- Here is my footage of The Winter Cumbrian Mountain Express hauled by LNER B1 Thompson Class 61264 and LMS Black Five 45407 'The Lancashire Fusilier' on Saturday 25th January 2014. The tour run by The Railway Touring Company was running from Manchester Victoria to Carlisle via Bolton, Preston, Carnforth and Shap and then returning over The Settle and Carlisle Railway, Hellifield, Clitheroe and Bolton before returning to Manchester. We see the pair in fine form with thirteen on the hook on the outward leg at Bay Horse of which the second shot was captured by Mark (Monopodmansdad) and then on the approach to Shap Summit at Shap Wells.
Hope you enjoy.
Lovely pair of locos
A pleasure to watch and listen to! Thanks for making and showing! Great shots!
Thank you very much for watching.
Thank you for your constant effort in order to give us a few minutes of shear delight. Trip after trip. Brill!
Thanks for taking the time to watch its very much appreciated.
Regards Phil.
Had a great day out on this trip, many thanks for sharing the 'outside' view, excellent clips.
Alan
Thanks Alan and I would think your ears will still be ringing with the sound from the pair up front!!
All the best.......Phil.
Truly excellent shots, especially the view from the second camera!
Thanks very much your comment is appreciated.
Cheers Phil.
What a sight Phil, both locos giving their all, and the B1's performance good enough to match any.....Bob
Thanks Bob and it was a super pairing with 61264 & 45407 the sound was just incredible it was just a shame the weather spoilt it slightly.
Regards Phil.
Excellent video Phil! The first WCME of 2014 and what a start to the year. Great show from the pair and just incredible sound of the climb up Shap. The wind did put up a filming challenge.
Thanks for Sharing!
Thanks Stuart and the shear power of the pair was a sight and sound to set 2014 of with a bang over the Northern Fells.
All the best.......Phil.
Brilliant shots Phil of them working superbly well. What a great sight they made as a double header(C&A)
Thanks C&A and what a sound the pair made a cracking start to the 2014 season.
Regards Phil.
Superb video Phil, the second camera shot on Shap really gave a dramatic view of the locos pounding their way to the summit. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Mick, it was a superb performance by the pair and a cracking start to 2014.
Cheers Phil.
Great camera work and good to hear them pulling up the hill. Just think, when this happened every day we never paid any attention to it!
What a fine sight and sound they make Phil. A super start to our season. Looks very blustery at Scout Green. Thanks for sharing. Chris
Thanks very much Chris and what a start to 2014 by the pair.
Regards Phil.
Quality viewing as always, really like the use of the 2nd camera, and good effort with the locations and weather.
James
Thanks James and it was a challenge to find a sheltered location but the sound of 61264 & 45407 soon drowned out any wind problems.
Regards Phil.
Smithy.....what a sight for an ex-pat living in Tasmania. Sound quality is excellent too. I used to go (steam) train spotting at Crewe in my younger days nearly 56 years ago. Sadly no passenger trains, or much else railway-wise in Tassie. Steam trains are living, breathing 'things' that have to cared for and treated wisely. I'm going to spend a few more hours watching your vids!
Thanks very much for the kind words they are appreciated.
Regards Phil.
Absolutely fantastic, such power, thanks for sharing.
Super show Phil in pretty awful weather conditions, but that's beauty of steam engines working hard - they make the scene even more dramatic regardless of the weather! Well done for a well edited video. Liked it very much! Cheers. Ken
Thanks for the kind words Ken and what a start to 2014 with the pairing of 61264 & 45407.
All the best.......Phil.
A very enjoyable video Phil. Great to see this combination in action. Excellent viewing. Cheers, Jeff.
Thanks for watching Jefff and what a way to get the 2014 season up and running.

Thanks very much and I appreciate your comment.

Great video showing the strength of the wind increasing over the morning. The 2nd. camera was very dramatic. Thanks.
Thanks very much for watching and glad you enjoyed.
Regards Phil.
Some great footage there Phil,Sounded good with them both working hard....Trevor.
Thanks very much Trevor and it was a fine start to the 2014 season.
Cheers Phil.
What a fine sight & sound they make. It is nice to see a new loco on the main line.
Thanks Andrei and it was a fine spectacle to get things up and running in 2014.

Up to your usual high standard, I missed attending the East Lancs early year Gala, but caught up with your Saturday visit. Enjoyed that also.
Many thanks and glad you enjoyed.
Cheers Phil.
Smashing selection of shots Phil , the first worked really well but the last shot was the best for me . Steve
Thanks Steve and what a sound the pair made yesterday it was just a shame about the weather. Nice to have the quick chat.
Cheers Phil.
Great action Phil in challenging conditions at Shap. It was a great pairing of locos and the crews were working hard
regards Mike
meant to say sorry if Ive not commented on recent vids -- nightmare with youtube and pc platforms
Mike
rab4472 Thanks for watching Mike and I for one know how hard it is to keep up with all the coverage on youtube. The performance on Saturday of 61264 & 45407 was just perfect and the sound was as good as it gets.
Regards Phil.
Well done great camera work.... Enjoyed it...
Thank you very much and glad you enjoyed.
Regards Phil.

Great video Phil, the weather looked grim but didn't spoil your filming at all, must be a very good mike you have there, thanks for sharing.
Thanks Stuart and glad you enjoyed. To be fair the trees sheltered me a lot from the strong wind at Shap.
Cheers Phil.
Nice shots Phil from both locations; I take it Mark was being your second cameraman at Bay Horse since we drove past him while he was waiting there...Graham
Thanks Graham and as you thought Mark took command of the second shot at Bay Horse but sadly his shot at Shap summit was spoilt by the intense rain.
Cheers Phil.
That B1, I love the exhaust. It drowned out the sounds of 45407.
Considering the conditions an absolutely fabulous bit of video. What a pleasure to see a BR Black liveried B1 back on the network Terrific combination for the start of the season.Just wonderful
Bob Lumley Thanks very much and glad you enjoyed.
Thanks for watching and the B1 was on top form yesterday and all credit to the crew.
Regards Phil.
Aw doesn't get much better than that. Thanks very much.
Thanks for the kind words they are very much appreciated.
Cheers Phil.
With performances and confident footplate work like THAT no wonder the UK is the preserved steam capital of the world. Personally I didn't think the weather spoilt it.... the strong wind and rain made it all the more dramatic.
Great vid Phil... loved it.....
…☁☁☁⁘⁙☁☁⁙..☁……Hᴜɢʜ….Lɪᴋᴇᴅ…..ツ
Thanks very much Hugh and 61264 & 45407 set the 2014 season off to a excellent start.
Many regards Phil.
Great stuff. Please tell me what you are doing to keep the wind off the microphone. All the dead cats in the world usually don't work under those conditions.
Thanks very much Rod and the pair were on top form. The wall I was filming next to sheltered most of the wind and the blimp I have did its part.
Many regards Phil.
I like to call this b1 the Nathan Brown
