R.I.P Doug McLure...I have to say, this song can bring a tear to a grown mans eye!! The song was worked in brilliantly to the opening scene of "The Virginian - The Legacy of Spencer Flats" and portrays Doug McClure riding his white horse through various stages of travel, and sadly for me, it also marked his last ever performance as "Trampas" in this great, great series. Doug died at 59 from lung cancer. The good die young they say, but he was just far too young. Thanks for the wonderful memories and also, thank you so much Nick Campbell for making it possible!
First used in Doug's Men From Shiloh episode, The Best Man, the words being Trampas' advice to a girl of which of two men she should marry Also known as Trampas' Theme.
I understand! I just found the Virginian and my favorite character is Trampas. So addicted to this show. I had to look up the song and here i am. Can't see anything but the scene you described and this song. So loving it.
So pleased to find this on here I haven't heard it in years, came to my attention in Alias Smith and Jones and I ordered it in special from my local record shop. Thanks so much for uploading it!
I remember hearing this song when I was a kid in the 1970s, on two separate TV Shows, The Virginian and Alias Smith and Jones. Love the songs from my past.
It was also part of a "McCloud" episode. A great and thoughtful song by Shire and Maltby. Tim Morgon should have had a "hit" from this recording. A truly great recording. Thanks for responding. Nick and Mike Campbell
A new CD soundtrack of a film that Tim Morgon was in and did the soundtrack is now available at Amazon.Com and is titled, "Dirty Feet." This piece of music is available at CDBaby on Tim Morgon's Greatest Hits.
We will post another recording of a song written by David Shire and Richard Maltby, Jr., the same song writing duo, soon. Coming, in fact, this evening. N&M
