Mulberry is the most overlooked firewood known to man....most dont know its 96% as good as red oak....people think its junk wood and frown down upon it....it burn great too...

Lets see that (possible) Osage Orange you got.. I've never seen that and always wanted to find one I could trim a branch off, just found a big downed mulberry today and got this in my recommendations then.. (Phone is listening always) but I heat my home 100% on firewood in PA and I'm already getting 2022's firewood. my usual burn is black locust and the occasional hard maple and red maple or dead ash .. No Oak or Hickory in my area of woods sadly as I love the smell, got a little Apple and Mulberry today both of which smell pretty nice though... Always been interested to find that Osage Orange though!

I wish I DID have some O.O. to compare with Mulberry. I only know of one tree just 4 miles from me, right next to the road.
There is no place to pull off for me to do an illegal 'trimming' of the O.O. - lol
      - and thanks for commenting!

What does it smell like? Fruity, sweet, mellow?

It burns alright. It's better if you add to existing fire instead of starting a fire with it. It does have potential to spark & throw ambers; but not alot. I warned one customer about it & she later told me one amber shot out and landed down her shoe :)

Why split your firewood so small? Those match sticks burn real fast. Logs burn slow (all night).

I split bundle wood to a smaller size which makes about 18 pieces per bundle. Customers have commented that they perfer this vs 4 -5 big pieces from big box stores. They're using it for a 2 - 4 hr burn in a fireplace or evening campfire & want a fire fast and lots a flame (ambience). I sell bins & racks with larger, regular splits. And I have 1 rack for boiler wood (big gnarly pieces) - Variety!

@@TheFirewoodHut yep it's best to have a lot of sizes to choose from for sure.

Hedge sparks / yes some mulberry.
It's a hard dense wood so it's gonna happen.
      Especially when oxygen hits it
