    Strange to know, were you in the States, you would already have 1 mil subs.
    Especially when no-one really has your , hands-on and feet-on, approach.

    2:40: The infrared "Night Vision" camera is a brilliant idea that all automakers should offer. However, it appears that Porsche has erred by keeping the same formula as on my Panamera and in the current Cayennes: namely, that the camera is mounted way-too-low on the front of the car (it should be mounted at the top-center of the windshield, behind the rear-view-mirror complex) and it has a very narrow field-of-view (it needs a much-wider wide-angle lens) that prevents you from seeing off to the sides in any meaningful manner (where arguably the majority of threats reside)... But one thing that this infrared camera is good for that isn't mentioned much is that it can pierce through dense fog, day or night -- making it a really valuable safety tool.

  • @no-damn-alias
    @no-damn-alias 2 ปีที่แล้ว +10

    You can see that the front night view camera uses infrared vision. Look at the heat from the car passing you. From the radiator into the wheel wells and from the exhaust pipe

      Fun fact: If a fossil car is consuming 6 l/100 km and 1 litre of fuel contains 10 kWh and the car is driving at 100 km/h, the car is burning 60 kW! And if the efficiency is 30 % then only 18 kW goes into motion and 42 kW goes into heat! That's insane!

    • @no-damn-alias

      @@bjornnyland well it's 8,9kwh/l and todays petrol engines reach an efficiency of 210g/kwh with regular gasoline and without a turbocharger. 30% efficiency is 270g/kwh und was archived already in the 40s on piston airplanes but yes you're right. Modern GE turbine can do 130-135g/kwh producing only electricity and you can use the heat for district heating and even after losses it will be more efficient to charge your car with pure gas powered plants than to use driving it.
      6l at 100km/h is also rather badly. With 30% efficiency it's 5,4l after losses and way less with modern engines so on a Camry HEV you'd rather use 30kwh per 100km in pure fuel. Way less of a difference. That wasn't the point of my post I just found it cool that the heat was visible on the camera

    Usable battery capacity is 83.5kWh. I get about 440 km in Range mode on a trip at ambient temp between 18 and 25 C. If you are using the gross battery capacity of over 90kWh for your efficiency calcs, you will be wrongly inefficient. Since new my overall usage has been 18.6 kWh per 100 kms over 5000kms. Hope that is useful.

    with the 20" Aero design Wheels it would be more comparable. These tires are the most ineffecient tires/rims for these car.
    The Tesla Model S Raven has been tested with the narrowest tires there are and the Porsche with the widest one.

    Not really comparable!

      Model S Performance Raven with 21" 265 rear tires were tested at 90 km/h and the consumption was 164 Wh/km. That's still way lower than Taycan's 190 Wh/km.

    Mine have 21kw/100km mean consumption over 12000km now, some done with 19” winter tyres and som with 21” and same wheels size as your test, but pirelli tyres. It seems to be using around 10-20% more with sommer tyres 21” than with winter tyres 19” i estimate based on the same kind of driving, although warmer now in summer but with a bit more speed. Not sure excactly of course but something like that…not really an issue as the car is amazingly fast to charge in summer and varmer weather at least if needed.
