    Break ends: 3:31:18
    Great episode! A lot of helpful revelations, and great background noise to have an emotional breakdown to!

    If the party is doing a sneak attack, they still roll initiative normally, but the players roll Stealth instead of perception
    And then, the PCs start the fight Undetected to all enemies who’s Perception DC is lower than the pc’s stealth roll!
    This still sort of creates a surprise round, because even if an enemy wins initiative, if the player’s stealth rolls beat the enemy’s Perception DC, they’re all still Undetected, meaning the enemy might have to waste multiple actions Seeking just to find them

    So, there were several rules things that could be pointed out, but I want to say that I'm loving this series so far. I adore Eberron and Pathfinder 2e, so seeing you play like this is great. The characters are amazing as well. I can't wait to see more.

    On RAW, as I understand them, if anyone is interested:
    Surprise round: don't exist. When creatures (PCs or not) roll stealth for initiative, if they were not detected before and their initiative result is higher than the perception DC of their enemies, they enter combat with the Unnoticed condition. If previously detected, but stealth roll beats perception DC, they enter combat Hidden.
    All depending on existing cover.
    The first round goes on normally and if the other creatures roll higher initiative than the unnoticed creatures they actually go first but don't know there's anyone there, they just know something is wrong and can use the Seek action, or draw weapons, etc.
    Anyone that does not roll stealth, or if the initiative (stealth) roll isn't higher than the perception DCs of the enemies, is automatically noticed.
    Cover bonuses counts for initiative (stealth) rolls. Without cover creatures can't be hidden/undetected/unnoticed.
    Additionally, on the first round of combat, if the Rogues roll stealth or deception for initiative, creatures that haven't acted are Off Guard (Flat-footed) to them (Surpise Attack class feature).
    But you may play as you want
    =)
    Love the show. Rules don't mather for that.

    Wow, such a great show guys! I’m really happy to see that you’re trying pathfinder out!
    Idk whether you’re checking the comments section under the stream recordings, but there is a couple of rules notes:
    1)As far as I’m concerned, produce flame and new weapon ability from flaming star is indeed have unlimited uses. If it’s not it should’ve been mentioned in frequency property, like in other spells in greater versions of flaming star. Moreover most of cantrips gained from items usually unlimited, so it seems like no exception in the rule here.
    2) Frightened condition gives status penalties to almost everything: saves, AC, attacks, spells DC - not just skill checks (that condition is actually pretty scary!)
    3)Bows has deadly trait, which adds additional damage on critical hit, this additional damage is not doubled with other crit damage tho
    4)If I get it right, Beerbot have armor with bulwark trait, unfortunately, it does not add bonuses to saves against trip, disarm or other DEX-based actions that apply some conditions - only for DAMAGING spells and effects
    5)When player has become unconscious, his initiative moves before the creature on which turn it has been knocked out
    6)About penalties for ranged weapons in melee - some weapons have volley trait, which apply -2 to strikes on the mentioned distance (or shorter - look at the longbow, for example). In other cases, there are no limitation on these strikes.
    6.1)But, as you’ve mentioned, ranged strikes triggers attack of opportunity, as well as standing up, crawling (god bless poor creature that have been drop prone near the guy with AoO), reloading, draw a weapon and many other MANIPULATE or MOVE actions (be watchful with traits overall - it’s one of the system design pillars)
    7)If Stick is using Animate dead spell, RAW there is no need for him for a body to do that (however that aspect is veeery flavorful, I really love it), but he should sustain it every round, so his zombie doesn’t pass out (again). Although maybe you use your own homebrew spell and it work differently, so that was just my assumptions.
    Don’t want to seem like rules lawyer, I just remember how hard that was for me to comprehend all the rules at the beginning, so want to bring some clarifications. Hope you find them, useful😊

      Aren't all talisman single use, though ?

    • @simonwhitelake5246
      @simonwhitelake5246 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@professeurgideere5856
      Yep, you're right, all talismans are single use indeed, however flaming star is spellheart. Here is the description of spellhearts from the Archives of Nethys:
      "Spellhearts are permanent items that work similarly to talismans. You affix a spellheart using the Affix a Spellheart activity, which is otherwise identical to Affix a Talisman. The limit of one talisman per item remains-an item can have one spellheart or one talisman, not both. When casting a cantrip from a spellheart, you can use your own spell attack roll or spell DC if it's higher. Crafting a spellheart requires the spells the spellheart can cast. For example, a major five-feather wreath requires air walk, gale blast, and wall of wind."

      @claudiolentini5067 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is an archetype from Blood Lords (Reanimator) that gives the undead you summoned via animate dead a +1 status bonus to attack rolls, saving Throws and AC if you use the spell on a well-preserved corpse
      That could be a great dedication for Stick

  • @zTom_

    By the way, the Nat 20 bumps up the result of the roll by one degree of success and the natural 1 lowers it by one degree.
    So Jacob's Nat 20 being, when it comes to the total compared to the target's AC, a normal hit would be upgraded to a Critical Hit.
    That's especially important for repeated strikes once you remove the MAP (Multiple Attack Penalty): if the AC is say, 19, you roll a Nat 20 and even after removing 10 you still just hit 19 after adding your modifiers, it's still a Critical Hit 👍

    Gonna say it here : PF2 implies A LOT that every party has at least one person able to use (and probably specialise in) medicine to recover between fights.

    • @andrasbonitz3491
      @andrasbonitz3491 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Also: it assumes that this medicine skill is used to heal everyone to max between encounters. Due to the Wounded condition, you do not want players to yoyo with dying.

    • @ecothunderbolt257
      @ecothunderbolt257 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It doesn't necessarily need to be medicine. My own players have a Druid with the ability to do those checks via Nature.

    As a GM and a player of PF2e system I have a piece of advice for both the GM and the players: PF2e - is a heavy rule system, so do your homework and study what your character can do in and out. Skills, feats, trait, ets. This will improve your performance at the table, and you will have way more fun! All skills have different applications and actions, and all the have different outcomes. Say, Intimidation as a skill can be used to Demoralize foes in combat, and in every day life you can use it to Coerce your foes to your will. And much more like this.

    • @kokirikid817
      @kokirikid817 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      God I hope they followed your advice moving forward. They make pf2e seem so clunky and unnatural by showing up at the table knowing next to nothing. GMs especially, but players too owe it to themselves, their party and in this case the audience to know what's what. Miserable

    Loving this series, definitely fun to watch a group of friends mess around and play games together. Plus Eberron and PF2e has been a dream of mine to run so this is great for inspiration.
    Rules wise, I'd highly recommend How It's Played channel. It has bite size videos answering almost all of the questions that came up during stream. It's great for players and gms alike!

    One of the most entertaining PF2e shows I found so far. Many of them focuses on either rules or roleplay too much and you are just having fun sitting atound the table. Pleasure to watch.

    If I had a nickel for every TTRPG actual play that I watch that came out today where a party interacted with a Docent (spelling?), I'd have 2 nickels.
    Really enjoying this campaign. I'm not big on grimy characters with a penchant for crime, but Jack's narration and monologue have really pulled me in, like a good book, and the comedic back-and-forths of these characters is just too charming to ignore. Love it all, looking forward to next fortnight.

    nat 20 and 1 are not auto crit but they do increase/ decrease the degree of succes
    so a nat 20 that make a succes is upgraded to a crit, a nat 20 that result in a failure is upgraded to a regular success. And same goes with nat 1s, if you critically succed with a nat 1 (like if a level 20 character were to fight a level -1 goblin) you would be downgraded to a regular hit

    I might be missing something but, unless the stats on the overlay are wrong for Severin (or if there's home-brewing afoot), the character is set up to fail as a Gunslinger class? 🤔
    Firearms do negligeable damage outside of Crits & Gunslingers are all about landing those crits as well hence why their DEX is their primary stat & needs to be maxed out in priority: every +1 is vital in PF2 to get that +10 above the AC that triggers the critical hit.
    As things stand, it's a bit like building a strength based Wizard in 5e: little of what your class offers will ever work properly if INT is your dump stat.
    Unless Jack allowed Grace to use INT as her attacking stat, things won't really work?
    Not to tell youse guys how to have your fun of course but just pointing this out as this could be stemming from lack of familiarity with the system. 🙂

      @IceCarRider ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Do I miss something, or 8eer-8ot has the Automaton ancestry ? If so he must be of Warrior Automaton Heritage. I wish he would take a Reinforced Chassis ancestry feat to bump his AC up to 18 when his not Raging due to free Medium Armor (+4 item +1 Dex cap).

    • @professeurgideere5856

    Fantastic live play guys! Here are my constructive rules reminders feel free to ignore.
    On Sneak Rounds:
    You roll Stealth for initiative, and if hidden can surprise attack. After this use initiative order.
    On Rage:
    Yes you become fatigued after exiting rage. I believe you need to wait 1 minute or 10 rounds to rage again.
