I was just as clueless when I was young. Very sad. I believe that it speaks to the fact that there are so few fathers in black homes. These women are pushing a quality man away because of his clothes, or him showing his ankles. Silly women, you must get to know the person. From there, you can make fashion suggestions. Also, when you actually love someone you won't focus on the petty stuff when someone is making your heart happy!!!!!!
Respect the fact that in spite of her mistakes she pressed forward, and is doing something very positive!!! She is 23 moving in a direction to turn her life around. That's amazing. She will be able to completely provide for her children. Wow!!! I applaud her. Let's have a perspective that encourages and uplifts instead of tearing people down. Those mistakes are her past.
I am a caramel-colored black woman( neither really dark nor really light). I didn't like the comment that the narrator made about the possibility that the darker women might be popping their balloons because they are afraid to be rejected because they are surrounded by "light-skinned" women. Let me state this fact. All shades of blackness are amazing. However, no dark-skinned black woman should ever be intimidated by anyone. There is NOTHING more beautiful than the Hershey's chocolate black skintone!!! Their skin is usually absolutely flawless. My chocolate sisters, regardless of how the world, including some of our own race, tries to make you feel inferior, DON'T!!!!!! Much of the attack toward you stems from jealousy and insecurity. You are intimidatingly gorgeous. Hold your head up. Know your worth, then add tax!!!
Ladies, stop eliminating yourselves because the guy says something that excludes you like "2 children with 2 baby daddies." Let him hear you speak about who you are. Sometimes people want what they didn't know that they wanted if/when something about you makes you the exception such as "I am a Registered Nurse." That says that you have made mistakes, BUT you are an accomplished woman. You fought to overcome the obstacles, and did something amazing. That is a reason to respect you. You are afraid to be rejected!!! Remember that your past mistakes don't completely define you.
