During her career, Milla Jovovich has appeared in a number of science fiction and action-themed films, earning her the sobriquet "reigning queen of kick-butt" from the music channel VH1 in 2006. After early roles in Return to the Blue Lagoon (1991) and Dazed and Confused (1993), she gave a breakthrough performance in 1997's Luc Besson's The Fifth Element. Although the story may seem simple and conventional, the style is quite unique.
In a movie set in a futuristic world with vampires, you would usually expect a typical dark and decadent cyberpunk-esque ambient.
Ultraviolet instead presents a pristine and very colorful, dream-like city. With really creative concepts for technology.
The story itself also feels like a strange fairy tale. Some will say it's cheesy or silly, but I think that really has charm.
