecodisc? not good for emergency stop. ive been in this situation (because of my stupidness by opening the doors) I think it is trying to reset by going to lowest floor. ecodiscs are supposed to level to nearest floor in these cases

if this happens in shopping mall, wherever there is a public lift with loose safety, then its probably some kids trying to open up lift doors. I hate lifts with loose safety, it makes me feel unsafe.

I just noticed that it was on level 5 and when it banged it got to 4?
The lift was actually on level 4 when it banged. This is because the next floor number was displayed quicker than the actual floor the lift was on.
at 1:13-1:16 is banging 💥💥💥💥 so funny and not nice
