I've avoided acrylics for years simply because I've not been able to make them look like oils, which are my first love. But now... fine misting! Who knew?!?. I'm so glad you're video 'accidentally' popped up in my feed. I can't wait to try this.
Omg your husband's willingness to be on your videos and be sprayed with a water bottle is commendable, amazing and HILARIOUS! Im just starting to explore acrylics, so I appreciate the tip!
It took a small bit of practice, but now my relationship with acrylic paint is vastly improved. I almost cried when I made the softest, puffy, fluffy, wispy clouds ever in my painting career! Lisa, I thank you for this and all you have taught me.
I have recently learned the fine mist water technique when painting northern lights, but I’m happy you’ve helped me to appreciate that it can be used in so many other acrylic applications. I started painting in my 60’s and turned 70 yesterday. Videos like yours are giving me more and more confidence to press forward. I’m enjoying it so much more now that I’m seeing some advancements with each painting. Never too old to learn more and more!!! Thank you
@@marciabarreto780 I started at 61. I just turned 67. I am painting raccoons right now. I started the painting late last year and had a long interruption. So I’m thrilled to see that Lisa painted this gorgeous raccoon in the meantime! (My icon is a coloured pencil piece I did from a Bonny Snowdon tutorial - it really is never too late!)
This painting is amazing. You’re super talented. And you inject humor and have your husband help out. And you explain everything, and describe the brushes too 😭 Protect this woman at all cost.
Hahahahaha loved this! You’re husbands such a good sport. Thanks for the painting tips as well. Definitely going to give them a try, I totally lean to the smooth blending. I fear I often overblend🙈
Overblending is easy to do with this technique. You only need a couple of swipes with that mop brush (or blush/powder brush in my case) to get good results. If you're doing more than 5 swipes with the brush it's probably too much!
I’ve been using the fine mist sprayer for years now my professor in college who also mostly oil paints taught us this first lesson. glad to see other artist also using this style ❤️I love your art ❤️
Oh my gosh that racoon painting is cute and beautiful!! Awesome tips for blending!!! It's funny you mention that. I used my airbrush for this for the past 20 years. I got the fine mist sprayer to test to see if it could be an alternative to those without an airbrush and ended up using this more myself! My airbrush is always set up and ready to go at the easel, but this holds more water and has just been sooooo convenient. The airbrush is better at getting more consistent misting though. The difference isn't enough to give up the convenience of this sprayer for me. Either way I'm glad we have both options! :D
