- After the Omnic Crisis the world was divided as the defeated Omnics remained and began to reintegrate back into society. Some managed this harmoniously, others struggled causing riots and bloodshed. Among this chaos a group of Omnics experienced spiritual enlightenment that would eventually lead them to becoming the standard bearers for peace and unity across the globe. One monk, Zenyatta, had his own unique methods for sharing the inner peace inherent within the teachings of the Shambali, and as he roams the world healing wounds both physical and spiritual who can sat where his journey will take him.

The sad and almost poetic thing about how widow's story and zen's story intertwine in much the same way zen's belief does with harmony and discord. Zen was apart of the Omnics finding their souls and becoming more than just machines. While Widow very much human was stripped of what made her that way turned into a killing machine and assassinates zen's mentor (among many others).

IMO, I think Zenyatta actually has the most peaceful lore out of any Overwatch character. This guy explaned that ina best way possible.
This guys my favorite hero character, both his design and story are awesome

I want to see Zenyatta shine more especially with his influence to characters like Genji. I can't help but wonder how big his character will get if he ever finds Widowmaker or a omnic with a violent mindset to equality. How would he react? How would he face the moral challenges without losing his beliefs and practices?

In just over 5 minutes (somewhat sizable pauses included), you have been able to demonstrate exactly why this world needs an Overwatch movie. You've well earned my sub.
I'd love a movie, would have so much potential. God knows how long it'd take to do a video on it though ;) I'm honestly not certain when to expect more lore content from Blizzard, know they're working on stuff but can't get any dates out of them

It's said that the next hero is an Omnic support sniper. I've kinda been wanting more Omnic heroes also so I'm hyped.
Definitely strong clues towards a support sniper - where did you hear the Omnic part from? There are synthetic (not necessarily Omnic) heroes in the pipeline I'm sure, but I'd never connected the 'support sniper' with being an Omnic :) be interesting to hear from you
The images I've seen that could be the support sniper are omnic (even there are are also ones that aren't, but i'd like to believe it is :P.)

then again, there is also a high chance it is just pharah's mother, because there have been like 4 instances of someone being thought dead but they actually aren't (soldier76, reaper, genji, tracer)

No the taunt is. this one is chill though, I like but it's no taunt. It's the fact of how surprising it is when he does that pose and then mocks you that's funny as hell.
Jesus, Zenyatta may be a monk, but he is not a pacifist.
he believes in the peace between Humans and Omnics, but he is not so naive as to assume words will sway people.
Actions are his weapon, and living among people is a far better way to have them see you eye-to-eye, than living above them, as a symbol....even one of hope.
He is also a strong believer in being able to stand up for what is right...even if that means having to Fight, to defend that belief.
Watches this and becomes inspirational to main Zenyatta..

I love how he is passive and aggressive all at the same time, he can control a push or nullify the enemies.
The discord + headshot is devastating and fairly easy to land especially on over confident tanks that drop their guard. I can initiate a push with a burst of Alt-Fire + discord and then ult. (as long as the team doesn't crowd around the ult they will be safe... so many times zarya wipes because people flock to the ult.

I wish this game had a single player story where each mission you play a different character and you learn what these videos teach you in those missions
Okay but like what if Zenyatta met Widowmaker and helped her recover from what Talon did to her while also teaching himself to forgive her because the assassination wasn't technically her fault

Awesome vid, I love Zenyattas design and story. However I would still like to know more about the Iris and its philosophical definition aswell as why Zenyatta uses an Orb of Disorder upon enemies. The Shambali resemble the Shaolin monastery to me and that's why I'd call his two orbs representations of the idea of Yin and Yang, but what is it that got him into fighting in between the battles of the Overwatch when his aim has been to teach individuals about peace?

There's this cool voice line between genji and zenyatta in game if they're on the same team
the dot's on zenyatta's head are a direct reference to Buddhism, that particular pattern is called a Jieba, it's something not practiced anymore, but it's something given to a monk from there master, it means there training is complete, each dot represents a different rule of conduct, not sure if it means anything here, but it's neat cultural reference
That's a fantastic bit of info, thanks for that! Does explain why Mondatta had a full set of 9 and I would assume Zenyatta likewise. I wonder if there's any significance in the arrangement of them, i.e. diamond as opposed to square, or whether this is just used as a way to differentiate between the two monks.
i wouldn't know sadly, i only knew about the the details of Zenyatta's pattern, i don't know if the shape of the pattern means anything at all
I'd really like to dive deeper in the belief system of the shambali itself. We hear a lot about "the iris", and can infer a bit about the general themes (peace, cooperation, harmony) but never the details.

We're currently missing Lucio, Zarya, Mei and D.Va - purely because none of them have enough to write a full episode on. Depending how the next few weeks plays out we may move to either remaster some of our older episodes that lack as much detail or look to cover things outside of the character roster :)

Its funny that a robot can't be revived of its memory storage only to be brought back to life again when reassembled unlike a human being. Am I being too heartless for laughing my ass when that woman cried out NOOO while he was assassinated?
Have these robots never considered a backup memory storage in case of such a malfunction?
Yes that is an interesting question - genuinely wonder whether they've come up with an explanation for that yet. If they have I haven't seen it as in theory an AI should be transferrable between host machines, especially with the same architecture which they appear to have.
Well even if you could restore Mondatta it does not mean he would be him self anymore. Like if they had spiritual awakening then they die it just means he turns back to generic robot right?

I mean like all of his backstory and stuff..
He came from a radiated place in Australia(explaining the gas mask) and he was kind of a rough hunter. Junkrat negotiated with him and they became partners, each getting half of the spoils they got. They then traveled out of Australia and went on a crime spree, killing and bombing stuff. Now they're in the game as playable heroes.
We'll definitely be doing him and Junkrat - probably together as they're so intertwined - in the next few weeks. Pharah came out last night and Symmetra is in production now. Junkers on the list very shortly after that!

I hope so, but I think it's very much spiritual rather than physical. Will likely be based on their belief that humans and omnics alike are capable of having a soul or similar, so everything is equal when viewed from this perspective.
