    I have a few of these shawls. The oldest is Victorian and rather damaged. But I still love it and wear it occasionally.

    These are all heirloom collections , each is a Gem with many more gems woven in them
    I wish you would dedicate these fabulous gems to the artisans and their nimble fingers to have woven such GEMS for posterity to enjoy .

      Salaam. Thank you for your very kind words. I don't check for comments since there are very few people that, I notice, watch my channel. I continue to add to my collection and every piece fills me with awe, at the aesthetic sense, artistic excellence and craftsmanship of our ancestors. My goal is to share my collection with the word, in the US where I live, in Kashmir and wherever else I get a chance. Unfortunately, it's been a struggle to achieve that goal but I keep trying.

      Thank you. I take credit for neither. I am simply a passionate collector and researcher who is trying to preserve the little that is left of our lost heritage and to tell the story to the world.

    Ethereally beautiful ! The Culture of #Kashmir is reflected in its Artistry & Crafts. The genteel valley has suffered much & this side of its beauty has been overshadowed by that suffering. It is beautiful to see a revival of the things that make Kashmir bloom & blossom again. This channel is truly a labour of Love, as are these beautiful creations shown in each episode.
    Thank you so much for bringing these to the World to see & appreciate through such well made videos.

    Hello! I'm just getting into shawls and they are so beautiful. We recently got a collection of shawls, lots of European ones but some nice Kashmir. Some of the European ones are so similar. What would you consider some of the biggest giveaways to tell if its French or Kashmiri?

    • @thecashmerechronicles4387
      @thecashmerechronicles4387  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I can tell my just looking at them. The European machine-made shawls didn't quite capture the essence of the Kashmiri shawls. But the best way to tell is to look at the back. The European shawls have a fuzzy feel to them, whereas the Kashmiri shawls don't. That has to do with the difference in the weaving techniques and that's very detailed discussion that, I hope, to share through a book some day

    Beautiful! How would an average person purchase a Kani pashmina Shawl and how would they know it is genuine, could you please advise?

    • @thecashmerechronicles4387
      @thecashmerechronicles4387  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi. Sadly, it has become next to impossible, to tell the diffrrence between a genuine hadwoven kani shawl and a machine made copy. Still, you can tell a genuine kani shawl by the somewhat rough, hanging threads in the back of the shawl as opposed to a machine made where the threads are either not ptresent or they are somewhat raised or are very regular. Also, in a machine woven one, a particular repeated pattern will look exactly the same across the entire shawl but a han made one will have slight variations. Just a couple of suggestions.
