@ericm2031 I've never heard of Granite Bay until we sat by 3 ladies at the prelim. After watching them, I realized that this is a very fine, classy band to watch, that's why I went through all the trouble to film them on a raining day finals. :) Although not necessary what we're looking for, I think the top 3 bands are jam packed with visuals & etc, and the points just adds up. If you're with this school, be very proud them! The show flows beautifully, and you've made a name first year in WBA!
@ishallfollowyoursong I'm an alumnus of the band and couldn't be prouder as we were just preparing to start doing some WBA shows the next year after I graduated. We just have always had the problem where we could be literally half the size of the biggest bands at the competition, but could be louder and sound 10x better and march 10x better...but it took us years in our old band circuit to get the judges to change their minds. And now being in WBA, I feel they're going to have to do the same.
@ishallfollowyoursong Those huge bands don't sound that clean, and they barely can move around on the field because they don't have any room to...yet they will still get better marching scores. And the bigger the band, the easier it is to hide the mistakes...and those points hurt. I just hope that one day the judges start to realize that. And I just want to let everyone know who's reading this, that I mean no harm to any of "those bands" that I may be referring to. lol Glad you enjoyed them!
Always has been the best band for it's size. Just wish the judges weren't so biased towards the bigger bands...but that's never going to change because it's always been that way.
