I don't know how true this is but I've heard that reactions to the live show where they announced their new members and their new album are not being blocked.
Imagine being in her shoes. Like, yeah you're in some kind of successful band, but tomorrow you'll sing for Linkin Park. And in two weeks you'll tour the world standing infront of filled stadions, instant world famous. That's some movie career jump.
The way Mike explained how they decided on Emily makes it all make sense. Totally organic. They were just jamming with different people for fun, and they just gradually realized "You know, when we're making stuff with Emily... I really like what we're doing with her." They hadn't even really decided to continue on as "Linkin Park." They just liked making stuff with Emily, and the rest came later.
Also, Mike added that he realized "This sounds like Linkin Park". And as to the part you referenced, I think one thing people forget is that the personal chemistry between the band members is paramount to things working out. Even if you could find a person who sounded 100% indistinguishable from Chester Bennington, if he was not compatible in terms of the personal relationship to the other band members, then it would fail hard.
After seeing 15+ Reactions and all of the hate Emily is getting, im so glad that someone finally understands that its not a replacement for Chester. Its a new era and Chester would be so proud. I am extremely happy, I am also emotional because like you, Chester was a huge part of my life, but they picked the right woman to continue to carry his amazing legacy forward, I believe it I am going to highly recommend you watch the interview on their TH-cam channel with Zane Lowe, it explains a lot of how this came to be and it gives you a real in-depth conversation with everybody from the band and it is really an incredible watch
So glad my favorite band is back! Linkin Park is the reason why I got into Death metal,Black metal,Grindcore etc. Chester is the reason why I scream. Emily has a great voice maybe she will scream too😊
I'm 55 so probably not the typical viewer. What's nice about being older is that life experience helps one separate the bullshit from what's truly valuable. I'm not aware of what the controversy is other than what I've seen/heard in a few comments and I'm not at all interested. All that matters to me is that a GREAT band is getting back on their feet with an awesome vocalist who I know nothing about other than I absolutely love her voice paired with LP. Yes it's strange, and yes I still miss Chester, but her voice blends very well with Mike and the song speaks to me just as old Linkin Park and DeadSara songs do. I also love what Mike said about Chester's voice coming through the audience, she is not a replacement, just a new member and Chester is still in the band personified by the crowd. The amount of cancelation attemps being done over the fact someone was born into a little bit of a shady religion and straight up giving someone shit even though she clearly doesnt live in line with a lot of these values of the religion (being gay publicly for example). As someone that grew up being scrutanized over the decisions my parents made and being judged by the label that was put on me from birth, I really appreciate it.
Lyrically, this could mean so many things, but I'm starting to feel like it was purposely written and released as the first single as a response in anticipation to the backlash that they probably all assumed would be coming from a portion of the internet. Or, it could be her disavowing the scientology thing. Or both. Or neither. Only her and Mike really know.
You know what I love remember how when the runaways came out and Joan Jett and how they were received by male audiences ‘girls’ wanting to rock it’s just an unheard of thing… Watching this chick kick ass and then watching all of the reaction videos that are headed up by men who are absolutely delighted in her talent who have nothing but good things to say CRYING when she hits the scream sing…Seeing the reception and seeing how far we’ve come ( even if we will always have further to go) … I LOVE that. How it should be. She IS killer… no doubt. I’m just stoked about it in a broader context.
Emily does a great job, I've been watching original livestream, when Emily showed up I was hesitant at first, but when Mike talked to the crowd and introduced everyone, especially the role that Chester role that is each one of us there, I changed my way of thinking, that it might be something new and exciting that we're entering and we have privilage to be witnessess of it, great reaction, waiting for more!

The hybrid theory was the first cd I ever bought. I saved money for months. I wanna say I was around 11 or 12. I've been a huge fan ever since. I've probably heard this song 20 times. It still gives me goosebumps. Great choice. She has an incredible voice. She can do Chester justice on the old songs while starting her own chapter for the future. And it still sounds like LP. That's all I wanted

I think what made me emotional hearing this was that I was ready to let go of that Linkin Park in 2017. That I'll never hear new songs that are like hybrid theory/meteora songs ever again. But when I first heard this song...this was it. I couldn't believe I could hear new LP songs that are very LP. It's like I was transported back to my childhood. Like you said, LP got our whole generation in a chokehold lol
I remember watching the live stream and it was so weird especially listening to the old songs being sung by her but as you said she is great and it is a new start. I still had to listen to some old songs with chester afterwards though to get rid of that weird lump I felt in my throat after that live stream ^^
Did you see the show after the livestream, the second concert (the 2-hour one)? Though she did fairly well , she was a little shaky in the livestream (but I know that's due to nerves, her voice not being subjected to that kind of pressure before, and whatnot) she sounded WAY better in the second performance they did. It was a joy to watch and hear. Emily crushed it.
That the album is called "From Zero" is a triple entendre. The Bands original name was Xero. Incidentally, "starting from zero" means to be starting over or starting aknew. Calling the album "From zero is simultaneously acknowledging how far the band has come from its origins as Xero in the 90s, acknowledging the absolute low(absolute zero if you feel punny) of losing Chester, and finally the act of starting a knew with Emily for this next chapter.
Its amazing how many people have forgotten how bad Linkin Park was treated their past few Albums. People need to stop putting Chester on this pedestal. He is definitely my favorite vocalist of all time. Meteroa and Hybrid Theory dropped when i was in high school. Ive always been a hugh fan including their electronic stuff. I like her no fs given attitude. So much better than weak man I'm in pain, feel sorry for me Chester. The band certainly did not feel sorry for itself and moved forward in a much better direction.

I've been a fan of both Linkin Park and DeadSara for many years, and this is like two of my favorite bands banged an angel on a ferris wheel and had a baby. So excited for this new era!

@@petainaja3753 When I first saw the headline that she had joined I was intrigued, but as soon as I heard the new song I was totally on board. Yes it's strange, and yes I still miss Chester, but her voice blends very well with Mike and the song speaks to me just as old Linkin Park and DeadSara songs do. I also love what Mike said about Chester's voice coming through the audience, she is not a replacement, just a new member and Chester is still in the band personified by the crowd. Absolutely beautiful.

Hi, I just subscribed to your TH-cam channel because I appreciate your expertise and today I found that your music sounds very musical. The reason I’m here is because I know your reactions and this was the first time you have shown Linkin Park with many emotions since "lost". I love people who can honestly show their feelings and today I see your reaction from Linkin Parks return in new format, to mention especially the Emily. I also saw your short video when you were accompanying the new song with Emily. After all the mostly positive reaction videos on the internet I am particularly impressed by a sentence of yours when you said: please be kind. Each of us has a past, but we should leave the past and look ahead. We should appreciate the many good things and if you are successful, you should give it to the artists heart-heartedly, actually I was not as close Linkin Park fan as many here, but I as a music lover have learned Linkin Park, since Emily is the new singer, the new era I like and the past with Chester I can hide well although I like some tracks of LP very much. I know since " Rammstein " also a very good metal singer who I had met on TV at a competition, the voice of her is similar to the voice of Emily only that this singer plays German music and they call her " Elli Berlin "
I absolutely love your reaction. Also thanks for being a little based in all the controversy about the whole scientology stuff. The amount of cancelation attemps being done over the fact someone was born into a little bit of a shady religion and straight up giving someone shit even though she clearly doesnt live in line with a lot of these values of the religion (being gay publicly for example).
As someone that grew up being scrutanized over the decisions my parents made and being judged by the label that was put on me from birth, I really appreciate it.
Lyrically, this could mean so many things, but I'm starting to feel like it was purposely written and released as the first single as a response in anticipation to the backlash that they probably all assumed would be coming from a portion of the internet. Or, it could be her disavowing the scientology thing. Or both. Or neither. Only her and Mike really know.
I don't think Emily repeating "I just wanted to be part of something" was a coincidence.

You know what I love remember how when the runaways came out and Joan Jett and how they were received by male audiences ‘girls’ wanting to rock it’s just an unheard of thing… Watching this chick kick ass and then watching all of the reaction videos that are headed up by men who are absolutely delighted in her talent who have nothing but good things to say CRYING when she hits the scream sing…Seeing the reception and seeing how far we’ve come ( even if we will always have further to go) … I LOVE that. How it should be. She IS killer… no doubt. I’m just stoked about it in a broader context.

Emily does a great job, I've been watching original livestream, when Emily showed up I was hesitant at first, but when Mike talked to the crowd and introduced everyone, especially the role that Chester role that is each one of us there, I changed my way of thinking, that it might be something new and exciting that we're entering and we have privilage to be witnessess of it, great reaction, waiting for more!

As much we all loved Chester and we all know he can’t be replaced but in the end no punt intended lol Emily is the new generation of Linkin Park and I’m all for it the music will never die as long as the band is happy to continue. Big respect to Emily and Mike. R.i.p Chester he would been so proud that his legacy continues on.
The hybrid theory was the first cd I ever bought. I saved money for months. I wanna say I was around 11 or 12. I've been a huge fan ever since. I've probably heard this song 20 times. It still gives me goosebumps. Great choice. She has an incredible voice. She can do Chester justice on the old songs while starting her own chapter for the future. And it still sounds like LP. That's all I wanted

no matter the person mike and the band pick people would find something against them also Chesters son coming out against her is something crazy yes Emily has a past but who doesn't and the whole scientology thing isn't a big deal to me. scientology is a cult but that can be said about all belief systems. LP is Mikes band so it all comes down to him and he and the band looked like they had so much fun on stage. really hope people give Emily a fair shot and she doesn't decide to leave because of all this.

I think what made me emotional hearing this was that I was ready to let go of that Linkin Park in 2017. That I'll never hear new songs that are like hybrid theory/meteora songs ever again. But when I first heard this song...this was it. I couldn't believe I could hear new LP songs that are very LP. It's like I was transported back to my childhood. Like you said, LP got our whole generation in a chokehold lol

I remember watching the live stream and it was so weird especially listening to the old songs being sung by her but as you said she is great and it is a new start. I still had to listen to some old songs with chester afterwards though to get rid of that weird lump I felt in my throat after that live stream ^^
Did you see the show after the livestream, the second concert (the 2-hour one)? Though she did fairly well , she was a little shaky in the livestream (but I know that's due to nerves, her voice not being subjected to that kind of pressure before, and whatnot) she sounded WAY better in the second performance they did. It was a joy to watch and hear. Emily crushed it.

That the album is called "From Zero" is a triple entendre. The Bands original name was Xero. Incidentally, "starting from zero" means to be starting over or starting aknew. Calling the album "From zero is simultaneously acknowledging how far the band has come from its origins as Xero in the 90s, acknowledging the absolute low(absolute zero if you feel punny) of losing Chester, and finally the act of starting a knew with Emily for this next chapter.

Its amazing how many people have forgotten how bad Linkin Park was treated their past few Albums. People need to stop putting Chester on this pedestal. He is definitely my favorite vocalist of all time. Meteroa and Hybrid Theory dropped when i was in high school. Ive always been a hugh fan including their electronic stuff. Its been 8 years its time to move on. And im getting a Minutes to Midnight vibe.
