It’s horrible when the last game of the night is 501 doubles and everyone is trashed. It can take all night to finish up with everyone busting on the double 1.
Van Gerwin would have finished, gone home, seen his wife, seen his mistress, woke up, done the school run, entered the next tourney, and won it, by now!
Adams in his prime was very, very good tbf - always made the latter stages of PDC tournaments when he played them. Had he made the switch he could've won a fair few majors and we may even be talking about him as one of the greats of the game.
Adams was great in his day. A 3-time WC and England captain, certainly good enough to have had some success in the PDC if he'd switched. This leg isn't really representative of his ability, it's hard to raise your game when your opponent is as bad as this.

I used to take the mick out of the BDO a lot when it was around, especially in the 2010s, but now I really miss it. It was sad what it became, the last few years were genuinely embarrassing, but even in the 2000s it was good quality. It coming on after the PDC was welcome.

He is actually a really good player that could certainly compete with PDC's greatest. He was a high representative of the BDO though and has always made it clear that he supports the BDO and would never voluntarily go to the PDC.

The funny thing is that he's still better than my mates and me. Usually one of every 10 or so throws doesn't even hit the board, at least he does that consistently 🎉

I know what it feels like, I’m a fairly good player and I remember one night playing in a league for the first time and my arm felt so heavy that I struggled to get it in position to throw the dart, needless to say I played terrible! It looks to me as if Fleet has that exact same feeling here!

Fleet just froze on his first big leg on a big tournament. Adams being the older and more experienced competitor was willing to take it easy and build it up as the match went along. I remember Martin Adams bigged up his opponent that night in a post match interview knowing how tough it can be for first time players like Anthony Fleet that day.
