My interpretation is that she’s trying to pick at the perception that liking/participating in the traditional roles of American women does not mean she’s *only* a submissive housewife-she is both a wild (hence the wolves), free woman as much as she enjoys the role of traditional femininity. I also sort of take (with more of a reach on whether Lana actually intends for it to be this) the Chemtrails term to be an allusion to the crazy conspiracies that continue this idea of “not everything is what it seems at the country club”, sort of in relation to white privilege. These fancy, “there’s nothing wrong” white people enjoy their country clubs yet they also take the chemtrails to be a sign of a government conspiracy against them. They’re quick to be as evil (the burning and violent imagery of the wolf cult) but also victimizing as those they claim are trying to destroy their white picket American paradise.

that's EXACTLY what it feels like. And that's probably why it resonates with me so much, because I've always been a sucker for coming of age - summer holiday romance and adventure kind of stories.
The one thing is, we can never tell what a Lana album is gonna sound like based off her singles, because Mariners Apartment Complex, Venice Bitch and Hope were all lowkey tracks but then her album tracks did numbers with Doin Time, Fuck It I Love You and Cinnamon Girl. So its completely unpredictable how the album is gonna sound like.

First part is her childhood, her memories, everything is beautiful and pearly; girl is clearly representing Lana, she is driving and thinking about it, second part is adulthood and everything she has gone through, tornado is reference to Wizard of Oz, and represents change; and wolf pack represents how women should take care of each other, and be supportive, but at the same time wild and brave. Those are my thoughts. Chemtrails represents something misterious and kinda twisted over the perfect country club. It's all about contrast. And in the end, she is alone, but at least not sad.

I prefer what she is doing right now-the low-key thing- her voice and her absolutely spellbinding songwriting taking the lead with instrumentals so sparse- it feels like they're being recorded in the next house while she's singing in front of us- but with a a million details packed in (like those guitar plucks before the second verse "meet you for coffee" or the waving pads towards the end). The result is transcendenal- I felt lost in grainy aqua blue skied mysterious woody small town world she took us to. It is dark and mystical unlike NFR but also atmospheric and alive like it. I’ve already seen a few different possible interpretations for the song and video, but I think overall the song is very reminiscing and embodies a longing for wanting more. I think the video shows that on the surface, the country club is full of rich people that put on a facade during the day, but the chemtrails (presumably a euphemism for something much more dark in real life) made them do unspeakable things at night (ex: rituals) shown by the wolves and car burning scene. Then they wash the regret and bad decisions away and continue life as normal the next day. I could see the video relating to Hollywood’s elite and all the messed up things many of then are probably involved in.
I’d say your interpretation is the closest to mine and the closest to being what was intended. So many other interpretations here are shallow and just simply clueless.

Your comment is the closest to mine so far. I believe the entertainment industry is full of wolves/predators who prey on children (no father or mother and they hang around elementary schools or where children are). The secret double life probably involves the occult as well.
I think the lemon biting scene was a flashback to the Tropico video. In that one, she bit the apple and then things turned. Similarly here, the twist in the video happened once she bit the lemon

I swear I saw the album up on YT Music last night. Not there now though.
The imagery of the tornado suggests the "we're not in Kansas anymore" experience of The Wizard of Oz. Notice how the colors shifts to black and white, a photo-negative of TWOZ, when Lana and her crew are caught up in the twister. This film is part of the American subconsciousness, and she references it here, possibly as a lesson she learned - go to the place where you think you want to go, then realize that "there's no place like home". Another possibility is that she's expressing a view that certain men may have of the women in their lives - fixated on their delicacy, submissiveness, and gentility - not realizing that these women are predators, the men are their prey, and the entire "soft" image is constructed to keep men in the dark.

my take on COTCC is that the chemtrails represent control (hence the whole conspiracy of it all), so she has been taught to settle and love the simpler things in life, that's why it's about her friends and family. and now she's surpassed thinking about the things she can't control, so she turns to contemplating God and thinking about astrology instead, because those are literally "above" the "chemtrails". that's why she's seen as unhinged/unhappy, because everyone else is so preoccupied with the "chemtrails" (a metaphor for the problems in life possibly) and she's just wild and appreciating the little things in life instead. she's focusing less on what she can't control and more on the things she can, like her relationships with others. so she sits under and looks at the chemtrails because she knows she can't control them - may as well marvel in them and look at it as her fate on a larger scale, and accept it. the wolf part is just to show she's in a "pack" with her friends, and those are the closest and dearest people in her life. I hope that made some sense!😂

been refreshing so much
In my opinion its a sort of way of her saying ‘im still just as wild and crazy as i used to be but im grown, im strong, im better’. A lot of her fans always say they wish she would go back to singing and making art like she did on Born to Die and Ultraviolence. But Lana isn’t in a bad place anymore like she was back then - shes happier, shes not surrounded by toxic people (thats why shes got her friends with her, shes showing that shes not as alone as she used to be/feel). A couple of the shots in this video are direct callbacks to shots in the Ride music video, where she was singing about how she had no home and very lonely - however shes now showing thats not her anymore, shes come into herself. The whole wolf idea is a way of her directly expressing this newfound maturity and strength - the shewolf is powerful, magical, mystical. While Lana is no longer as hurt and damaged as she once was, shes still fucking crazy, and shes still free.

I highly recommend buying the audiobook Lana Released on Kindle, Violet Bent Backwards Over The Grass. It’s a collection of poetry she wrote and narrates herself. I believe some of the symbolism may be connected to that collection of poetry. You should also do a reaction of it if you haven’t already!

I think the main theme, is that she’s realized that reality is just that-reality. it’s neutral and everything that one experiences is made up by the individual. life can be made into what ever fantasy one wants, but, reality itself is plain and that can be boring. so while she’s realized reality is simple, and enjoys simplicity, she recognizes she loves the drama, and she makes it happen. which can be a tough pill-realizing one is the creator of one’s experiences!!

I think that she's taken inspiration from a book that she's read and shared before called Women Who Run With The Wolves. What I'm getting from the video is pure nostalgia, and I think the young girl in the video could be Lana as a child. I think she's really cherishing what and who she loves and rediscovering her younger and more wild self. It's about having two/multiple sides to you, she's portraying a particular version of herself day to day with her friends but then they meet on a night to let out their inner wolf... to roam free and be wild, to be who they really are and want to be - they can do this around each other because they share such a tight knit bond (like a pack of wolves. It's such an inspiring song and video and I'm still emotional from it!😭

She is speaking about a relationship with women. In the first verse she used the market and kids swimming pools as a inconspicuous meeting place. In the second verse it was brunch at elementary schools. She even out a hard reference on sexual fluidity when she says " nobody's son, nobody's daughter" the imagery with the vampires was kinda a big give away to. If u realize that in the end one of the girls returned to bed with her husband, and two of them went to bed together, then lana went to bed alone( if u listen to her music you would know that she is comfortable being the "other woman" and as such she returned to her empty because she isn't committed to anyone. The track name is a dead giveaway too. Conspiracy theorists believe that chemtrails turned people guy.

My leo is sun my cancer is moon, makes you think of the imagery throughout the video. I've watched over and over and it becomes more and more clear.
The way I saw this video was basically cut into two parts. The first part of the video is basically her portraying what Hollywood would deem the perfect woman/wife. The version that Hollywood feeds society through the movies which is what the Chemtrails symbolize. All the efforts to created a “domesticated” woman. Just another housewife who can’t/won’t think for herself. But NATURALLY(tornados), the housewife (Lana) finds herself. And she wants to be free of all of society’s standards. Which she states, “I’m not unhinged or unhappy, I’m just wild”. She’s not crazy or unhappy with her life but she wants to be a free soul. She no longer wants to be who people think she SHOULD be. She admires the wolf, nature, and its ability to be free. So in the second part she becomes a woman who takes pride in being herself regardless of what society thinks is right or wrong. Free and wild.
