Ive been running v1 (not pre filled lines) of this unit for over a yr now and its freaking awesome. Saved me 700kwh in solar last yr. Makes great heat at 15f. Im in Pa
Moved to 2 Prime Mini Splits and it cut my power bill by 100/mo. I have a large house and 2 full hvac systems. These will run you out of the room, chilled, and are so quiet. More efficient than a window unit.
Nice. My home is old with uninsulated walls. The air handler unit and ductwork is in my unconditioned attic. I'm paying over $237 to keep my home at 82 degrees with fans running. Not happy. I'm excited to have my 9k btu minisplit installed next week. It going to cover my living and family room. It's embarrassing to have company over and it's 82 degrees inside
I installed one of those 9k BTU 38 SEER mini splits at my girlfriend's house. 1700 sq ft. Heats the entire house in the winter. Cools the entire family room kitchen/dining area to a comfortable 78 this summer at 112 degrees outside. Back bedrooms reach above 83 degrees. I'm in 9b climate. Have 4000 watts worth of off grid solar with 3 eg4 lifepower batteries. 15 Kwh. Running the 38 SEER. We added an additional 9k 21 SEER unit in a back bedroom. And a 6000 BTU window unit that pulls 600 watts. All off grid summer and winter.
I have one of these still in the box in my garage, going to install it in a nice new wood framed 10'x12' shed. I figure it should keep an insulated 120sf cool pretty well.
I bought the 12k unit for my shuttle bus rv build. I plan to run it with a bluetti ac200L power station, which has 2048 wh. I also have 1100 watts of solar on my roof. Going by your review, this eg4 will work really well for me.
At 950 watts your unit is drawing 7.917 amps, which exceeds by 2 the rated current of 5.97 amps. You state you wired the unit into a 15amp breaker, whereas the manual calls for a 20amp breaker (minimum circuit ampacity listed: 19.05 A). What wire size is on the circuit? Maybe it is running an excessive length inducing a voltage drop that causes the unit to draw more current.
So this is NOT the hybrid one that directly runs on solar panels, correct? I went to order your book and the site said "Not Secured". I don't risk my personal info on an unsecured site. Where else can I purchase your book safely?
Do the Right Angle mounts connected to your siding/studs come with the unit? If not, where/what do we specifically purchase them? Is there anything else we need other than electrical stuff?
What would you say it uses over 24h cooling on a hot day? Trying to decide if this will be a good fit for a tiny home I want to build on my property in the Caribbean! Thanks
@@roatanbound2023 my estimate is on a 95 degree day, with decent insulation, and in a room that is the proper size for it, you’d be looking at 5-8 kwh’s over a 24 hr period keeping the room at 70 degrees. If keeping the room at 76 degrees I’ll bet it’s closer to 3-6 kwh’s over a 24 hr period.
@@unpluggedtexan Thanks! Just curious, are your measurements from the product spec sheet or actual measurements from product itself? Asking since the EG4 12K hybrid is only 37" long. Thought is was strange the 9K indoor unit it larger than the their 12k hybrid unit. So just wanted to verify.

Yeah but there isn’t one with that Seer rating that has the lines precharged with refrigerant. So you’ll have to pay a ton for install unless you do the vacuum pumping yourself.

Yeah it will heat and cool that in no time at all.
I have two of the 1 ton units that use direct PV in or regular 120 volt. They both work flawlessly!

Jack of all trades master of none, though oftentimes better than master of one.

It’s only the landing page that is not secure. Once you click on the purchase button it takes you to a secure checkout page.
And no it’s not the hybrid version. I already run 100% on solar so the extra cost for the hybrid doesn’t make sense to me.
Do the Right Angle mounts connected to your siding/studs come with the unit? If not, where/what do we specifically purchase them? Is there anything else we need other than electrical stuff?
No that doesn’t come with it. Give me until later today and I’ll add the items I used for the installation as links in the description of this video.
When you say that it runs an average of 250w overnight are you saying that it runs .25kwh/hour?
Correct

i read if you put it on ground the outside unit you will get less noise
I don’t hear it from the inside of my home at all. When I’m outside you can hear a hum. But that’s it. It’s very quiet.
You should strap the extra line horizontal under the condenser outside.
Actually people should learn how to cut copper tube and flare the end. Then you don't have excess lineset coiled up outside
Have you installed the Hibrib 12k yet
@@terrybrown5883 nope. Haven’t tried that one out yet.
DO you need a permit when installing this?
Nope. Though your HOA may have a heart attack if the lines and unit can be seen from the street.
can you provide the approx dimensions of the indoor unit?
Sure. It’s 42.5” x 13”. And it’s 9.3” deep.

Unfortunately, they will switch to R32 refrigerant making these current R410A filled units obsolete by end of 2024.
That code doesn't work.
Add 50 to the end of it.
They made us add numbers to it after they were already created.

SEER or SEER2? The 38 SEER I found by searching is rated at 27 SEER2. The EG4 9K unit is 29.5 SEER2. I would like to find a 38 SEER2 unit.
