    today we will be taking a look at satin Oribe from the Amoco line Potter's choice pc-15. it will be a fairly simple glaze review of my honest opinion of the glaze and how it works. we tested on white clay we test it on brown clay and we test it with a couple of other things.
    remember to comment down below what you would like me to test next it always helps me to hear about combinations that you want me to try on screen.

    You didn't bad mouth Amaco. You actually provide exceptional reviews so we know what to expect and not be disappointed. I got my Amaco glazes base on your reviews. Hope Amaco will continue to sponsor and support you to do more, and thanks so much for your effort in creating amazing informative content!

    Thanks Dante, an honest review will not keep me from buying a product. Just wanted to let Amaco know... I appreciate your integrity!

    Denim would have been a better name than Oribe. I thick the satiny effect is gorgeous and I like the color. Just the name is wrong.
    I would get rid of the lid and use the tea pot as a water caraf.

    I am new here and I REALLLY LOVE all of these glaze videos!! I am on a tight budget with my pottery and I really can’t afford to do this on my own. Thank you so much for all you do. I do appreciate it!!!

    Letting Amaco know that I wouldn't have bought this glaze as I don't usually use green. But I love this variation of blue and will be purchasing it. I also appreciate the testing on multiple clay bodies. Gives me a general idea of whst might happen with my clay.
    Love your videos ❤

    Thank you for testing this satin with a glossy glaze over it. I really like the effect it made and will be experimenting with other combinations. Satin Oribe definitely shows imperfections in the piece so that's good to know too!

    Great Review -- You're not crazy, I see blue as well; however, I'm am one of the ones who love it because it's kind of a colonial blue. Thanks again!

    I just can’t even tell you how crazy helpful these videos are!! I have always used Mayco glazes but dang the Amaco potters choice glazes are incredible. I’m trying to find a good 5 or 6 glazes that I really like but can also be used with Mayco stoneware!! If you have any Mayco stoneware glazes would you PLEASE test some to see how they work together. Also I have been using Amaco celadons over Mayco stroke n coat glazes but my kiln is not working right now so I haven’t fired them yet.

    Looks blue to me, it looks very pretty I like it. And I love the teapot. The lid is a little too big though. But I would like to know more about how you got that beautiful effect on the teapot body.

    I get the same blueish color with this glaze! It's pretty, but not really green. Mayco's Satin Patina is green and satin,

    Hi Dante. Good review. Perhaps try double or triple pour to get thicker application. (May turn green then.)
    Can try when you do your additional tests w Randy’s Red etc.

    Read and did ....go slow in the end on those dark clays and they won't bloat. Saw a pic of one fired to cone 10 in a woody. Speaking of woody....
    Nice sponge work!

    Definitely isn’t green but it’s one of my favorite blues to work with. The label looks blue to me so I didn’t have the green expectation the first time I used it. Today I learned Oribe pottery is usually green!

    WELL. In case you had any anxiety about the sound quality of your videos...it’s good! I had my headphones on and heard ceramics rattling, and I legit jumped and turned to see where it was coming from. So...good quality alright!

    it might be because you put it on thick. i noticed that with some amaco glazes, pouring them or doing 4-5 layers makes the color entirely different

    What grog dark clay do you use? I use brown speckled or bunkam white with grog ..I like Amaco glazes but not satin just my preference .. I love glaze videos. I always learn. ❤️😊 thanks for sharing

    Really helpful review thanks! So are satin glazes that are labelled as "dinnerware safe" generally okay to use for the insides of mugs and teapots etc if you fire under the conditions stated on the label?

  • @eluvcp

    I find that certain dark clays require lot of oxygen during bisque and glaze firing to prevent bloating

  • @hananhamdan8690

    Does it has to be fired before apply the coats or can i apply it on bone hard clay

    For a great very dark clay - cone 5, try ChoCoLate from NM Clay: nmclay.com/chocolate-clay

    I like the color. What cone are you firing at? When recording how different are the colors on screen from seeing it in real life?

    • @EarthNationCeramics
      @EarthNationCeramics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I bought a pretty expensive camera so, to my eyes, they are the same color. And I'm firing at cone 6 oxidation just like the instructions say.
      I always do.

    • @rhondavalverde7219
      @rhondavalverde7219 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s why your obsidian clay always bloats. It is meant to only go to cone 5 any higher and it bloats. Also slow bisque at 04 to get off all the outgassing.

    -shakes head- I can't believe you cheated on us, but I for one forgive ya for now. I'd say send the sharkfin pot to a patreon. It's not just you on glazes that come out different. I get a few that are supposed to be pink and turn out red or brown, or green coming out well blue.
