    Well done mate. Got to love the fishing community. So happy to have been a fisherman from the wonderous early days as a kid with my grandfather, to ticking over 50 and still fully in love with it.

      Thanks so much, yeah the catch and release cages and tournament staff onhand with a hose to keep the pelicans away was a great idea.

    Great video Alan, even though you said it's your first tournament, you practiced what you show on your videos, you didn't stray from that, soft plastics, same lures, searching for activity, casting out and if it wasn't the target fish moving on. I bet it was hard to leave the salmon! All with barely no prior planning apart from 35 minutes on the water before hand.

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Thanks !! Yeah we both hadn't fished Mallacoota before and only got 35 min of prefish, so we decided day 1 to keep it very simple and only cover a few areas instead of burning time scoping new grounds. Simple techniques which worked well. The following day we experimented a lot more with other lures and spots and also got some great results and yes 100% hard to leave schools of big active salmon but it was a great experience. Thanks for the kind words

    Hey Alan, great video mate. well done on fishing the tournament. I'm heading up to Mallacoota in October fishing out of the Hobie. Any tips on where to target the Bream at time of the year ? top or bottom lake ?

    Thank you so much for your knowledge Allan, I’ve learnt soo much from your videos! I’ve caught a few bream so far (only like 10-20 😂). But I’ve only fished salt for a few months now, would a bit bream take a 4.5” paddle tail??? And also what line you using and what kilo rod? My light setup is a daiwa 1-2kilo rod and 8lb line on it!
    Keep up the sensational work! Extremely love your videos! Tight lines man! 🇦🇺🤙🎣🇦🇺🤙🎣🇦🇺🤙🎣

      Really glad you enjoy the content and find it helpful. Now to answer your questions your better of with 2.5 inch plastics for bream small grubz and paddletails are perfect 4 inch will be to large. also rig them as light as possible 1/24 to 1/12 is what i usually run with. The rods I was using were 1-3kg rods paired with 2000 and 1000 size reels spooled with 6lb braid so very finesse. I hope that helps.

      Hopefully, it was a really great experience, my calendar is all over the place these days with filming obligations so it will be just a case of managing that, but certainly keen to explore it a bit more.

    Hey mate, great video! Got a question for you tho. I’m trying to pick a rod to match with my old 2500 stradic ci4 and I don’t know if I should pick a zodias or a 23 td black. The TD black is looking more promising at this point due to it being a normal 2 piece unlike the zodias’s 2-piece butt setup. Want a rod that I can travel with too so the TD black is looking way more appealing now. Would love your opinions and any other suggestions!

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Both of those are great option, much will also come down to cost. I've been using a Shimano expride a lot this year and really rate it but its a bit more expensive then the zodias. Shimano also have a new rod called the Artiesta which would pair with a C14+ beautifully, otherwise have a look for sales and pull the trigger on the best bargain you can get with those rods you mentioned, I have used both and there good rods for the value. Atomic also have nice light rod which may also be a good cost effective option.

    • @RNGswervy
      @RNGswervy 15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@fishingmad Thanks mate! I saw that artiesta and thought it looked great but the price point is a bit too high for me and it probably won’t come down til late December or the end of summer. Maybe I’ll try a few rods at bcf soon with that reel and see what balances out the best. Thanks for the info!

    Heard u dropped a pair Allan

    • @fishingmad
      @fishingmad  15 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I dropped a low 40s boatside which was a shame as we still had a 32cm in our bag, that would have been a very handy upgrade
