Those are both impressive rounds from a snubnose. I would be interested to see what that buff bore would do out of a 4'' or even a 6''... Great tests, thanks!
Good test for sure - thanks. They both did very well but the Buffalo is def the winner here. I think the old original SWC HP lead bullets had great stopping statistics back in the day - like the 60's. Looks like the Buffalo bore is duplicating if not exceeding those old loads.
Thank you so much for using the ballistic gel that actually Captures more of the kinetic energy dump....the pure clear gel is way to "springy" and fails in representation, in my opinion
Buffalo stampeded the Punch here. Impressive 38 Special offering. Lead Wadcutter performance is really good. Punch performed better than average. Expansion is always a plus with 38 snubby. The Buffalo Bore looked as good as a good # of 9mm. Thank you.
Only .38 Special rounds I'll carry in any gun are the 158 LSWC +P from Buffalo Bore, Underwood or Lost River...they are all outstanding and equal or exceed the original .38-44 rounds...and run 27k psi...
That BB is my cart rnd in my model 64 3 inch barrel. Very impresive out of the 1.87 barrel! Recoil in my steel k frame is fine....not too much. Out of a 642 or similar? Not for me.
It certainly can be if you do your homework and choose wisely. I’ve ingested enough data to note these modern Taurus and Ruger lcr barrels yield a little more fps than older S&W and Colt barrels. Sometimes that’s true with newer S&W and Colts as well. This BB load likely has enough fps to hit expansion threshold regardless of variables like manufacture and atmospheric conditions. The Federal Punch is right on the ragged edge of expansion threshold. Mentioned variables could easily knocked it out of expansion threshold. Imo BB should load this Federal projectile. Another 100-200 fps is exactly what that Punch needs. That would likely be a fantastic load for Airweights.
@@h.r.puffnstuff8705 believe it or not, a favorite carry round for ME in a snubbie is LRN 158 gn. I base this on not reaching expansion threshold (possibly) and the soft lead deforms nicely and 158 gn bullet is nothing to sneeze at. Just my opinion of course, but Grandpa's special seems to have done the trick lol
@@mattspriggs5945 that’s an excellent choice in my opinion. I’ve known several fellas that carried personally owned 38S snubs in war zones and used them. Heavy for caliber LRN or wad cutters were the only loads they would carry.
127 grain Black Hills projectile in 357 Mag has best potential IMO. It’s like underwood defender but longer and sharper screwdriver tips. Ok can maybe tumble at snubnose velocity but it has the best potential when it’s spinning into the ballistic gel with his long sharp edges. Maybe a good shot to impress the viewers and get a high view video.
Hey @AZAirgunner I filmed my first Ballistic Bologna test today to OG Gun Sam Protocol .38+p Hyrashock Deep vs Remington UMC from 2" snub, 9mm 124 Punch & HST vs WWB 115 from 3.2" Micro, & will get to testing the NEW .357 Magnum HST vs Old School Hyrdrashok vs.....idk either Critical Duty or likely Silvertip since not too many tests from it from a 3" Ruger. I emailed you the unlisted links let me know your thoughts.
EXCELLENT TEST! Thanks again for providing these real work test...I have to say that your demonstrations are tops on TH-cam. Other Tubers could learn a lot from your presentation style. Tremendous performance with the Buffalo Bore!
Thank you very much my friend, I really appreciate that a lot!! I'm tryin lol. That BB was definitely some nasty stuff. Always does pretty well in the tests. Thanks again buddy I appreciate all the kind words and support for the channel!! Plenty comin😁.
I currently have the federal punch in my snubby. Looks like i might have to buy a box of the buffalo bore though. Which one would you say you're more accurate with?
WTF my federal punch has a traditional brass case. It looks like yours has the nickle plated. I do have the 120 gr 38spl +p. Bullet looks the same and my brass is stamped federal 38spl+p
I like split times around .25s-.35s. Would be pretty tough to get accurate hits at that speed with a lightweight snub and those BB's! I prefer a softer lead at a little less velocity. (Ex. BNH@12 GT Bullet LHP 165 gr @ 915 fps) Very manageable recoil. That Punch isn't great or bad. Pretty similar to many 124 gr 9x19 JHP's from @3.5 in barrels.
Finding a good 38Spl for a sub nose is not easy. Excellent, thanks!
Ur absolutely right, not many out there. Thank you buddy!!
Those are 2 of the best 38 special loads I have seen..

Great tests, thanks!
Thank you!! I will test it out of a 4" soon 😁👍. Should be extra spicy🌶.
The Buffalo bore was impressive. Great video
Thanks as always buddy!! That BB is some nasty stuff.

Those buffalo bore .38's dont play no games 💯

I actually carry a 38 special sometimes, as 1 plus one equals none! So always carry a backup to a backup! lol

Thank you sir!! Maybe I will put it up against some 9mm soon to see how they compare. Thanks again!!
You can't go wrong with any of the Buffalo Bore Deep Channel Hollow Points.
This test showed impressive penitration and expansion. Makes me feel proud I purchased the Federal Punch! "Yes"

Amazing how people count the .38 SPL out as old and not capable. This test shows otherwise...

It's put many people in the ground.
That buffalo bore performs better (at least in gel and out of this sample size) than some 9mm out of a 4 inch barrel. Really impressive!
Thank You For Sharing This Ammunition Comparison. Excellent Presentation And Testing !
This test was great. Thank you. Pretty impressive for a 2" .38 from both. The BB? Wowsa...
Thank you sir!! 💪💯
Both are great from a snubby but that BB is a beast! Very impressive!

Great performance from both. The BB surely won the day
BB my current carry round.
You made me laugh, thanks 😂
Great choice.
That's .357 mag 158 gr snub velocity! Ouch.

Punch looked good but that 158 buffalo bore dam! Big ass mushroom! That would mess you up!

Very good test my man! Could you test the Rem XTP 38 spl. 158 Gn. LHP + P. This is the FBI load. I liked and subbed
Buffalo bore, underwood, cor bon. Nuff said
Good stuff!
Pena não ter aqui no Brasil as Buffalo Bore a venda, sem dúvidas seria a munição que eu usaria!
✨👍 excellent
I'd like to see some 357 mag snubby vs 5-6" barrels.
How was the recoil on that ultralight with that 158 +p?
Can't find any +p here in northeast PA .
Not that much difference in performance but I bet there is a big difference in manageable recoil. The 125gr for me.
AZ, i have a request can you test Buffalo bore 125g 357 sig ammo against underwood’s 124g, that seems to be a interesting test
Wouldn’t want to get shot with either one, might sting a bit.
WTF my federal punch has a traditional brass case. It looks like yours has the nickle plated. I do have the 120 gr 38spl +p. Bullet looks the same and my brass is stamped federal 38spl+p
Nice
Thank you!!
I have a smith model 60 no dash. U think its safe to use buff bore in it?
Just acquired a Rossi m68 38 special stubby. What brand and grain would you recommend. See a lot about hornaday critical defense 110 grain plus p?
big big difference between 500fpe and anything below 400
Can you do a 158gr fmj 357 vs 158gr fmj 38
Do 125gr 38 vs 357
How did that Buffalo Bore feel in that Ultralight?
Definitely pretty stout, manageable but u can tell ur really shooting something. Quite a bit more than that punch👊.
