    15:26 that looks like Berhalter's preferred setup. Putting Reyna on the wings, leaving the team with no one to create centrally. Hope Matarazzo doesn't set the team up like this and actually puts Gio in his natural position. We need a coach who understands the value of a central playmaker in order to have a dynamic attack. Two 8s in midfield is so Gregg. Weah has proven to be our best RW, don't see Gio having any business in that position unless all options are unavailable.

    Thierry Henry almost got Monaco relegated, which is a hard thing to do. He only managed 20 matches in charge and went 4/11/5. He took over the Montreal dumpster fire and had decent results, but he was head coach for one full season. You can't take much from that. The other thing that should be mentioned is that the best international managers weren't great at the club level. The best coaches won't risk their reputation by taking the USMNT job because if they fail, their club career is essentially over. Which is why Klopp said no. It's why Pochettino won't risk it. I know Crocker wanted an established serial winner, but you can't dance unless you have a willing partner. Matarazzo is a very, very good option for the USMNT. The players will know exactly where they stand with him, and he will require them to play hard to the whistle. He's night and day better for this job than Viera or Henry, as well as any MLS coach

    • @FootyWithTheBoys
      @FootyWithTheBoys  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@StatesideFooty27 unquestionably a good manager, and if he can translate his club success to the national team then likely the best hire they can make given the options. For all the reasons you said and more, there isnt many cases of a club manager switching over and having international success, and since we have the most important event in american history for soccer coming up in 2026, would rather have a guy with a track record of international success so that we have a higher chance of this country getting behind the USMNT for the future of the sport

    • @StatesideFooty27
      @StatesideFooty27 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @FootyWithTheBoys . The only thing I'm happy with is that Matarazzo has zero ties to MLS. That's the biggest problem with USSF is that any MLS coach is subject to Don Garber and his roster control for MLS players. Matarazzo will have full control of the roster and won't cave to Don Garber's desire to have an MLS stamp on the national team. Which is why I didn't want Dolo or Nancy. They're not experienced for the national team, but they'd cave to USSF and be a yes man like Berhalter. You cannot fuck around with 2026. We need a coach who will get this team to the knockouts if not better and Matarazzo is equally as capable as Renard. After 2026, they can hire Dolo or Nancy.

    How many players of Henry or Vieira playing abilities turns in to a great coach. Very few. I think this is a good hire to take us forward. He’s under a very good coaching tree. Come one guys. Your line up is terrible, if you put a terrible lineup, you can make any formation look bad.
    Back 3 can be Ream in the middle, Richards as LCB and Scally as RCB. Richards has experience on the left and Scally has experience as CB in a back 3. We can also bring in Maloney or Trusty as the LCB and bring Richards to the middle if Ream drops off the mountain . Or bring Brooks in the middle if he can play consistently for his club. Ream or brooks should not be outside CB. Jedi could play as LCB and even provide support as an overlapping LCB like Sheffield did a few years ago. Tessman could be given a shot at CB if he plays well for his new club. Regardless we need to solidify our defense and having a back 3 could be a good option. It may fail, but we need to try it. We have athletic players who can play here and cover the wing in case the wingback gets caught too high. But having Ream, Brooks, Tessman or Richards in the middle of the 3 to help in distribution could be helpful.
    Center mids could be Johnny, Musah and Gio. McKennie has to redeem himself again, because he had a crap summer. Adams needs to recover, but he can obviously play here. Given it’s a back 3, it lightens the responsibility of the 6 and so Johnny may be more appealing given he provides more going forward.
    LWB could be Jedi, but his ability in tight spaces and under pressure is questionable. He is a better defender who can provide something to the attack, then an attacker who can provide something in the defense. But we can play Paredes there or start Weah who has experience on the left side with Lille. Depends on how Wiley does on his new club.
    Right side is Dest, but until he gets back, maybe Weah. Depends on how Reynolds looks, if we can get Luca to commit to us. Booth may be a good.
    On top, Balogun and Pulisic. Pulisic may be playing more of a 10 role or second striker for Milan this season any way. He could help us get more numbers in the midfield and better control it. We know he can play it well and having Reyna and Pulisic connecting in the middle can be good. Also having Pulisic, Reyna and Balogun on the tip of the spear for counters could be fun to watch.
    I think this is a better formation for us given we don’t have great CBs. There is a reason why weaker teams use this formation. But we can modify it by having Jedi as LCB or Tessman as CB so we can mold it to. A 4-2-3-1 against weaker opponents where we control the ball more.
    Again this may fail, but the 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 may work.

      @@dr.joemarquez I do think there are options, but any of the back 3 options you put together is very scary to me. Also feels like a lot to slot in guys like paredes, wiley or reynolds. Yes they are talented but have not shown it consistently or at a high enough level. There are options to play with for sure, but either way doesnt make up for the fact that his system would often times leave a back 3 very exposed, as shown by how much hoffenheim conceded this past season
