Oscar Cano - That took a lot of courage to share. Thank you for your humility, I too am a very simple man, who came from a poor family, I was raised by my Grandmother, who instilled in me true, family values. I was fortunate enough to save my pennies and purchase a nice home in the Mid-West where homes are still affordable. I don't have a lot of furniture, or even a bed. I don't have but 2 pair of pants, a few shirts. 2 pairs of shoes, a pair of boots for the winter, and 1 pair of sneakers for the short summer.
I learned how to stretch a dollar, a can of beans for 1 dollar and a bag of tortillas a little butter and that to me is a gourmet meal. If I'm lucky enough to have an egg or two once a month, I feel extremely blessed. Even still, I'd share all I have with somebody who has less than me. God bless you, may the good Lord keep you, and His face shine upon you.

This recipe is so special to me! I started watching y’all in 2020, and wanted to make this for Christmas breakfast for my boyfriend. On Christmas Day right before we ate breakfast he proposed! 2 years later we’re married, and are using fresh eggs from our chickens and topped the casserole with peppers from the garden. Thank you for making your tradition ours too!

I know this is not a new video and it’s nowhere near Christmas, but I have just recently discovered you guys and I’m still playing catch up. All I can say is wow. The cooking looks amazing, but honestly the food is probably the least important part of this show. Thank you for the touching story and for all that you guys do to help keep an important way of life alive and to expose a younger generation to something that they might easily miss out in. The world needs a lot more people like you.
Dear Kent and Shannon:
It does my heart good to see you all working together., it brings memories of how my Late wife and I worked together in the kitchen and elsewhere like when we worked together getting in the winter supply of Black Oak fire wood, or picking wild blackberries for a good cobbler or a mess of jam or jelly. I miss her loving presence so very much this time of year, I can just barely stand it then I see you and Shannon working and loving together and it warms my soul. May The Lord richly bless us all this coming year. We'll all have lots of time to converse and share when we all meet in Glory and share the work and the joy of cooking and just plain living. The Lord sent me some real trials this year including a broken leg followed by an amputation, but he has also blessed my life and made me grateful for the 27 years my wife and I shared together.

As a multi stroke survivor, you've inspired me to go ahead and put on that apron once again and start doing what I excel at or at least did at one time. I'll try my best, but it is tougher now. I also enjoyed your story at the end. Because of things that have happened in my life, the Lord and I are not really on speaking terms at the moment. I'm trying to get back, I was an altar boy for 13 years, almost entered the priesthood, but then I found women and those two don't mix. I won't get into every detail, but the ending of this video was in fact quite inspiring. Who knows. I thank you for all your recipes, all your wisdom, all your stories and all of your videos and all of your hard work and your time. I wish you all the best Sir.
I grew up with this. My grandmother would make it for us every Christmas. We I make it for my children each Christmas now, which they look forward to every year. I love keeping family traditions alive.

Im watching this in October 2020. I've just found your channel last night and have been binge watching every since. I'm 58 from Oklahoma but live in Texas now. Ive been cooking my whole life and really enjoy cooking for other people, there's nothing that can make your ol' heart swell with pride like smiles. I'm the worlds worst when it comes to experimenting with recipes. Anything to make it better or a little different. Any way i really enjoy your shows and your cowboy wisdom. It's almost a lost art.
