Def Leppard’s “Love Bites” or Great White’s “Save All Your Love.” You should definitely get into Great White’s music catalog if you haven’t already. I’m pretty sure you would enjoy the music and the bluesy guitar work of Mark Kendall. He’s an underrated guitarist for sure.
It was July 2 1987 I saw Whitesnake at the Hirsch in Shreveport, La. They opened for Motley Crue on their Girls tour. I can still remember them playing this song live. Great song. I enjoy your guitar 🎸 covers a lot. Good job. How bout Home Sweet Home by the Crue? Hi from Louisiana 🙋🏼♂️😄🎸💯‼️
I actually liked your guitar playing better I’ve watched a few videos about this album and a lot off them we’re critical of the reverb and over production on it.
I think I am a bit late to this video, but luckily I found it. Emily, you play so well. I also gotta say, you look absolutely beautiful! Congrats on both!
Well covered. It's interesting that you are playing Steve Via's JEM because for a while he played with Whitesnake. Keep up the great work! Remember, "when words fail music speaks!"
Emily, great job! It's fun hearing you progress... As a big John James Sykes influenced player, I recommend you check out his stint in Thin Lizzy (Thunder & Lightning album) and before with his stint in Tygers Of Pan Tang (Spellbound,...). Also, he has some great work from his post-Whitesnake days in his band Blue Murder (songs - "Valley Of The Kings" & "Jelly Roll"). Let me know later... Take care & God bless... 🔥🎸🔥
Most definitely! I can't put into words how much I love that guitar! It literally does anything... any music I've ever worked on or written myself has been on that guitar
Hey, it's John, I just watched you nail is this love,I was your age when this was on the radio, every 80s band you could think of, you have big shoes to fill because your speaking for the 80s, and you are absolutely doing it right, you are making a lot of people proud!!!! great job, keeping me and so many people feel young again, thank you!!!!🤘
Like 3 is MINE 💪🏽🦾... the HARMONICS are not "only beautiful"... it's hard to put all the technical details together... including the HARMONIC and CORD CHANGES... with all that said... WELL DONE... 💪🏽🦾👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Not sure what you do and don't know about that era, but John Sykes the guitarist that wrote and played on most of this album was fired by Coverdale right after the album was complete and before the tour. Sykes still won't speak to David to this day. However, John went on to form another band called Blue Murder with Tony Franklin and Carmine Appice. They have 2 studio albums and if you're looking to do a deep dive into 80's hard rock, both albums are amazing. They had a hard time finding a singer, so Sykes took over vocal duties as well. They had 2 decent hits 'Valley Of The Kings' and 'Jellyroll' that did well on MTV, but they got very little label support. Both the self titled disc and 'Nothin' But Trouble' are WELL worth the listen if you love Sykes tone and playing. Very nice job on the cover as well. Amazing progress for the short period of time you've been playing.
You might also want to get the CD Bad Boy Live...Sykes playing & singing his White snake cuts as well as some of his Thin Lizzy tunes he wrote with Phil Lynott.
Emily, my suggestion to you is ... forget about trying to look good, because you are already good enough. Now, you're ready for the next stage (and challenges) ... becoming a great guitar player. Not a female guitar player, but a guitar player. Period. I am going to check often to see the progress. Rock on!!!
Sick. I’m a huge Dokken fan, can you do “It’s Not Love,” or “Nightrider,”. I love that you have an “In My Dreams,” cover not many people have one. God bless.
Wow! I immediately fell in love with your playing! Great job! Your picking is great and I love those harmonics! Your an inspiration and your positvity is great as well! Keep it up!!!
I think it is so cool that you love 80's rock music. I graduated in the 80's. I have a 21 year old son that plays guitar too. I told him to check out your channel.
The algorithm pushed your video my way... Very inspiring, you make it look effortless. I just started playing electric myself, (though I've been playing acoustic and harmonica) a little lost on the fret board with lead, but having fun with it. I'm and old guy so Sleep Walk Joe Satriani would be sweet, I actually like the Santo and Johnny version, as well, but Joe makes it sound like velvet.
Oooo! Not too often I run into another John Sykes fan, man’s an underrated monster of a play through Tygers of Pan tang, Thin Lizzy, of course Whitesnake and where his writing I think is shown best, Blue Murder. Also doesn’t hurt that he influenced me to buy a black Les Paul custom 😂 great cover! Got the right melodic feel Sykes has which is hard to get right. Would also love to see you cover Cryin in the rain. Such a fun but hand killing solo 😂
I got to see Whitesnake in concert either late 80s or early 90s. They put on a good show. Joel Hoekstra playing guitar with a violin bow blows my mind. You should try that in one of your videos 😁
If you hear the chorus of this song one time you could get hooked. “House of Pain,” by Faster Pussycat. A go to is “Silent Lucidity,” by Queensrych. WARNING, I would not attempt “Purple Rain.” That’s on a whole different level. Keep finding songs you enjoy and bring happiness. I’ve got a list I’m pretty sure you would enjoy but I’m trying to keep this brief. So many good ones out there!
Emily wow you played that so beautifully this is one of my all time favourites & also the solo one of my all time favourite solos.!!!! wow I got a tear that was so beautiful & you are so awesome girl.!!!! 🙏🔥🎸🤘🏻🫶
That was awesome! Love the guitar, and of course you look amazing. I think David Coverdale would be impressed by your whole persona. In late 1986 or early 1987, I met some new friends who were playing “Love Ain’t No Stranger” in their car, on a tape deck. I think cd’s didn’t come out until 2 years later. That’s when I was introduced to Whitesnake and immediately loved their music. John Sykes guitar solo on “Crying in the Rain” is so good, and difficult to play. Also love the lyrics on that song. I’m sure you probably heard this whole album, which has 2 major hits with the song you just played and “Here I Go Again.” I think it was the rock/metal magazine Hit Parader that had “Still of the Night” as the best rock song of 1988 by the fan voters.
Thanks! I love all eras of whitesnake! The insane lineup changes over the years caused there to be many different sounds of the band but I love them all🎸🤘😁
@@guitarbyemily What do you think of Steve Vai as guitarist? I personally don’t like his guitar work as much as John Sykes with Whitesnake, but Steve is an incredible guitarist, and I love his solo work. He’s also adds a lot of flair and style, including in his guitars.
@nitro_001newman2 well he is my all time favorite guitarist and pretty much the entire inspiration for me playing! I just love everything about his style and personally is my favorite player that was in whitesnake! No disrespect to Sykes he's amazing, but I love vai!
@@guitarbyemily Wow, So it was actually Steve Vai, who inspired you to play guitar. The reason why I like Sykes better on the Whitesnake album is because he has a European guitar style that blends better with those songs. Vai is more unique though.
