The relationship between Soyeon and her members is really fascinating. By all accounts she is more like their boss nowadays but it feels more like a team that has absolute trust in their leader and follows her whereever she points the finget to. I mean, the results speak for themselves, how could you not trust her. In addition Soyeon rarely is not working. The members always complain that when they have a day off that Soyeon is not going out with them or doing "fun" stuff. She is an absolute workaholic. Her days "off" are spent composing and writing music. Minnie told in an interview that she has problems writing music on tour unlike Soyeon and had to crunch time write her songs on this album between their end of tour and the recordings.
I agree with you. Soyeon's relationship with the other members doesn't seem to suffer from her being the executive producer of the group. They trusted her from the very beginning with the songs Soyeon made for them and it was indeed the right decision. And Soyeon trusts them in equal parts as Yuqi, Minnie and even Miyeon now added more and more of their own songs to their discography. Soyeon's involvement in the development of the group gives them a lot more agency than they would have if someone outside of the group were doing it. They are grateful for that as they said in previous "i-talk". Btw, she appears less frequently in them and I suspect it is because she's always working on what is being done during concerts/MVs/shootings and such.

You fell in love with this group just like I did 2 years ago. I am a BLINK before anything else. Obsessed. Then I saw Tomboy and was hooked. Now my wife thinks I might like (G)I-DLE more than BLACKPINK!!! She might be right! They are so unique and talented. Love that they kind of do their own thing. Soyeon is a genius. They are all badasses. Saw them live at Madison Square Garden last summer. So much fun.

They do what a disc company does for any musical artist in the music industry (accounting/promotion/arrangement/distribution/etc.) and let the creative freedom to them. Standard in the western music and imo should be the standard in kpop. (G)i-dle has fought hard for that freedom, but they have the best position in any company for a 4th gen kpop girls group. They wouldn't have been the (G)I-DLE we love if they were under a different company.

Love your reactions and glad you're covering more than the MVs. Said this in other places, but the amount of interaction idols have with their fans via videos was one of the first things that caught my attention starting out on Kpop. Western artists tend to be camera shy if not outright hostile. Korean artists, on the other hand, have been constantly recorded since their trainee days and it's no big deal being photographed while they're working. They know this is a way of communicating with their fans and letting them know they're always thinking about them. This is one of the reasons groups develope such passionate fanbases. With so much of their lives recorded, you get to see them as they really are, both as focused professionals and as goofballs relaxing after work.
The girls paid a lot for the stage, and paid I think half of the bill ( Which was around 1.1billion Won -> 820k $ ), and Cube paid for the other half :') People were scandalized that the girls had to pay for it, since it should be Cube's job. Soyeon spoke about it in an interview. And yes, (G)I-dle is cube, and cube would be dead if they didn't exist :D

LoL They literally paid for half of the MV budget out of their money. That's how useless Cube is. Every Neverland is counting down the days til their contract expires so they'll be finally free. There's a huge expectation that Soyeon is gonna open her on company bc she has stated way back that she has that ambition. Also, the members (especially Shuhua) are always shading Cube and talking about wanting to leave. Cube's handling of the Soojin situation was the worse and I think it permanently damaged the members and the fans relationship with Cube. I'll be absolutely baffled if they renew the contract by the end of it.
There's no way they don't renew their contract with Cube imo. They sometimes joke about it, but it's more of a running gag at this point. First because of copyrights (artists all over the globe get screwed when they leave their music company), second because Soyeon is a shareholder of that company, third because they wouldn't have that much freedom in another company. And personally, I would be really sad if Soyeon create her own company now (probably in the future she will though) because then she would have so much more work that at best she would not be able to interact as much as she does now with the other members and at worst she would leave the group. And I say that with a lot of respect, but a lot of nevvies think and hope they won't leave Cube (at least on Reddit). And are you sure about financing half of the music video, I'm sure she said Cube financed it all in the Knowing Bros episode, but I may be wrong on this one.

There's a huge expectation that Soyeon is gonna open her on company bc she has stated way back that she has that ambition. Also, the members (especially Shuhua) are always shading Cube and talking about wanting to leave. Cube's handling of the Soojin situation was the worse and I think it permanently damaged the members and the fans relationship with Cube. I'll be absolutely baffled if they renew the contract by the end of it.
There's no way they don't renew their contract with Cube imo. They sometimes joke about it, but it's more of a running gag at this point.
First because of copyrights (artists all over the globe get screwed when they leave their music company), second because Soyeon is a shareholder of that company, third because they wouldn't have that much freedom in another company. And personally, I would be really sad if Soyeon create her own company now (probably in the future she will though) because then she would have so much more work that at best she would not be able to interact as much as she does now with the other members and at worst she would leave the group.
And I say that with a lot of respect, but a lot of nevvies think and hope they won't leave Cube (at least on Reddit).
And are you sure about financing half of the music video, I'm sure she said Cube financed it all in the Knowing Bros episode, but I may be wrong on this one.
