In general, the TI units are faster in response to inputs. This is seen when quickly switching between sonar, downscan, chart, and split screens th-cam.com/users/postUgkxeAxH15LxhjGlg5-CRYqjTGTEH0tbY4vk recommend The Hook units will show some lag on button pushes and screen switching. The big ticket item though is maps. If you install a mapping card such as Navionics or the free C-Map Genesis which has a lot of map detail, then moving around the map with the cursor or when running down the lake can lag significantly on the Hook units, but is seamless with the TI units.
Hey Nick, as BCF are now getting rid of these units for 3k or 2K for the HDS9, please let me know if you are updating to the newer units. Would love to get a used one at a great price...just saying...
Thanks for the video! I just bought the Lowrance HDS Live unit with the 3-in-1 transducer, I also got the Minn Kota Ulterra US2. which transducer would you recommend to use? can both be connected the same time? any advantage of the US2 vs the Lowrance one?
Both transducer can be connected to the HDS Live unit. Bear in mind both transducer will be using 83/200kHz so there's no difference there. You will get sidescan from the 3in1.
Will my 3d structure scan work on the new live mdfs and would that mean I need 2 big tranducers? Is it really worth upgrading my carbons considering they're less then 12 months old?
XCROSSYX the structure 3d u have should mate from what I can see as the transducer n module hasn’t changed if any it’s the processing n pixel n other shit the units got plus in what’s ahead we may need to upgrade it but for now I think it works from what I can dig up. I am about to get the 7 live with 3d module upgrade down the road. Can’t wait I just wish minn kota link in near future be something I’m hanging for with lowrance
Brad P active imaging is not the same as total scan transducer it’s actually a new u it so when it comes to images u see with the new processing speed n pixel n screen resolution it makes huge difference. Go n look at them side by side then reply back u will see u are totally wrong on it been the same
@@bradp9938 when u say live do u mean the new sounder unit as u aint really putting your ? to even grasp the answer. the new unit is called live and the new live transducer they have not said or info on if it will be live in 3d or so on as of now your 3d structure setup will work on this unit but as of liveview will see soon if its 3d or not hope that helps
Just wish minn kota was something I could see on lowrance hope u guys can what I don’t get is simrad n lowrance under one roof but two units using some programs and that but still no minn kota hook up
Sorry but not impressed. Nothing really new and innovative. Why call it LIVE when there is nothing LIVE about it. Almost everything on the screen was actually historical data, NOT live. For years I was a big Lowrance fan but I'm now switching over to Garmin LiveScope. Now that is truly LIVE. Take notes Lowrance!!!
The Lowrance also has the Genesis Live mapping. That is not on the Garmin that Im aware. That is pretty handy at the reservoirs I fish- the water levels are always fluctuating and there is always a huge difference in depth between the downloaded maps and the actual depths.
Ben Belman LoL I see this kind of reaction everyday in my job. I guess people just don’t understand anything anyone is doing just here to be negative. The live part is due in to z around 2019 is when u will be able to see how it works then. Secondly the units are much better looking works faster then any other lowrance even thru to the old car on HD’s units your reply was gold tho cheers on the entertainment
@@benbelman6984 lol garmin did u just put garmin in the bin champ. did u no that garmin stitch the image on side scan image. but i guess u knew this right. Garmin is second class to what is today. if u aint fishing more then 600m of water or even 300m at any given time lowrance is the only sounder i will use. was going to get simrad unit but for the xtra 500 or so more i can get lowrance n get everything i need that is current with my needs. garmins downscan side scan isnt as good and in fact downsan is stitched to give u the image.cheers on your reply wasted more time out of my life cheers
wow lowrance really dropped the ball...Lowrance has been the Alpha dog for a long while...I was expecting this new release to be something earth shaking......seems like basically some ole shit and not even mega...Hummingbird and Garmin are quickly leaving Lowrance in the dust
Dirty Oar Catfishing how so so fish reveal map live or even new processes and so on isn’t earth shaking for u wow u must be the typical boat user only out when it’s sunny. N secondly do u no how to use your u it u have fully in its full potential interested to no as I find most people I work with sounders have not single clue what they can do really.
@@MrFrosty888 I'm a long term Lowrance user but when Lowrance is giving us bottle rockets, Garmin is making trips to the moon. If you're happy with bottle rockets, good for you. But when I'm spending thousands of dollars, I'm not interested in a bottle rockets if Garmin can take me to the moon! Right now, Lowrance is full of promises while Garmin delivered the real thing back in June/18. This Lowrance introduction of LiveSight in April better be a home run to match Garmin or I'm going to have a yard sale for all my Lowrance shirts and caps and have some Lowrance units and 3d structure scan for sale.

Garmin has mastered the LIVE aspect on fishfinders. Meanwhile, Lowrance is only still talking about it. Which would you choose?
