I’ve known Beno sense I was 29 years old. I’m 52 now. I met him through another legend of his era Henry Kisner. These guys helped me build my 1st street motorcycle after I returned from a Deployment overseas. It was a 1969 BSA thunderbolt. My Grandfather raced Triumph flat trackers when he got home from WW2. I’ve owned many BSA’s and Triumphs sense then. Henry is no longer with us and I think of him often. My boys are now riding dirt bikes and rebuilding them under my guidance like I did under Henry and Beno. I haven’t seen Rodi in a decade. So glad he’s still at it! These guys will always be the real deal, and I just hope they know their legend lives on. My boys have heard me speak reverently about these guys many times. Miss you Henry…
Well I'm 70 yo now, and I rode my last hare scrambles race just about 2 years ago in late November. Course was muddy, rutted and hilly. I had to admit to myself that what I did really didn't have much resemblance to racing. More like survival. Somehow what was of utmost importance to me in an earlier day somehow became less important later on. That's the key to being aggressive and without aggressive you ain't really racing. So I'm off now riding a few vintage trials events a year. Got hurt a little bit a couple of times in crashes, but they were pretty slow speed wrecks and I think I can continue for a few more years like this. Good reflex and balance practice really. Saw another YT video the other day that claims how that's good for an old fart. AMA card is now 53 years old. I've had it as a life membership longer than it took to get a life membership. So it's practically a free ride from here on out!
Just goes to show that age is simply a number, and passion for your sport is like the spirit; it is timeless. God Bless him and keep him safe; I pray he gets to make it to 90 racing his bike.
Motorcycles are a drug and once you are hooked it's for life, just having to own one and know its ruining right is like a comfort blanket, life without a motorcycle must be like never getting drunk, doing something dangerous, getting high on adrenalin, watching the sun set and rise again, I just can't imagine what sort of guy doesn't need a motorcycle,
love these old bikes i use to do this back in high school we didnt have fancy leathers we were redneck racers for awhile before we got the fancy suits n went sideways at 100mph lol

He's out there every year at the season ending AHRMA race at Barber, same leayhers, you cant miss him.

My buddy Adam Weiss and his daughter were probably there. He owns a cool Japanese bike shop in PA.
My dad was also there racing he is 77 years old number #48 in mad dog class he got 4th if you had any video that would be awesome
