"Square dancing" in middle school was more like turkey in the straw which is NOT square dancing. I think middle school was a deterrent for adults who were subjected to it when it comes to learning real square dancing.

It looks like so much fun but I would get my left and right mixed up..... i’ve done it all my life I have to say my watch hand on my not watch hand and I can’t imagine a square dance caller using those terms! So much fun

If you look at your left hand with your palm down and fingers extended, your thumb to index finger forms an L shape. This doesn't happen with the right hand.

I recently joined a square dancing group and these videos are great for helping to cement some of the moves I'm learning. It would be extra hand to have a full list of all the calls of all the videos so that know which clip to go to when I'm trying to remember or compare them... but thank you for such a great set. I'm not in North America, so can't buy them

Here's a very silly question. I've notice when the ladies circle to the left, they use a little flair step, in back of their other leg, so their skirts have movement as well, but when they circle to the right,,,, dead. Why?

Interesting to watch and contrast with the way we teach the basics of square dancing (mostly to young people) at our "Bush Hoedowns" here in Australia, with music and action right from the start -- much more informal but achieves the same result!
