I will never understand why millionaires choose ultra modern, full glass houses instead of something so insanely peaceful and gorgeous such as this. I'd know what I'd choose !!

give some migrant a million and ask him to choose a house...
he will build the maximum resemblance to what he is used to... what in his culture is - a rich, but hut, or something similar...
Nowadays the rich do not indulge in philosophy, do not write books or poetry.
All they are interested in is.........
They don't choose, they think they choose.
Because rich people are typically to busy to care. They like it practical, compact, flexible, clean. It should be safe, do its job, and I doubt they want to be to attached emotionally to their property, so they have the freedom to sell it. In the rare occasion they are free, they would more likely travel to exclusive resorts where they can experience exotic ambientes... I think its mainly that ^^
Because modern society is, for the most part, spiritually dead

A part of me wishes we still build these kinds of buildings with gorgeous designs and architecture.
idk...growing up in Turkey and Greece, we have places like this everywhere, hamams, baths, ancient random places in the nature...As a spa, few hotels have this concept actually. Morocco etc have some places like this...So yes its rare but similar places exist. As a house it would be amazing! Im building a house in Greece, if I do this you are invited =D

There's actually a pretty well preserved Roman baths like this in the city of Bath in the UK! You can't bathe in it, but it's strikingly similar inside and there is a great spa just down the road 😊

My grandmother grew up here and went with her mother again in the 70s. She couldn’t even describe how amazing it was.

I visited the Roman Baths in Varna, Bulgaria earlier today and I was thinking the same thing. To visit the ruins and wear a VR headset. Also to be in a hot tub or thermal bath wearing a VR headset with a video like this.

You gotta admire the sheer brilliance and creativity of people from the ancient world. To be able to build these elegant structures with great details with probably nothing more than a hammer and chisel. It's really a marvel to look at.

Lucius' footsteps echoed off the high ceilings as he traversed the grand atrium, making his way towards the tepidarium. As he entered, a rush of warm, humid air enveloped him. He was greeted by the sight of colossal Corinthian columns rising majestically towards the vaulted ceiling. The mosaic floors gleamed, polished to perfection, reflecting in the soft sunlight. He undressed and handed his toga to an attendant, stepping into the shallow, warm water. The marble benches beneath the water were worn smooth by the countless people who had sought solace here before him.
The room was filled with the soothing sound of trickling water from the ornate fountains, and the scent of exotic oils hung in the air. A calm silence prevailed. Lucius submerged himself in the tepid water, feeling the tension ebb away from his weary limbs. He closed his eyes and let the warmth seep into his bones, his mind drifting to the ongoing war with Carthage. Reports of Hannibal's audacious crossing of the Alps and the subsequent battles had the city on edge. The baths, however, offered a temporary reprieve from these worries.
As he floated, the war seemed a distant reality. The echo of the trickling water and the steam rising in soft curls from the surface created a symphony of tranquility. The weight of his responsibilities seemed to dissolve in the warm embrace of the water.
A slave moved around, pouring water over heated stones in the corner, causing a cloud of steam to fill the room. Lucius' breath synchronized with the soft hissing of the steam, creating a meditative rhythm that grounded him in the moment.
Rome was at war, but in the heart of this grand city, within these ancient walls, Lucius found a respite, a sanctuary.

There are people who have hundreds of billions of USD and they could not only uncover the rest of the Pompeii and Herculaneum to see what else is hidden under the compacted ashes of Vesuvius, but also rebuild the entire Pompeii again from scratch the way it was 2000 years ago, with lavish villas, palazzos, stadium, roman baths and all, for people to really experience in person in an immersive, walk-through experience. We have the original pigments preserved from that era, some charcoaled furniture, etc. It could be made all very authentic. As much as visiting the ruins of the real Pompeii and Herculaneum is fun, I would love to visit such skansen of antiquity were the ancient roman structures would be rebuilt in full as they were in the time of their highest glory!

I am from libya and here we have 3 ancient Roman cities and the biggest one is leptis magna i use to visit it alot in my childhood and always try to imagine what was it like ,thank you for this great work it made me cherrish our history even more

I might be trippin but weren't the statues in ancient roman/greek times colored? The paint just washed out through time so the plain white statues are what is familiar to us
You are correct!
Same with many of the walls and columns as well - most of Rome would have been either painted or filled with colourful frescoes (and graffiti). And that includes the statues!
