I just want to be competitive again. We don’t have to win championships and what not but I’d like for them to at least be one of those teams that’s constantly ranked. Getting blown out by Miami is fine, it happens in football but it felt so much worse than just a blowout. That was like a final giant stab into the program that is already down
It's a mess from top to bottom right now and we're in danger of slipping to a level that makes football at Florida a distant memory. The issue goes much deeper than the coach. Interim President, AD that can't hire a winner and a UAA that seems accepting of being bottom of the SEC. It's a mess right now. The Florida of old is no longer in existence and a vision, plan and chapter has to be put in place. Will say Stricklin has done a great job building new buildings though. Think rather than a new coach the first step should be a GM of football operations needs to be put in place to bring stability to the program. The names everyone keeps throwing around wouldn't be on campus until January/February timeframe. Heard the name John Gruden linked with being interested and TBH he checks a lot of boxes. He is also available, just not sure how he would handle the recruiting piece. That said, dude can coach and understands the NFL aspects of the game. In all kinds of weather, GO GATORS!!!🐊🐊🐊
Reece Davis saying that it’s a lateral move has to hurt the ego maniac gator fan… ouch I still think he’s an option when you write enough 0s on a check.
I just got full custody of my daughter away from my ex wife… if Lane Kiffin goes to Florida, I will be almost as excited to welcome him to Gainesville as i was winning the court case.. Kiffin is our guy!!
A lot of this is based on absolutely nothing based in reality, dude. Yeah, Kiffin hasn't recruited top 10 classes at Ole Miss. That's because he's at Ole Miss, you recruit the state of Mississippi and if you want elite talent you have to travel way out of your way to do so. UF is smack in the middle of the state of Florida, Urban Meyer said it best that you can find all the talent you need within a 300 mile radius of the campus. Kiffin knows he can't win a national title at a place like Mississippi. He knows he can do it at Florida. Any good coach can because the infrastructure is there, the recruiting is there. These media types that are trying to say that the Ole Miss job is somehow better than the UF job simply don't like UF and I'm convinced of it.
And if he got an offer from Bama and he didn't take it with what Saben left talent wise I don't think he'll take a lower team in Florida unless they offer him a ridiculous amount of money
This guy makes no sense. Lane creates excitement and wins. He raises the profile of the team. Relates to players very well. You mean like he surpassed expectations year 1 at ole miss.
Winning makes anyone fit. Sabam had no ties to Bama. I hate when i see fans and administration say they have to be someone with ties to the school. At Bama we did that for 20 years and guess what we sucked. We went with an outsider and we became the standard and dynasty.
@@jpb588 What is available in the portal the next go around for $500, Alex? You're assuming the available talent won't be as good and/or Lane won't be able to reel it in again.
I say if not Kiffen, but if not him, hire John Gruden. Jim Harbaugh turned Michigan around, and Matt Rule is turning Nebraska around. It seems like these coaches that are moving down to college football are having success. I'd rather us not have a good year 1 under Gruden, but a good season in year 2 or 3 and continued success. I think this is the way to go.
If Florida offers Kiffin everything he would want and says no, then he's not serious about winning a national championship. No offense to Ole Miss fans, but there's a reason why that program has never played in a SEC championship game and hasn't won a national title since the JFK administration. If he's comfortable with finishing 3rd in the conference every year and not getting beyond the quarter final of the CFP, then good for him. But if he's got that competitive desire to be up there with the likes of Kirby and Dabo as multi-time national championship winning coaches, then he should roll the dice and go to Florida. Plus worst case scenario is he'll get fired before the end of year 3 and get paid over $30 million not to coach. 😂
When is the last time Ole Miss won a natty? Lane would be great at Florida but I’d be afraid he would leave Florida for Ohio State if they lose to Michigan again. Myer all over again. Just want to win again and be relevant. We need a proven coach not an up and coming. Caliber for SEC has to be excellent.
I’m a Florida fan and I really don’t think he’d be a good fit unfortunately. I think people are just wanting a quick bounce back. Kiffin might be able to do it but nothing is guaranteed. The Florida fanbase would turn on anyone pretty quickly after the last 5 coaches. Idk, if I were Kiffin there’s no way I would come to Florida.
We are gonna go with the safe boring pick. We suck and there’s no light at the end of the tunnel. We need to go all in and say whatever it takes throwing caution in the wind. Look at the great Miami teams and the urban days at Florida he did what it took to win. You can’t win with the safe approach
Unless Florida "backs up the Brinks truck," they will NOT land a "proven" power 4 coach. Even then, I am not certain there is one that will want the job. Fans have unrealistic expectations. Before Spurrier, Florida had no SEC Championships (okay, there was one in 1984, but it was taken away. The one in 1985 did not count). They entered the conference in 1932. So, no championships for 52 years! Fast forward to 1990. They earn 8 in 19 years and include three nattys. That is exceptional. Then, it was back to mediocrity. The gators, my alma mater, had 19 good years. This is not a storied program of sustained success over multiple decades. They had two good ones out of 9
Kiffin doesnt want another rebuild especially Florida. Florida’s glory days are long in past and Ole Miss is a better program. Go get a young hungry OC.
There are 4 really good reasons why Gruden is the MOST LIKELY hire for UF. Kiffin is still better. 1. Both Gruden and UF are damaged goods that are hungry to get back to greatness. That’s a match made in heaven. 2. This is a gift for Stricklin. There are as many people calling for his head than Napiers. If SS makes this hire (and soon) he can show real progress when the new incoming president does evaluations probably in spring 26. SS is all about saving his own skin 3. Gruden is available NOW. SS can hire him anytime and Gatornation will stop the torches and turn the page. Kiffins not free until Feb. 4. Gruden has huge deep ties to Florida and the turn around would be faster. He could start recruiting immediately while the season is finishing out with an interim. Gruden probably wants this college job as a stepping stone back to the NFL but a massive program like UF helps there too. Coaching at Nevada is not going to accomplish that. They mutually dig each other out of the hole.
I don’t think Gruden would last either. I also don’t think he would want to stay in college for very long. Florida fans already want Strickland fired so him hiring either Lane or John wouldn’t save him. The school overall is in a very tricky situation and I think we might be in one of those rare scenarios where the athletic Director doesn’t make the hire, because he’ll be gone, but somebody, like the interim president, does.
@@Lachronix He might not. I said he is the most likely hire, Kiffin is the best one. But he will have prove himself running a big time college program successfully first Interim President Fuchs (when he was the full prez) hired Stricklin and have been hands off for years. He fancies himself an academic and doesn’t care about sports. He won’t do anything. This is Stricklin’s last stop before retirement, he is just trying to buy time. This gives him the best shot

JD!!!! Please dont be fueling this 🔥!!! Alot of us are just fine with Florida being as awesome as they are lately. - anonymous SEC fan
Here are some names to make a simple point: Steve Spurrier, Phillip Fulmer, Kirby Smart .All former players, all won natty's with their alma mater. Is there no former Gator great to coach UF? I'm a Dawg fan so personally i say keep Napier for a few more years. No need to pay that mongrel any buyout money. No talking buffoon on TV or the Net even mentions this.
Spurrier was a QB, they had high-flying offenses. Fulmer was a O-lineman, Tennessee had a great running game and stout defense.
Kirby was a safety.....and does anyone in the country doubt that UGA has consistently the best overall defense in the country? 2021?
Hell--spurrier's son has been a coach for years now. Give him a call
Only reason Lane doesn't make sense is because it would mean Strickland figured out how to hire a legitimate coach which will never happen.
Mullen was not a bad coach. The fanbase are crybabies
From what I hear Strickland is not getting a say in the next coach and he's out at end of December (i don't know the veracity of those statements) but the next coach is coming from the boosters not admin
Are we really okay with that?
Uh, YES. Absolutely yes. Master troll Spurrier is our spirit animal.
The state of Florida is loaded with talent why wouldn't lane be a good fit at Florida ?
Florida is where coaching careers go to die 🚫🐊
how damned many times are you gonna ask the same question? The answer is YES don't care how you frame it or how many times you ask it. PERIOD
Hiring the butler is what got us here
Lane has total control, top 10 highest paid coach, fully embraced by the fans and university, top 10 NIL, expectations are high but he won’t get fired for two straight 7-8 win seasons, he’s also proved he can win at ole miss. Don’t know why he’d leave.
Who gives a damn if he is cocky. He will win games
See all the media saying Lane wouldn’t go to Florida or how it’s a bad fit? Thats how you know he’s coming. They don’t want him at UF, goodnight for the rest of the SEC if he does go
Kiffin is the list! I see no downsides if he comes. We want Lane!
Gruden would be the absolute worst pick I could ever imagine. Only non-ball knowers would suggest it.
Lane at Florida would 100% being top 10 classes.
Mullen brought in Top 10 classes and he didn’t give a shit about recruiting, all it takes to recruit top 10 at Florida is some success on the field.
Rece Davis is a Bama alum so him saying Florida and Ole Miss are the same isn't a surprise. Its not true though and everyone other than a Bama homer knows it. Everything else you just spouted is nonsense. I suppose you think we should hire Mark Stoops. SMH.
lol lane has done more in the modern era at Olemiss than any coach has done at Florida
How many championships Lane won???
Exactly 0
@@collinmooremagic6843 Seriously? 😂
@@collinmooremagic6843 oh yeah? What has he done there, go ahead I'll wait. You're clearly the most casual a casual can get spouting nonsense like that.
He’d probably ask why Mark Stoops would make a lateral move like that
If we could just combine the attitude, drive, accountability of Will Muschamp with the crearive playcalling of Dan Mullen, wed be set.
As frustrating as Muschamp's offenses were, we had a killer defense, amazing recruiting, and accountability withjn thr team. He tried making changes at O coordinator, just chose poorly. The rest of thr staff was top tier.
I miss Coach Boom 😢
Im keeping hope for liberty head coach or utahs head coach. We need toughness and the ability to build up a program
Uf snubbed lane kiffen at one
point
The stronger the Lane rumors become the more turmoil in Mississippi there are going to be. I hope by the time my UGA Dawgs get there it has become quite a quagmire.
Gator fan. I’m not sure about Lane, but I think as a fan base we are sick of sucking and we want to win, and win the big games.
Kniffen would definitely go to Florida. You can’t compare programs.
If Alabama is not keeping up the traditional wins in this year and next, Lane could take the job, or a NFL job. Not any other.
The entire situation at UF is much deeper than just a terrible football coach.
Napier will be on Kiffin's staff at Ole Miss next year. Florida better have a 2nd choice.
I just want to be competitive again. We don’t have to win championships and what not but I’d like for them to at least be one of those teams that’s constantly ranked. Getting blown out by Miami is fine, it happens in football but it felt so much worse than just a blowout. That was like a final giant stab into the program that is already down
I want Lane. I’m all in. But I do not see a path for Lane to be the choice simply because Ole Miss will be in the CFP this year.
Its hilarious to compare Ole Miss to UF
I know right .... look at where Florida is right now compared to Ole Miss.
Bring him in, pay him what he wants, give him what he wants, and he is the guy.
Because it is a lateral move at best. Kiffen gets everything he wants right now. The situation may not be the same at UF.
If we gave Mullen half of what we gave sun belt billy he would still be our coach.
Give a real coach what billy has and it would be something
If Kiffin doesn’t come to Florida he will take the LSU job in two years. Florida needs to jump on the train now while we can.
Reece Davis saying that it’s a lateral move has to hurt the ego maniac gator fan… ouch I still think he’s an option when you write enough 0s on a check.
Being coach at UF is an order of magnitude different than any of Kiffin’s previous stops.
He's coached high level programs before and in the nfl
THERE IS NUN WRONG WITT DA TRANSFER PORTAL SMH❤️🔥🌹💔❤️🩹🌋💚💚
I just got full custody of my daughter away from my ex wife… if Lane Kiffin goes to Florida, I will be almost as excited to welcome him to Gainesville as i was winning the court case.. Kiffin is our guy!!
I hope that's a bad joke, otherwise ur priorities are completely fckd.
As a Vol fan he would have to go against us so yeah hire Lane but do I honestly think he would go there considering what he's doing at Ole Miss nope
As a Gator booster… yes, I’m ok with it
A lot of this is based on absolutely nothing based in reality, dude.
Yes. Ok with that. Don’t want anyone else
And if he got an offer from Bama and he didn't take it with what Saben left talent wise I don't think he'll take a lower team in Florida unless they offer him a ridiculous amount of money
No, the "Lane Train" is not going to Florida. He has everything he needs at Ole Miss, and more importantly, his family loves it there.
This guy makes no sense. Lane creates excitement and wins. He raises the profile of the team.
Relates to players very well.
You mean like he surpassed expectations year 1 at ole miss.
If Kiffin comes to UF, will he stay more than 3-4 years? I'm not so sure he would.
Winning makes anyone fit. Sabam had no ties to Bama. I hate when i see fans and administration say they have to be someone with ties to the school. At Bama we did that for 20 years and guess what we sucked. We went with an outsider and we became the standard and dynasty.
Wrong. You can’t sustain success at Ole Miss
Apparently ya can't sustain it at florida either lol
@@jejbsh2191depends on who the coach is
@@jejbsh2191 he didn't think that one out did he
True.. what do they have next year after all these portal guys leave next year
@@jpb588 What is available in the portal the next go around for $500, Alex? You're assuming the available talent won't be as good and/or Lane won't be able to reel it in again.
Florida will not improve until they replace the AD.... Someone who can find a great coach.
Hes not leaving ole miss lol, and that would be a latteral move
Hope he stays at Ole Miss. Have people forgotten him at Tennessee, and then USC. ? NO KIFFEN FOR ME.
You have to fully to commit to any coach if you want to be a great a team…
Lane/Pete are the only 2 coaches
Thank you. He would leave florida faster and worse than he did Tennessee
If Kiffin is not the guy in your opinion, who do you think is the guy?
I agree ole miss is a better job, florida is a dumpster fire
I just wanted something positive to happen. Getting way to use to being disappointed.
Shout out Carin&Company !!! Shout Jake Carin !!!
What about Bobby Petrino?
Lane kiffin I'd not leaving ole miss
Don’t have a horse in this race. O’le Miss is a better job.
They had two good ones out of 9
Gruden is it.
Keep Napier, in charge of recruiting and culture, we all like him as a person. Win Win
No
Hell no
Muffin will not go to UF why should he urban said he wouldn’t go
NCAA calendar won’t work to hire lane. Lincoln Riley and kliff kingsbury my top choices
SS is all about saving his own skin
Regarded
@@Lachronix He might not. I said he is the most likely hire, Kiffin is the best one. But he will have prove himself running a big time college program successfully first
Interim President Fuchs (when he was the full prez) hired Stricklin and have been hands off for years. He fancies himself an academic and doesn’t care about sports. He won’t do anything. This is Stricklin’s last stop before retirement, he is just trying to buy time. This gives him the best shot
This is the dumbest take. Gruden is better behind the mic than as a head coach. The college game has changed so much, I don't see him being a fit.
@@davidfsanabria no the dumb take was to comment and the make no sense. I said Kiffin would be better I said Stricklin was likely going to do it….mainly because it serves his purposes.
But please since Kiffens probably not coming and Gruden is a bad fit. Who do you think? And why? Or are just another troll?
Please stop with he isn't going to get you a top 10 recruiting class. Talk about old school. I'm so sick of hearing about who is good and not good at recruiting. No matter how much you want to say that recruiting is not about the bag, it's a all about the bag. Guess what J.D.? If I pay you a billion dollars, you'll do whatever I want. Everybody is about getting paid unless you can guarantee them a spot in the NFL which 99% of colleges can't do.
John Gruden is who Florida needs
JC We can stomach it. We have “endured” awful for far too long. I love On3 content and your rationality but it’s almost intentionally contrarian to extol Billy Napiers virtues when he is unquestionably the worst coach in the history of my beloved school and I wish him removed from our beloved sideline because he’s simply incompetent.
