    Will a Bluetooth microphone work with the Sun SDR Pro2? I'm not suggesting that you plug the USB part into the front of the radio, that bit will go into the PC like it normally does. I was just wondering whether the SDR radio will find a Bluetooth microphone. Or is it a case that you have to use a microphone that is hardwired to the computer?

    In your video I assume you are just using the power of the radio which I believe is 20 W? I have one of these radios on order and hopefully will be receiving very soon. However, I will be wanting to use more than 20 what so I was hoping it would be very straightforward to attach my SPE expert 1K amplifier to the SDR radio. However, I'm not sure how the amplifier is going to work with the radio. I have an ICOM 7800 which is connected to the SPE amplifier and when I tune the radio the amplifier follows the frequency of a radio. I've got a cat cable connected in between amplifier and 7800 and I also connect the cable into my CT-17 ICOM interface.

      Hello Pen,
      You can use two ways of control your PA:
      1. ABCD interface for band switching - connect 4 open collector switches for ABCD control and PTT line for TX from ExtCTRL connector on the rear panel of TRX.
      2. Connect CAT interface from PA to PC for frequency control. If your PC does not include phisical COM-port you can use USB-to-COM adapter cable. And PTT line from TRX to PA for TX control.

      Thanks for the reply. What I was hoping I could do is connect the SDR to my network switch which goes into my router and gives me more ports to connect things into. I don't really want to connect the SDR into my PC because I want to use the SDR remotely from another computer that is located in another room occasionally. If I connect it to my PC in the shack then that means I'll have to have the shack PC switched on whenever I use the SDR. Obviously if I do use the SDR from another computer then I will have to have the SDR switched on. However, what I want to achieve is having the SPE amplifier switch on automatically when I turn the radio on, very much like it does with my ICOM 7800.
      My SPE amplifier has got a built-in ATU and what you do is tune each portion of the band and the amplifier remembers this.

      I received this reply from the company who make the SPE amplifier, is also sound like a good idea?
      Hello,
      following the SUN Pro2 SDR user manual, the PTT is on the pin8 of EXT
      CTRL connector and the ALC has a dedicated RCA socket.
      Regarding the CAT control, you have to create a COM port inside the PC
      software and set the amplifier to use CAT Kenwood at appropriate
      baudrate. The schematic of the CAT cord is the same of the Kenwood
      transceivers, page 31 of 1K-FA user manual.
      Hope this helps.

      Yes, this is correct information from SPE manufacturer.
      ALC interface is not supported in the radio's software for today. You can adjust a maximum output power per band in the ExpertSDR2 options menu. This way better than ALC.

    I should be receiving my Sun SDR Pro2 on Tuesday. I've watched one of Martin Lynch's videos that shows you how to configure the radio. What they do is plug it initially into the computer and after it has been set up they then plug it into the network switch. Is this the way it has to be done or could I plug it into my network switch straightaway and still configure it successfully? Also, if I need to plug it into a PC to begin with can it be any PC that is connected to my Internet router?
    One last question, how do you go about working remotely from another computer in another room? I don't want to have to have two PCs on if I am working remotely from my bedroom. That's why I want to plug it into the network switch.

      1. Radio has default static IP address 192.168.16.200. There is no DHCP function.
      If your home network based on 192.168.16.xxx subnetwork, you can connect radio directly.
      If your network has difference, you should connect radio directly to PC and follow instructions from Quick start guide. The goal to set the same subnet in the radio as in your reuter.
      2. You can have access to radio from any PC in your network. It's not remote control as Remote control system like in this video. It will be normal access via LAN.

    If you watch the setup and obtaining IP address tutorial by Martin Lynch on TH-cam you will see that he plugs the SDR radio via ethernet cable into the back of the PC. Does that mean that your PC doesn't need to be connected to the Internet whilst you are obtaining the IP address for the SDR radio? The reason I ask is because I only have one LAN cable port on the back of my computer. Also, if I plug the SDR radio into let's say computer one and set the IP address. Can I then plugged the SDR radio into my network switch and use computer 2?
    What I had hoped to do is use either computer in my shack. If I plug the SDR radio into the network switch then it's not as if I am limited to one PC.

      Yes, you can connect transceiver to the router(switch) and use it via network from any PC in the network.
      Main requirement - radio should has the same subnet in the IP address as in your network, e.g. (192.168.1.)200 or (192.168.0.)200. As default radio has static subnet in IP address (192.168.16.)200 and you should connect radio to PC directly, set new IP address and then connect it to your home network.

    Vasily, I'm very interested in the SunSDR2PRO specifically because I want to run it only on Ubuntu Linux. I saw that the newest radio is running Windows. Are you going to continue to build/develop/support ExpertSDR2 for linux or is the new direction to be focused on Windows? I do not want to run it on Windows at all. Do svidania.

      ExpertSDR2 software works under any operational systems - Windows, Linux, Mac OS.

    I had a problem with my PC that has Windows 10 installed. I had to end up reinstalling the operating system. I reinstalled the Expert software but now when I try and open the software I just get a white box come up for a couple of seconds and then everything closes and basically the SDR software will not open. Any ideas what's happened?

    I seem to be having problems with transmitting on 145 500 MHz FM. Signals are quite distorted coming in and my transmissions are not very good either. Not sure why, any ideas?

    • @R6NY
      @R6NY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Distorted NFM signals in RX mode means your RX filter narrower than should - make filter wider 12, 15 kHz or wider. You can see it on the spectrum scope - received signals must be inside your filter.
      What is wrong with transmitted signal?

    • @Penn1969
      @Penn1969 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@R6NY I managed to sort the received out now by increasing the bandwidth 12 kHz . However, people are telling me that the transmit quality is very very poor. I'm assuming I should have the microphone AGC on?

    • @Penn1969
      @Penn1969 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Okay, panic over, I have managed to sort the modulation out and it's really good now apparently. I think the problem may have been that I had been using my Logitech web can as a microphone and didn't realise that I had taken it off the top of the monitor and put it somewhere else so maybe that is why it wasn't very good. Also, microphone gain was an absolute zero so I moved that up slightly so made a difference. Just one other question. Can I assume that the radio knows which antenna to use when you are on a specific frequency? Somebody told me on Facebook that I had to remove the HF aerial when I wanted to use the HF, thought that was a bit strange. Then somebody else told me that there were filters. From what I can tell the radio knows when to use my Diamond 2000 VHF antenna and when to use my vertical 10/12 meter antenna. So I'm assuming I can dismiss what was said?

    Assuming you are the guys who sell this transceiver, do you know why the UK hasn't got a stock of them at the moment? I still haven't got mine, very frustrating.

    • @R6NY
      @R6NY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello Penn,
      Yes, I represent Expert Electronics (manufacturer of this radio). The fact that there is no stock in UK is our fault. There was a gap between the batches, that is why you havn't got your radio.
      Last week we sent a new batch of transceivers from manufacturing to UK. So, you should get your transceiver soon.

    Hello Vasily,
    thank you very much for this great demonstration.
    I am going to buy one SDR2 Pro and I would be glad if you could demonstrate remote cw operations using the dedicated E-Coder EP Controller.
    It would be nice if you could explains differences between front panel HP audio jack ad audio listened from PC speakers. I suppose the second one has some latency.
    Also, I would like to know when will be released the full-duplex feature.
    Thank you very much

    I have installed the portable version of Apache HTTP-server in my computer with windows 10
    and running ExpertRS 0.6.4
    Issue 1: I have to use firefox to conect because with chrome navigator it's not posible use the microfone except if I conect directly to localhost:8080/
    Issue 2: When I conect from external IP I see the microfone lever working but the power ouput is 0 watts and I have the drive to 100%.
    Issue 3: There isn't PA buttom to activate my amplifier
