That size PJ jig is my go to fly for beginners. I start with it under an indicator. Once they get their overhand cast down, I take the indicator off and teach them how to fish it as a streamer. Or I tie a dropper on it once they have roll cast down and are not tangling every minute. Guide’s best friend.
Awesome video ! I’m an angler and tattoo artist as well ! I use Maribou jigs and fly fish but have never used them together, definitely going to try this technique
Awesome video! Now I wanna go try the white. I’ve always turned my nose up at it because it’s such big slow water and I generally have little to no success. Would have never though about this approach.
This is really helpful. I'm just figuring this trout thing out on the Lower Little Missouri and the water is moving so slowly when they aren't generating. Nobody seems to talk about how to fish such slooooooow water. Thanks!
We actually fished there early this summer for about an hour or so and probably caught 20 fish doing this exact thing. I even put a couple of those jigs on the little “flybrary” fly patch on the sign
It usually depends on the depth of the spot I’m fishing. If I can see fish, I’ll try to be in the depth. Otherwise I aim for about a foot or so off the bottom. 3-4 foot is probably my average

That's my favorite for hitting the trout park north of there! Olive and peach is hard to beat!
Well, at least you figured it out before the end of the day. Thanks for the tips!
I've been fly fishing for years and never even gave it a thought to use jigs...... I will be tying up a few now. This was an awesome video! Thanks!😁
Love the video brother! Gettin jiggy with it!
New Sub, Sweet Video! Similar to a balanced leech but like you said, easier to tie & cheaper to buy. Thank you for sharing👍👍👍🐟🐟🐟
My favorite way with balanced leeches on the Snake below American Falls, Idaho. Great video

Can you make a video on setting up the jig on a line
I can! We are traveling. So it may be a few weeks, but yes
Awesome video! What size jig to recommend for a 5 weight rod?
1/125 for still water nymphing.
1/32 as a streamer. I wouldn’t go much heavier with the 5wt
New to fly fishing and I'll be targeting crappie so I'm assuming this technique would work the same correct?
Awesomeness!
How far up the line do you put the indicator ?
