They don't do it anymore. Gen 2 cars have a battery that lasts the whole race and they don't do pitstops unless there's a puncture simply because they can't do anything else to the car
Night Fury Formular E cars uses wet tires all the time. That’s why FE cars have tires that has threads and F1 doesn’t. (F1 will change into threaded wet tires when there is rain as well)
NASCAR is hands down more impressive than any of the other ones. 6 guys using floor jacks and 5 lugs per wheel. Sure F1 pits are like 2-3 seconds but the have 4 times the crew and 4 lugs instead of 20.

F1 will always catch the eye because of how quickly the whole process is, but for me the most impressive is NASCAR, especially the guy on the wheel gun. The speed and precision to unlock AND lock 6 individual nuts for 2 different wheels as well as removing the wheel is just insane. I could watch videos of that guys perspective all day.. And incase anyone calls me biased, I'm English, I've watched Formula 1 since I was a young child. I just found the NASCAR pit stop mesmerising.
I think i got my first nascar piece of gear when i was in 4th grade, Dale Earnhardt's #3. I loved the sport then, and i loved the sport now. It's a goddamn shame it's dying here in the states. The pit stops have always interested me the most.

I hadn't seen a race since then until about 2 weeks ago, and it was just nothing like how I remembered. The biggest pack of cars on the track consisted of just 3 cars, everyone else was completely separated by several car lengths and there was little to no action the entire time. Also stages aswell now as opposed to 1 big race? What the heck has gone wrong exactly?

It gives history on dale earnhardt, but there's an introduction sequence that includes a brief synopsis on why NASCAR is dying. TLDW: NASCAR has always been the truest american motorsport; Cars made for speed, not for grip, danger, and insane handling. With the new restrictions, the safety improved, and the ratings fell as there was less risk associated with it. Dale Earnhardt's death was the last death NASCAR ever saw, and that was almost 20 years ago.

When I watched a decade ago it was always Earnhardt Jr in the #88 that I rooted for, funny old world we live in eh? I can understand the issues though, Formula 1 is going through similar problems now. The racing is far too safe, overtaking has become a premium rather than a common occurrence, and the cars are just simply glued to the road with all of the onboard technology so there's very little risk of something going wrong anymore outside of the first 2 or 3 laps.. It's a sick and twisted truth, but the potential for something to go wrong is largely what makes motorsport exciting and interesting. I never want to see anyone get killed or injured, but I equally don't watch to watch cars following each other in a single file line around a track with virtually nothing exciting to talk about.
I don't even care for racing but somehow ended up just sitting here watching the entire video of people changing tires (and obviously a lot more). Impressive.

With a crew of 25 people doesnt seem that impressive... For me NASCAR it is, 5 lugnuts each tire, reduced crew, same guy has to change unbolt and bolt 20 lugnuts in 15 seconds... You have to be precise there

Robert Bullard they don’t stop for a charge. It would be impractical and changing a battery could be deadly due to the fact the the battery is pretty much the frame. But it doesn’t matter now because gen 2 cars don’t need a recharge
Yeah, and the NASCAR one was like a year or so ago and the IndyCar ones were from 2012 and 2014. But they r similar now and the F1 pit stop was from 2016. But still they r similar to today but he still should’ve used 2017 footage.

I did too. Sounded like a battery powered weed eater. The pit stop was like changing the battery in my Snap-on impact gun. When they stop for fuel only.. Do they put new D batteries in it.. or get the lithium ones off the charger?
Robert Bullard they don’t stop for a charge. It would be impractical and changing a battery could be deadly due to the fact the the battery is pretty much the frame.
But it doesn’t matter now because gen 2 cars don’t need a recharge

Yeah, and the NASCAR one was like a year or so ago and the IndyCar ones were from 2012 and 2014. But they r similar now and the F1 pit stop was from 2016. But still they r similar to today but he still should’ve used 2017 footage.
