Introducing Allissa to a horse is your first mistake. Did this with my daughter. She's fifty six now and and is in equestrian endurance athelete and is currently down to four Arabians. It's a VERY expensive hobby. Vet bills, Masseur Bills. Dentist Bills, Ferrier Bills, Feed and Special feed Bills, Hay and riding equipment. Saddles and helmets are not cheap and then there are entrance fees for all events. You do not make any money winning a competition. Points and a trophy. My daughter never quit after her first ride at the age of seven. It was even hard ti get her out of her riding gear cause she loved the smell. All in all I'm very proud of her. Four thousand miles on horseback is pretty cool. GOOD LUCK!!

I used to be a huge racing fan. Went to the Derby twice as well as visiting many tracks in several states. Racing's not cool though. There's tremendous overbreeding and most horses are eventually discarded (ending up at auction where many are bought by meat buyers.) Hundreds die each year on the racetrack from fractures due to illegal drugs in their system. Others die of "accidents" for the sake of insurance claims. It's very rare to see an old racehorse that's been well taken care of.

You don't have to do everything the lady was doing to her horse but that gives you a better relationship with the horse and the horse will look really nice!! But so long as you brush it everyday and make sure it is at least a little clean and spend time it you will be fine!😃
