- Flaperons Setup for the Spektrum DX6 and AR620
In this video I will go over a complete set up and demonstration of flaperons for the Spektrum DX6 transmitter and Spektrum AR620 6 channel receiver.
Flaperons combine the functions of flaps and ailerons. They are often used for STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) aircraft. Flaperons are very easy to set up with today's computerized transmitters and any RC model airplane with strip ailerons. In short I will fully explain flaps, ailerons and flaperons and how they can benefit the RC airplane pilot.
You will need two separate servos for flaperons, a minimum of a six channel receiver and a six channel computer transmitter. Once the flaperons are set up, there is nothing more to do. The flaps and ailerons will function normally every time to turn on your transmitter.

Thank you, so helpful! I’ve been away from RC for a long while and have kind of forgotten everything. I have a spektrum AR620 and a spektrum DX6E. I have the manual for both. But the manual for the AR620 doesn’t give you any hints at all about how to do this properly. Not even a guide to which pins for which servo. That’s just plain nuts. I’m setting up a Libelle DLG with flaperons and I had no clue how to do it. So you took me right through it and everything works perfectly now and thank you so much.

Excellent Information on the General Use of the Computer Radio Function to program the separate Servos.
I am just getting into 3D Printing Airplanes. I have yet to actually complete one; but I am learning a lot from your Videos and from Troy McMillan's videos.

I agree about spectrum receivers I have tried some of the other cheaper ones and end up pulling my hair out trying to get them to bind but never had a problem with spectrum

How about setting the flaps to work with the ailerons to make full width ailerons? Do both flaps and ailerons have to be on their own channel , as in 4 channels, or can the ailerons remain on a Y lead? I only have a 6 channel Tx and Rx

Many thanks for your excellent info. I have tried it on the new XFLY Twinliner using a Spectrum 630 with SAFE. Once I disconnect one of the ailerons & into channel 6 the Flaperons all work after reversing the flap system but the right aileron does not operate in SAFE mode only the left aileron works in SAFE. Any ideas? Do I need to use a 'Y'Harness? Hoping you can help. Regards

Hi Tim. I just set up flaperons following your video with a DX6 and an AR630 receiver. After testing everything, I find that port 6 doesn't provide AS3X or flight mode to my left aileron. How can I fix this please?
