Niki Wonoto overly dark and depressing themes don't make a successful final fantasy. The previous games were too pixeled to be considered dark and depressing. A game like that will halt any new gamers to the genre and it will bore long time players with continuous dark and gloomy backgrounds IMO
I will always believe this "test footage" was ahead of its time, and should lead Square Enix to the right inspiration for the next FF game. The Middle Eastern-inspired setting is something fans have been craving for. Might as well make the characters chibi like FF9.
I know this was solely made for a tech demo but it looked so interesting. I would have liked it to be an actual Final Fantasy main entry but alas Luminous got fucking shot and died a miserable death with Forspoken.
Is there anyone here who actually has a brain and did their research about FF15 and its development time? because I am sick of the whole 10 years thing, it is just a lie. Tabata has even said that the company showing off footage and announcing the game in 200 was a bad idea as apparently Nomura had not even landed on a concept for the story or the world the only thing he had in stone was the main characters. then Nomura sad when he took over in 2013 I believe that FF15 had never really got going because each member of the development team had their own vision and idea for what the game should be and because of this the game kept changing and was never actually programmed before they scrapped one idea and moved on to the next. Tabata completely built the game from the ground up, taking characters and locations from Nomuras work as that is all they had managed to finalise. So really the game has been in development for 4 years and that just makes FF 15 so much better in my eyes despite its terrible pacing issues and off screen BS that drags down an otherwise great story
agreed. i've done extensive research, just not in a video, i did that privately. i can assure you, that even some ideas tabata had at first were completely scrapped. the current game, as we play it, began development around 3.5 years ago. when we got the duscae demo, that was ALL they had up to that point. ALL! (including some character designs)
Belias thankyou so much!!! FF15 has worked its way into my top 3 FF games but I can admit it has some issues but it is beginning to annoy me the shear amount of people that say "after 10 years they couldnt fix theses issues" when it has only be 3-4 years of development. TBH I think they have made a great FF game and I am banking on this becoming renowned as one of the greats in the series in years to come with the free DLC and the paid ones looking set to extend the story and further build the world. Also it is nice for Tabata to address and add in some of the off screen BS such as Ravus and his change of motivation from kingsglaive to the game, Ideolas becoming a Deamon and so on.
completely agree with you about everything you said. 15 is a masterpiece, especially since its only been 3-4 years in the making. most people think major FFs are only 1-2 years in development, which is completely false. FFs tend to take up around 5-6 years of development, so FFXV had a rather short timespan from dev-start to release.
Belias deffinatley, there are flaws, but as I pointed out the story is great but too much happens off screen and the pacing is too slow till chapter 13 where the pacing goes to 100 miles per hour and the fact it is ridiculously hard to get a game over, hopefully these get fixed with the planned updates and then we have our FF great, ps great channel
maybe not for you, for me it is. i have played all final fantasy games ever created, atleast 10 times through, every FF game i have a perfect save file. and i love them all, but i think FFXV is the best. yes, i really do. it has flaws, but every FF entry has its flaws. FFXV starts to be underrated, because so many people don't play and look closely to what happens etc to understand that its a masterpiece.
Although this was a tech demo, I can actually see it becoming a title from SE in the near future. They can even adapt it into the Final Fantasy Series due to the use of crystals, and magic in the scene. Final fantasy has always bounced all over the place, trying out new styles; from cyberpunk to steampunk, and even back to the crystal-rich renaissance medieval style that Ivalice Alliance games had. It would be a fair addition to the series for something like this. Modern/Futuristic Technology against Magic is not an old concept in the FF series.
If that's how Square Enix rolls, I guess so. They've attempted Ecological Terrorism in FFVII. Political Assassination in FFVIII, and even Killed "God" In FFXIII-LR. So I wouldn't really find them thinking of such a concept all too odd haha.
actually, besides from the crystal, there is no connection to typical final fantasy attire just yet. if they would've shown some actual household monsters like ''bomb'' or even ''behemoth'' instead of a random ugly looking piece of shit monster in this tech demo, then MAYBE i would've considered. but if they bring out a game looking like this taliban fantasy 16, i'm not gonna buy this shit.
Ludens but every final fantasy numbered title (ffx, ffxv, ff3) HAS been made by Square. if you're refering to the shit games that no one remembers then that doesn't count
This was a cool tech demo back when I saw it years ago and it still is. Would be cool if they made a game around this setting, it seemed very realistic with the taliban setting but then the city she flies of to looks completely fantasy. Doesn't have to be a FF but would like to see this as a game.
@Detective Joshua Forspoken is totally different from this...only sharing a girl as the lead. Down to the very world and setting...this game is different. So no...nothing to regret.
Toshi Actually this was a test run for systems like the PS4 pro and the up and coming new Xbox 2017. And they passed out surveys to guest witnessing this tech demo, asking about whether they think "Agni" is an interesting character amongst other questions so this MIGHT be FFXVI.
Toshi no, FFXV is 10+ years in the making. This was made for testing second gen of current console a few years ago... Even 7 years ago, FFXV already had direction.. And mutant hyenas and winged dragons that you could fly on in were not in that mix.
Ze Dark so... one thing you're incorrect on is that FFXV was not in development for 10+ years. See, they scrapped a lot of what they originally had, and what we got took them only around 4-5 years to make. Had their direction been solid from the start, and had they not changed things up, FFXV would have been so much better!
I'm glad someone besided me remembers this. It comes off as being too dark for a ff game, this should be a new IP altogether. A Darker more mature RPG with FF elements mixed in. Whatever the case may be I hope this can become something more than just a tech demo.
Could end up being a part of the Type series, since that is what Tabata he wanted for that series. Combine Agni with Samurai Ace from the Type-Next trailer, we could end up with a really cool game.
This is so impressive... Thinking that this video is freaking 6 years old! It's made of ps3/x360 final years and you can really see it... So ahead of it's time already. This would be great FFXVI game. It has potential to be next FF title. Nice! :O :)
This was out beginning/mid Vs13/15 production. It was used to show off the Luminous engine. Though some stuff from the first half was new. The rest, years old.
It's always a long wait for Square Enix products. I waited for Final Fantasy versus13 now became Final Fantasy 15 for 7 years. I am still waiting for Final Fantasy 7 remake.
I know final fantasy 15 had its ups and downs , but I still don't think its bad , either way I liked the old and new story , Let's stop bitching about it and move on with what we got , we got enough.
its time we see a final fantasy inspired in arabe stuff, i mean ffx was japanese, and ffix was medieval stuff european stuff, and ffviii was futuristic, i would love an arabe inspired ff
oh! you are actually right what a hell, i didnt notice. that game was amazing artistically and in design but somehow just slipped out of my mind, the setting was spectacular, somehow the story didnt catch me, all i can remembe is something about the empire and what not
If its FF16, I wonder if that bird thing she rides is Quetzalcoatl as a summon to use in Battle or just to ride to higher places. I would like both tho, honestly. Plus, Quetzalcoatl was in FF8 as a summon so it'd make sense.
The graphics still looks decent today 2019. The reflection and light looks like raytracing effects. The only game I can think of that looks as good as this today is Zero Horizon Dawn, Witcher 3 looks good, but are missing alot the natural feel, Final Fantasy XV is also a decent looking game on windows, but that game is also missing alot of key components. Games that will be released later this year or early next year will definitely challenge this graphics though to the point of beating it in some areas. But, the fact that this was made 2012 in real time is impressive, and again it was leaps ahead of everything els back then. It really felt refreshing and enormously impressive, but the fact that we still are waiting for games in average to look like this makes you somewhat question the hole thing.
I hope they're finally making a game about the War of the Magi....that really looks like this could be what that is.....a prequel to 6. Before the war destroyed everything. And that could've been magicite she had in her hand. Unless it takes place after 6, and that's a remodeling of the destroyed Kefka's Tower...... I just want them to bring 6 back somehow lol it was the best
I just like how the title says “16?” when this footage is from 2012. I remember watching it then and the title was “15?” And then a year later Versus became 15. Keeping up with the times eh?
Really hope this turns out to be XVI or an FF Spin-Off. Really love it when this series explores different styles, locations and aesthetics. It’s a shame that they’re likely not going back to old turn based medieval aesthetic but to be fair, we got 5 main games like that, so I’m glad they keep moving on. The thing is though they’re still making games like that, so if you want that from an FF game, I’d highly recommend: FF 4 heroes of light: A DS game that’s extremely hard and harkens back to the original gameplay style of the old games FF Dimensions I & II: Very similar to the SNES games back in the day. Haven’t played II fully yet but apparently it’s plot is based on the cancelled Chrono Break EDIT: I actually think 16 looks really good and honestly really really looking forward to it
I wish they'd go back to the pre-rendered backgrounds. With the amount of space they can fit on a PS4 disc nowadays they could fit so many pre-rendered areas with an overworld map like they did with Ni No Kuni on the PS3.
I remember watching this back in 2012 (the first half I mean), I was so impressed, I hope there's still some use to this footage maybe even a FF XVI, ended up being more interesting than FF XV
This was just a tech demo in E3 2012, the purpose was to show what final fantasy games would look like in the future using Luminous Engine so I highly doubt that this is not XVI
i have to agree with elton john villa here on this. monsters too ugly. people shooting looking like jihadi terrorists. wtf? dont give me that crap, if i want call of resident evil cause 2, i will get that crap.
seen this few years before. and this footage is like a showcase of their new engine where they can record videos real-time to make this. its like you can pause then change the camera angle then resume.

I would absolutely love to see this become ffxvi. even without context I find this emotionally compelling and the tone is distinctly FF while blending dark elements of the real world. love it love it love it.

Oh, too bad it’s not “real” through, like you said. Guess we just imagined all the others.
I will always believe this "test footage" was ahead of its time, and should lead Square Enix to the right inspiration for the next FF game. The Middle Eastern-inspired setting is something fans have been craving for. Might as well make the characters chibi like FF9.
I hope this becomes a real game. The setting, Agnis, the enemies all look promising. She even looks like a red mage so it fits final fantasy.
I come from the future. All I can tell you is, be careful what you wish for...
@@Kiosade how could have Forspoken come from this? It's so sad. This looks so much cooler.
@@KnightGamer724 they should’ve honestly went with Angi’s Philosophy’s concept rather than whatever Forspoken is, this has potential
So yeah... What Forspoken should have been.
I know this was solely made for a tech demo but it looked so interesting. I would have liked it to be an actual Final Fantasy main entry but alas Luminous got fucking shot and died a miserable death with Forspoken.
legend said that she is Noctis long lost sister.
you said it
Her name is Agni !!! Kinda remind me of Terra Branford.
Terra's much cooler though
lol
"terras much cooler"
you havent even seen past this engine kid
If this was FFXVI somehow, I'd be sold. Love the concept of this tech demo.
Belias deffinatley, there are flaws, but as I pointed out the story is great but too much happens off screen and the pacing is too slow till chapter 13 where the pacing goes to 100 miles per hour and the fact it is ridiculously hard to get a game over, hopefully these get fixed with the planned updates and then we have our FF great, ps great channel
maybe not for you, for me it is. i have played all final fantasy games
ever created, atleast 10 times through, every FF game i have a perfect
save file. and i love them all, but i think FFXV is the best. yes, i
really do. it has flaws, but every FF entry has its flaws. FFXV starts
to be underrated, because so many people don't play and look closely to
what happens etc to understand that its a masterpiece.
this setting looks so much more interesting than what we got with Forspoken
This seems like another "princess who lost everything, and fights back" just like FF12. FF12 was good though.
She's some kind of witch from a cult
Although this was a tech demo, I can actually see it becoming a title from SE in the near future. They can even adapt it into the Final Fantasy Series due to the use of crystals, and magic in the scene. Final fantasy has always bounced all over the place, trying out new styles; from cyberpunk to steampunk, and even back to the crystal-rich renaissance medieval style that Ivalice Alliance games had. It would be a fair addition to the series for something like this. Modern/Futuristic Technology against Magic is not an old concept in the FF series.
they tried all styles. so now its time for taliban style?
If that's how Square Enix rolls, I guess so. They've attempted Ecological Terrorism in FFVII. Political Assassination in FFVIII, and even Killed "God" In FFXIII-LR. So I wouldn't really find them thinking of such a concept all too odd haha.
yea, not my cup of tea though. the whole middle east feeling of this tech demo.
Yea, this tech demo is heavily deep in to the final fantasy lens from the potion, magic, summon, crystal and the character mage design.
actually, besides from the crystal, there is no connection to typical final fantasy attire just yet. if they would've shown some actual household monsters like ''bomb'' or even ''behemoth'' instead of a random ugly looking piece of shit monster in this tech demo, then MAYBE i would've considered. but if they bring out a game looking like this taliban fantasy 16, i'm not gonna buy this shit.
whether or not it is, lets hope majority of the game happens ON SCREEN *cough* ffxv *cough*
Please stop, whiny fans are the worse. Final Fantasy 15 a lot has happened "On-screen" if you don't miss the details.
tomliix oh ok so that’s why we have like 7 story dlcs gotcha.
I'm really hoping for her to be the next protagonist. She is dope.
She looks like Ada Wong from Resident Evil 6
To me shes like Terra Branford, in terms of magic power.
elsa
my ana
was already pronnounced that she indeed is main protagonist of final fantasy XVI and the first without blue eyes
Male lead please, and a very good story where there's a happy ending.
Its sad that this was just a Test Run for the Luminous engine.
Light's Blade One of Square Enix's many lies
indeed but they can still take it as inspiration
Not every game by Square Enix is Final fantasy.
Ludens if i remeber correctly it had some ff related stuff in it...so it might be based on ff but its only a tech demo for now
Ludens but every final fantasy numbered title (ffx, ffxv, ff3) HAS been made by Square. if you're refering to the shit games that no one remembers then that doesn't count
Ludens to you and those who liked your stupid comment -- this video's official name is Agni's Philosophy -- *FINAL FANTASY* REALTIME TECH DEMO
Ludens this is the problem
Finally the comment I WANTED to see......
This was a cool tech demo back when I saw it years ago and it still is. Would be cool if they made a game around this setting, it seemed very realistic with the taliban setting but then the city she flies of to looks completely fantasy. Doesn't have to be a FF but would like to see this as a game.
Sooooo. Do you regret it??
@Detective Joshua Forspoken is totally different from this...only sharing a girl as the lead. Down to the very world and setting...this game is different. So no...nothing to regret.
Ahem, seems like this was later developed into forspoken.
Sadly.
Agnis Philosophy is just a test run engine probably for FFXV back then.
Exactly.
Right? Anything's possible
Coming back to this today, I think it's crazy that we actually have this kind of graphics (if not better) in full length games nowadays ^^
This does have a FF vibe, especially those red mages.
Lmaooo this look more ff than xv
This looks more of a sequel to drakengard rather than final fantasy series
wish there was a fully produced track of the outro song in the cinematic.
Final Fant-ISIS XVI

u are right on the money with tht
I seriously was like thinking really ISIS hahahahaha
In the name of Allah
Ran through that shit like the Taliban
I don't think they would have invested so much time and money in a tech demo if the idea wasn't meant to go somewhere greater.
I'm glad someone besided me remembers this. It comes off as being too dark for a ff game, this should be a new IP altogether. A Darker more mature RPG with FF elements mixed in. Whatever the case may be I hope this can become something more than just a tech demo.
DRAKENGARD 4 AHAHAHAHA
Could end up being a part of the Type series, since that is what Tabata he wanted for that series. Combine Agni with Samurai Ace from the Type-Next trailer, we could end up with a really cool game.
This is so impressive... Thinking that this video is freaking 6 years old! It's made of ps3/x360 final years and you can really see it... So ahead of it's time already. This would be great FFXVI game. It has potential to be next FF title. Nice! :O :)
This looks beautiful. I would love to play this.
This was out beginning/mid Vs13/15 production. It was used to show off the Luminous engine. Though some stuff from the first half was new. The rest, years old.
This should have been Final Fantasy 16
agree
@@NikiWonoto26 Yeah, The medieval setting and crystals have been done to death
too bad :)
It's always a long wait for Square Enix products. I waited for Final Fantasy versus13 now became Final Fantasy 15 for 7 years. I am still waiting for Final Fantasy 7 remake.
Looks much more interesting then Final Fantasy 15 but, don't get your hopes up thinking this is Final Fantasy 16.
I mean.. even if it isn't, it doesnt matter, either its good or isnt good
I know final fantasy 15 had its ups and downs , but I still don't think its bad , either way I liked the old and new story , Let's stop bitching about it and move on with what we got , we got enough.
Ff 15 wad ffvs13 too at the beginning
Agreed!
This feels more FF than FFXV. To people complaining about the slums...well the area near Golden Saucer if brushed up would look like this
From this to a zoomer from New York. That's just sad man...
When this comes out in 2030 I expect it to look like Real life like you can't tell a difference
Taliban Fantasy
Phantom Heaven tales of Mohammed
Phantom Heaven lmao y'all are wild
its time we see a final fantasy inspired in arabe stuff, i mean ffx was japanese, and ffix was medieval stuff european stuff, and ffviii was futuristic, i would love an arabe inspired ff
+Francisco Matos: FFXII was inspired by a Mediterranean and mid-Eastern setting. The design team went to Istanbul to take artistic notes.
oh! you are actually right what a hell, i didnt notice. that game was amazing artistically and in design but somehow just slipped out of my mind, the setting was spectacular, somehow the story didnt catch me, all i can remembe is something about the empire and what not
it looks like both are villains. one side looks like a cult and the other looks like pirates
If we see FFXVI. It will be on PS5 around 2019
Correction, 2026
Starfox 2019? You mean 2026? Lol
So is this just a tech demo or are they going to use this for a future game? Because that would be so sick!
The PS5 Project Athia teaser brought me here.
This IS Forspoken, but unfortunately not in "our" universe.
If its FF16, I wonder if that bird thing she rides is Quetzalcoatl as a summon to use in Battle or just to ride to higher places. I would like both tho, honestly. Plus, Quetzalcoatl was in FF8 as a summon so it'd make sense.
This character looks like she'd be a villain, if not, some kind of anti-hero. It'd be an interesting philosophy for sure...
At first I thought that old man was Noctis` father
Call of Fantasy: Final Warfare XVI
That mountain looks like Adamantoise mountain in XV
I come from the future
This isn't FFXVI
Dammit! So what is this?
I’m from the past by the way.
I come from the future future
Final fantasy xvi isnt xvi because it hasnt already transformed into xvi
@@franwex It's project athia
I hope they're finally making a game about the War of the Magi....that really looks like this could be what that is.....a prequel to 6. Before the war destroyed everything. And that could've been magicite she had in her hand.
Unless it takes place after 6, and that's a remodeling of the destroyed Kefka's Tower......
I just want them to bring 6 back somehow lol it was the best
Luminous Productions just loves to ruin everything! They ruined Final Fantasy XV and now they've ruined Forspoken.
This was just to showcase the Luminous Engine. With them changing to the Unreal Engine in FF7 remake I do not think this will turn into FF16
final fantasy 16 should have story of the 1st version of final fantasy 15
I just like how the title says “16?” when this footage is from 2012.
I remember watching it then and the title was “15?”
And then a year later Versus became 15.
The thing is though they’re still making games like that, so if you want that from an FF game, I’d highly recommend:
FF 4 heroes of light: A DS game that’s extremely hard and harkens back to the original gameplay style of the old games
FF Dimensions I & II: Very similar to the SNES games back in the day. Haven’t played II fully yet but apparently it’s plot is based on the cancelled Chrono Break
EDIT: I actually think 16 looks really good and honestly really really looking forward to it
Chrono.....Break?
@@tmcttf8087 cancelled chrono trigger sequel
@@wreday720 Damn.
I wish they'd go back to the pre-rendered backgrounds. With the amount of space they can fit on a PS4 disc nowadays they could fit so many pre-rendered areas with an overworld map like they did with Ni No Kuni on the PS3.
yea but its amazing how they do this... it looks like fcking reality
Counter-Terorist Win
if forespoken includes some of the ideas from this tech demo it could be really cool
If you guys make it as short as the last game 😓 then forget it!
I love the chanting part... and when the gold starts enveloping her
I remember watching this back in 2012 (the first half I mean), I was so impressed, I hope there's still some use to this footage maybe even a FF XVI, ended up being more interesting than FF XV
This was just a tech demo in E3 2012, the purpose was to show what final fantasy games would look like in the future using Luminous Engine so I highly doubt that this is not XVI
I doubt it... the setting lacks the Final Fantasy vibe..
Elton John Villa You say that like we didn't just play FFXV.
the slum area looks like more resident evil than final fantasy..
***** Why, because there was a similar area in Resident Evil 5? The area she flew towards looked nothing like a RE game.
i have to agree with elton john villa here on this. monsters too ugly. people shooting looking like jihadi terrorists. wtf? dont give me that crap, if i want call of resident evil cause 2, i will get that crap.
They only showed mostly one enviroment.... if this become a game im sure they would expand the world mostly inspired by the middle east.
seen this few years before. and this footage is like a showcase of their new engine where they can record videos real-time to make this. its like you can pause then change the camera angle then resume.
I love Agni, i hope it becomes a full game it looks emotional and very middle east fantasy with reality.Agni reminds me of Terra ff6.Agni seems to be the last red mage alive from her kind to protect the powerful crystal from human kind where in that world science is advance were soldiers can use weapons ore remedy to turn breathing being's in to a creature to fight agaisn't people with powers.
This was a tech demo for the Luminous graphics engine SquEnix made to replace the crystal engine.
That potion was cool
That looks amazing. Now if they only don't forget to tell a compelling story this time.
No guys, we have to wait until they say it's FFXVI and it end up being FFXVIII
I would absolutely love to see this become ffxvi. even without context I find this emotionally compelling and the tone is distinctly FF while blending dark elements of the real world. love it love it love it.
This many years later and we got FF 16 and it's still better than Forspoken
This is now Final Fantasy XVII
i hope this is not forspoken....
and hope SE luminous team is currently working on developing this into an actual game with the same characters/world/ etc
Nah this is forspoken, the hair, the robe, the golden cuff.
I'm crying, it's definitely a fantastic game when it comes out
Broo this needs to come out
Do I have to wait another 10 years for this game? If so, I will be 74 by the time it is released, and, that my friend, I will be too old if I am still part of this world.
Too old to play games? Ridiculous. I want to go out with a controller in my hands when my time comes.
benjor1 haha.. thats cool. i wanna try that too. and yeah no ones too old to play games.. 😆
Oh.. this was 2 years ago. Thanks TH-cam.
I think they should go with this being FF16 because I remember watching it back and thought it was.
