if you haven't played pentiment yet, go play it. i finished it back in january and i still think about it daily. my pc was having issues with random reboots every 10-20 minutes while i played it but i powered through regardless. one restart actually corrupted my 25ish hour save file and i had to do open heart surgery on the game's save system to restore my progress. it was worth it.
cool guest! JESawyer is one of the most talented directors in the game industry...piecing together New Vegas over the course of only 18 months is absolutely insane it just makes me kinda sad how Bethesda is killing the Fallout series when it could be doing so much better with him and Obsidian
Good news! Well not all good, but good for this case, Microsoft now owns them both and is wanting more studios to work on the IPs, and are going to be releasing more info soon.
listening to sawyer describe their game reminded me vividly of the creator of *_Ambition: A Minuet of Power_* describe their inspiration process. and now, on the off-chance that chris reads this comment, i NEED YOU TO KNOW that i would pay _good money_ to watch you and Matt play a dating sim based during the French Revolution _purely_ for the available political machinations of player character Yvette Decaux. truly S-tier content on the table here folks
I know Pentiment is wildly different from New Vegas, and the medieval/religious vernacular can be a bit offputting at first but if you like F:NV this is ABSOLUTELY worth trying out, don't rob yourself of this experience. You have so many opportunities for roleplaying and your choices genuinely matter and change how people of the town look at you.
@@hegaliandialectics4289 Kind of? Pentiment doesn't delve as deep as DE does, (although i think that might just be a consequence of being a bit shorter), but they're both fantastic games, i really enjoyed both of them, and they're pretty similar in the broad strokes (Pretty much everything to do with Andreas' dreams really resonates with some of the stuff in DE), but yeah, i'd definitely reccomend it.
@@hegaliandialectics4289 i think if you liked disco elysium you would probably really enjoy pentiment. pentiment's got a really strong focus on very long term consequences for things whereas in disco elysium's kind of zeroed in on that week. the main character of pentiment does get to deal with gutting feelings of guilt and regret and i think the game is even able to generate genuine horror and fear at different points. act 2 is basically just a pot bubbling and bubbling until an explosion becomes inevitable and it personally made me so anxious that i genuinely felt sick seeing how little time i had left towards the end. there's a ton of great characters in pentiment too, and you get to see them age and have children and die unlike disco. you end up knowing literally every single person who lives in town and because of that even characters you consider minor at one point might end up being way more than that down the line. the presentation of pentiment starts off as a delightful novelty but very quickly starts being used as an incredibly powerful instrument for conjuring complex emotions out of relatively ordinary situations. it's brilliant, i cant stop thinking about the the game's clock.
Patrolling the Holy Roman Empire almost makes you wish for a reformation.
I will literally download pentiment right now because of this. Sawyer has got the juice, the greatest Falloutoid to ever live
We looooove Fallout; New Vegas, don't we folks?
We loooovvvee it!!!

For real. Did you love Hell On Earth? Did you love dialog choices of FNV but cranked to 11? Play Pentiment, now!

Many thanks to the creator for including HISTORICALLY INFORMED music in a period game. Sincerely, a renaissance lutenist
