Bha e uabhasach fhèin dlùth ann an 2014. Aig an àm sin thuirt mi gum b' fheàrr leam gum biodh Alba a' fantainn san Rìoghachd Aonaichte, mar shamhla de dh'aonachd a dh'aindeoin a h-uile rud eile. Bhon uair a thachair mi ri mo bhean (a tha gu math, math measail air Alba), a ghluais sinn a dh'Alba ann an 2021 agus a bhog mi mi fhìn sa Ghàidhlig, tha mi air m' inntinn atharrachadh. It was very close in 2014. At that time I said that I preferred for Scotland to remain in the UK, as a sign of togetherness for what it was worth. Since meeting my wife (who is a huge Scotland enthusiast), moving to Scotland in 2021 and immersing myself in the Gaelic language, I've reversed my position.
Hi I am from India I have not listen to magical voice like this before. Hope Gaelic is preserved, this language and music such a big gift it should be preserve at all cost
TEANNAIBH DLUTH IS TOGAIBH FONN O, teannaibh dlùth is togaibh fonn, Mo chridhe trom air m'aineol; 'S mi fad ò eilean nan damh donn, 'S bho thir nan gleann 's nan gallan O, bheir an t-soiridh seo nis bhuam Thar chuan is cruach is beannaibh A dh'ionnsaigh Muile nam beann fuar O, eilean uaine a' bharraich. Och a Righ, nach mi bha thall An tìr nan gleann's nam bealach Tìr nan craobh, 's i tìr mo ghaoil Nan lagan fraoich is rannaich [raithneach] Siud na glinn 's am faighte 'n aoidh Gach roinn chum taobh na mara Tha luchd mo ghaoil an diugh na sgaoil 'S nan aite caoraich Shasainn. Is truagh a'Ghàidhlig bhith na cas O'n dh'fhalbh na Gaidheil a bh' againn A ghineil oig tha tighinn nan àit O togaigh ard a bratach. O, teannaibh dlùth is togaibh fonn, Mo chridhe trom air m'aineol; 'S mi fad ò eilean nan damh donn, 'S bho thir nan gleann 's nan gallan
I'm American but my boss is Scottish. He posted a New Years Eve video that featured Niteworks music, and I've been hooked ever since. Now with this fantastic song I've discovered Sian, and even though I don't understand a single syllable, I can feel the emotion and I get nostalgia for a place and time I've never been. Wonderful work all around, and I can't wait to hear more!
Chunnaic mi na boireannaich seo a-raoir aig Celtic Connections. A' chuirm-chiùil dhe na Celtic Connections a b' fheàrr leam a bh' ann. 'S ann mìorbhaileach a tha Sian! Agus: tha mi taingeil do dh'Obair Oidhche airson an cèol aig Eilidh, Ellen is Ceitlin a ghabhail agus a dhèanamh freagarrach ri ceòl-dealain. Saw these ladies last night at Celtic Connections. It was my favourite CC gig this year! Formidable band! Edit: with thanks to Niteworks for taking Sian's music and setting it to electronic music.
Absolutely love sian their amazing loving this new sound also great to see someone giving a mordern up take to gaelic music but l still a sucker for traditional gaelic music aswell but love these new gaelic vibes rock on sian love these girls they definitely are talented girls well done sian xxx💙🤍💙
Jules and Greg wildswimming series (Skye) brought me here - beautiful music. Just finding the 2024 was the final year from forming when the musicians were 17 years old - what a contribution to music.
During WW2 I lived with relations in the Highlands ,sadly I havelost my mother tongue but i stiil love it ,I dont understand what the lovely ladies are singing, but it is lovely I am 83 .Alba gu brach.
What more can i say but WOW these guys are fantastic, Niteworks you are one of the best bands to come from our gorgeous islands since Runrig and Capercaillie ,more more.❤❤
See a lot of people asking about the language and singer .The language is Scottish Gaelic (Gaidhlig na h-Alba). The singers are a Scottish group called SIAN simply type SIAN into the search engine box on here at TH-cam to see and hear them and Scots enjoying their culture. Also have a look for a Scottish band called NITEWORKS who feature SIAN on here at TH-cam they also feature other great Scottish female voices like Kathleen MacInnes ,Hannah Rarity ,Beth Malcolm on their work.
Loch Lomond👍. Always think the fusion of the girls singing and the music works so well. I don’t know what they are saying a bit like the one with the girls rescuing the guy off a boat I don’t know what they are singing on that one either but works so well.
It's a song about the Highland clearances, the ethnic cleansing of the Gaelic population from the outgoing 18th century to 1886, and therefore the decline of Gaelic as native language of the majority. You will find the lyrics and English translation online.
O sit closer and let us sing a song My heart is dejected in a strange land I am far away from the island of the brown stags And from the land of glens and saplings O take this greeting from me now Over the ocean, rounded hills and bens To Mull of the cold mountains O green island of the birch trees Och o Lord I wish I was over there In the land of dales and mountain-gorges The land of trees is my own dear land WIth heather hollows amongst the bracken O these are the valleys of kindness Especially in the districts beside the sea My loved ones have now departed And their homes are under English sheep-runs It is a pity Gaelic is in such a precarious state Since the departure of the Gaels we knew O youthful race that has replaced them Unfurl the (Gaelic) banner to its maximum height
‘S e òran cho brèagha agus brosnachail a tha seo. Tha an t-òran seo anns an leabhar ‘Gaelic Songs of Nova Scotia’ agam. Agus b’ e aon de na ciad òrain Ghàidhlig a chuala mi a-riamh nuair a bha mi òg ach ’s e do chlàradh as fheàrr.
If any video is the future of Scotland, this is it. I am so proud of the Scotland that is emerging. Tha mi ag iarraidh Alba!
Only if we get out on the street and make it happen

From Sanskrit to Gaelic (Gaidhlig) one family ❤
TEANNAIBH DLUTH IS TOGAIBH FONN
O, teannaibh dlùth is togaibh fonn,
Mo chridhe trom air m'aineol;
'S mi fad ò eilean nan damh donn,
'S bho thir nan gleann 's nan gallan
O, bheir an t-soiridh seo nis bhuam
Thar chuan is cruach is beannaibh
A dh'ionnsaigh Muile nam beann fuar
O, eilean uaine a' bharraich.
Och a Righ, nach mi bha thall
An tìr nan gleann's nam bealach
Tìr nan craobh, 's i tìr mo ghaoil
Nan lagan fraoich is rannaich [raithneach]
Siud na glinn 's am faighte 'n aoidh
Gach roinn chum taobh na mara
Tha luchd mo ghaoil an diugh na sgaoil
'S nan aite caoraich Shasainn.
Is truagh a'Ghàidhlig bhith na cas
O'n dh'fhalbh na Gaidheil a bh' againn
A ghineil oig tha tighinn nan àit
O togaigh ard a bratach.
O, teannaibh dlùth is togaibh fonn,
Mo chridhe trom air m'aineol;
'S mi fad ò eilean nan damh donn,
'S bho thir nan gleann 's nan gallan
tapadh leat a chara!
Moran taing.
*togaibh ard... in the final verse
Nach tiamhaidh na faclan seo :( Tha iad uamhasach breàgha 's gasda, ach nach brònach iad gu mór?

Adicto a Niteworks . No puedo decir mas .

More Sian (Feat. Nightworks) to be fair.

Its a language thats spoken by less than 1% of the population which is sad.
