I don't understand the choice of Ploo. His skills are anti-synergistic with the Bad Batch (ploo synergies interact with Troopers, not Clone Troopers). It is losing a lot of its potential.

For sure. I saw that online as well previously and I think this game is an example of how Plo's potential can really be deflated by the lack of trooper units and force available for his activation.

My first choice would be Obi-wan/Rex/ARF. However, keeping the rest of the squad the same Luminara would be a good pick

That's why Barris is good w/Plo, she can let him get more dice so that he can probably get that free active ability, and she's a Padawan. Or he could've just played Vader1 w/Plo. But Plo activation wasnt great for what he probably wanted to do, so it would've mattered to much but...
