- In this video, I'm going to show you how to make a DIY top filter for fish tank or DIY aquarium top filter at home using a food container. This DIY aquarium filter is perfect for adding a little extra bit of fun and excitement to your fish tank! In this setup, I have used an air pump that is designed to blow air. This pump serves the purpose of providing additional aeration and promoting water circulation in the aquarium. Here, the air bubbles produced by the pump are responsible for lifting water from the aquarium into the container. Moreover, I have installed a check valve to ensure that there is no backflow of water into the pump when it is off. Thank you.

I can see you are using dual air pump motor and connected both to a single tube. Is double motor required for pushing the water up?

Is Lava rock necessary
The use of lava rock is optional. You can use any filter media of your choice.

It is powered by an air pump. Air bubbles move the water through the pipe into the container.

i cant seem to get mine to work i have a double air pump and set everything up like i was supposed to but it ain’t working
1. Ensure that all joints or connections are completely sealed or airtight. 2. If you are using an air stone, make sure that the diameter of the air stone is much smaller than the diameter of the pipe, so that the water can rise up with the bubbles that the air stone creates. You can also check if it is working without using the air stone.
