  • As the United States confronts a critical choice between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, how do Australians view our security ally? Have Australian perceptions of China changed? What should the government do about climate change, and do Australians support renewable and nuclear energy?
Now in its 20th edition, the Lowy Institute’s flagship annual poll is the longest-running and broadest survey of Australian public opinion on the world. For two decades, it has revealed changing attitudes and played an influential role in the public debate on foreign policy.
Join us in Sydney for this special launch of the 20th edition of the Lowy Institute Poll.
Dr Michael Fullilove AM, the Executive Director of the Lowy Institute, will deliver some opening remarks.
Sarah Ferguson (moderator) is the multi-award-winning presenter of the ABC’s flagship nightly current affairs program 7.30. She was previously a foreign correspondent in Washington, DC and presenter of the ABC’s investigative program Four Corners.
Ryan Neelam is the Director of the Public Opinion and Foreign Policy Program at the Lowy Institute and the author of the 2024 Lowy Institute Poll. He previously served as an Australian diplomat in Hong Kong and at the United Nations, New York.
Richard McGregor is the Senior Fellow for East Asia at the Lowy Institute. He is a former Beijing and Washington bureau chief for the Financial Times and the author of numerous books on the Chinese Communist Party and East Asia.
Susannah Patton is the Director of the Southeast Asia Program at the Lowy Institute and the Project Lead for the Asia Power Index. She formerly worked in various Southeast Asia-focused positions in the Australian government, including in the Office of National Intelligence.
