    Prof Kelley, you are a savior. I have been trying to understand this concept since yesterday and was on the verge of giving up after 10-12 hours of trying. Was struggling since these are quite new to me. But you have made it so easy to understand and I think I would continue with further analysis on this. Thanks for this..

    When using a software program such as SPSS, the p-value is automatically calculated for you. Alternatively, there are websites where you can provide the Chi-Square value and the degrees of freedom, and they will tell you with the p-value (e.g., do a web search for "p-Value Calculator for a Chi-Square Test").

    Quick question - Assumption 3 states that each category needs to have at least 5 occurrences, yet there are only 4 for No... is this wrong or am I wrong in my interpretation?

    What is the function of chi square in Excel? I used CHITEST and it gave me the p value. But how to calculate the chi square itself? CHIDIV and CHINV need weird values.

    we should publish the results even when results are not significant.

  • @barakameek
    @barakameek 10 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    you said at the end if you get to reject your null then you get to to publish your data. this is find but a major ongoing issue with science is people not publishing when they dont get to reject the null. a negative result can be just as useful be it less interesting for the scientific community.

    Thank you for the explanation, with respect but the example here appears to make little sense, as it is obvious to conclude from the observed values that there are more students who work than who don't, why would it be necessary to use Chi-square test in the first place?

    You Fail to CLEARLY describe what the null and alternative hypothesis is. You should have a slide for that.
