- The other day I was scrolling through Amazon looking for interesting tents and I came across this. This is from a company that I am sure you all have heard of before…
Whit-Sunday!
(Yeah Right)
What I found so interesting about this tent was the impressive ventilation, the 2 doors and 4 awnings along with an instant setup.
When I saw this shelter, I was thinking, this would be awesome for underneath a big tarp...

I really want to see you do a waterproof test on this. I'm curious to see how it does.
I’m intrigued Ooooooll Luuuuuuke
….ok no
Suuuuuzzzzzie!!!!!!
Yanno what sucks? It’s when you go into the deep and you get shown the back of MotherNsture’s hand. In the biatch slap position
Good presentation
Definitely an interesting tent for sure. Thanks for the look Luke 👍
Not questioning your knowledge, but would like to see a video of that shelter in the conditions that you say it's not capable of. Will be very interesting! Thank you Luke!
The rain-tarp test is going to be interesting, to say the least. I'm looking forward to it.
Do the rain test, it may turn up to have even better value than you think. Nothing to lose.
It's kind of a cool tent! Spray it with water repellant and it may just do the job in the rain - adding a tarp is a great idea
This is a very niche use case, but one that's exactly what im looking for.
I've been watching your videos from when you first got started. What a big difference from then and now. Young brother you've come a long way. I personally appreciate what you and your wife do for your followers. Originally my family is from Hickory . Now I'm in Texas. Again thanks for your knowledge. Strength and Honor.
It looks like a nice tent . I definitely like the design of it.
Luke interesting idea of using it under a large tarp.
Please do a rain test !!!!
Cool! I could see doing some good old ham radio operations in there. And the way the bands are right now, CB’ers would have fun too. And a big tarp will help keep the sun from beating directly on the tent.
Looks like an extravagant beach shelter almost more than a tent.
I say go for it. It looks nice to me
Whitsunday is a place in Queensland Australia it's along the coast which is called the Whitsundays it's beautiful so that's where the name comes from but don't know where the tents were made 😁
Australia for the Win 😂 gg
As DJT said famously "CHYNA".
Whitsunday is also the 7th sunday after Easter.
About an hour up the road from me, great place to be.
The Whitsunday islands in Queensland was named by captain James Cook after the Christian holiday whit sunday which falls 7 weeks after Easter, it's celebrated by a lot of European countries. In England it was a tradition to get a brand new set of clothes for Whitsunday but I am not sure if it's still celebrated....
After working with BSA scouts and using cheap tents, we always had a tarp for each tent ⛺️. Good tents for backpacking and cheap ones for normal camping
SOLID plan! Can't wait.
With a Tarp...Might be good decision....Can't wait see it in action....
Will be great with tarp
I have bought pop ups , a frames , as years came along in my life mobility is the focus ,,under 100 bucks with an opening I don't need to crawl and only 10 pounds . Yes this is a Game changer I also see the need of a large tarp, for my last pop up pooled water at the top for it did not come with any fly. This will go on my wish list.
I like it and under a tarp it will be great. Might get one.
Looks very nice and would be fine in dry conditions which often are found in spring and fall or even summer in the Sierras.
I'd say go ahead and waterproof test it. If it leaks, contact the manufacturer and show them your evidence. At least it might force them into changing the product description. If it actually is waterproof, that is a win for the consumer.
I love it Luke !!!
I like the large tarp plan.
Great plan😊
The first impression or idea i had come to me immediately, when i'm at the bushcraft homestead, i need to be able to just sit down a lot of times throughout the 24 hour day period when awake, whether working on something or not. A screen canopy is too much hassle constantly every day. This would make a great sitting box, keep the doors open when bugs arent too bad, you get shade, some wind shielding for papers on a desk, and less chance of bugs flying onto you, of course when it rains too, and you can close the doors if needed. see they have these "sitting pods" like a mini one person pop up thing you can sit in with mesh and a door but they're tiny and just meant for ballgames and you and a beer with a chair. i would think of it as something better than nothing instead of sitting all day in open air wild, and could be used as a tent with a tarp over it no problem, which is cool because i grind til exhaustion then just wanna lay down and pass out a couple hours.
This does seem like a nice rig for a fare-weather, low-maintenance chill and grill solo or as a couple. Also an inexpensive way to introduce family to camping/outdoors.
with the ease of set up, I can see it being great for long weekend park camping.
It would be interesting to see the results from a moderate rain test sans tarp to disprove the waterproof claim. I agree it will work well with your tarp plan. Keep your great videos coming.
It’s funny looking back at camping with my dad and waking up wet in the morning. You always just assumed all tents were waterproof.
Yes large tarp 👍or sunny days 🙂 good value
Looking forward to the test.
As has been mentioned Whitsunday is a religious holiday falling 50 days after Easter. It is also known as Pentecost. Whitsunday is a term for the holiday from the church of England.
I like it for what it is, at that price point. Still want to see how it performs during your testing. Great versatility.
Looking forward to the test night video. Might get one at the end of the chemo cycle, I am once again.🤙
It’s an interesting tent. I see and agree with your logic
Time for a test night
Luke.. I've seen a pop-up tent like this A year or 2 ago from Reactive Outdoor but double the price. Thanks for the video.
To Luke, all shortcomings and deficiencies can be fixed with addition of a large tarp.
I’m looking at a blue tent. The same color as your Patagonia top. 🤔
I could see a young family taking a fall daytime break with the kiddos at a park.
Set this beside the RV and let those rowdy kids be kids!
A good festival tent where avoiding sun and bugs is more important than rain.
Good plan
My first thoughts when seeing it was a sunny day shelter that you would use at a swim meet or other sports/ community function. Short-term events shelter. But I do understand what you're talking about with the tarp protection giving it a different use. Nice.
I am interested in this tent.
I like the plan for under a tarp. Please do the waterproof test though
Nah, it's not junk. The rain test is indeed in order. Under a tarp, for sure. Season specific, yes. Your plan for further testing, I agree.
Whit Sunday is celebrated in the UK as the 7th Sunday after Easter.
Whitsunday is a chain of islands in northern Australia
Is this from Whitsunday Island, Australia? Unusual name
This past spring, I bought a 3-person tent that has virtually the same setup as this one, but it doesn't have the awnings on it. The first thing I did was to seam seal and use a silicone spray on it and gave it a hose test. I had no water issues after that. To be fair, I did not water test it prior to doing my alterations. Like your recommendation, I would not trust this tent in high winds, the hinges on the frame of the tent don't look to be capable of withstanding anything like that, they're plastic with some cheap rivet type of pin through them. In mild conditions, sure, but...
Thanks for the review!
As an Australian, I thought this might be an Aussie tent company because we have the beautiful Whitsunday Islands (a group of 74 islands off the Queensland coast) here. Did some checking and no - it's based in California as far as I can tell.
Glad u mentioned it, was going to buy one, support the Aussies, so no buy for me !
It does look like a good summer only under tarp tent. Would I be willing to give up my Coleman done tent for it - no. My Coleman done is super water proof, actually surviving and not leaking during the remnants of hurricane katrina. Thanks for sharing the tent info
Whit Sunday, or Whitsun, is also known as Pentecost - the seventh Sunday after Easter. The week following is Whitsuntide - another prime name for a random company...
Maybe the company is founded by Seventh Day Adventists. 🤷♂
Please send me more information on the tent
At last someone who knows what Whit Sunday is!
@@LindyP Has the lack of knowing driven you to your Whit's end?
@@scotbotvideos Lets hope not.
Whitsunday, the seventh Sunday after Easter
It would be interesting to get your thoughts on the RV range of Oztents, RV3, RV4, etc.
Lol, it is a niche tent! The company is in Torrance, California, a coastal city in the LA area. They average 14 inches annual rainfall and temperatures are generally over 50° F. Lots of beaches and parks. A very good tent for casual camping and day use …though one had better get some sand stakes for a day at the beach!
It's a cute tent
Whit Sunday is what we call Pentecost in the UK. Some new tents in the UK come with seams that are not sealed. They say the stitching expands when wet and seals the seam automatically. Many come with a tube of gel to seal the seams yourself. In saying that I do not know if this is what this tent does nor if that type of system actually works. Be worth rain testing it just to see.
For the very specific scenario you describe in the video it looks perfect! I doubt there is another tent with better quality close to its price that can came close to it.
Try the Snow Peak Alpha Breeze. 4 doors and one awning.
I like it. Pretty sure it was marketed towards the summer travels crowd, (car/motorcycle camping etc.),. Folks who maybe go a couple times per year at most and want easy setup. Tent stakes for me are sometimes a clue to overall quality regarding stitches/zippers. Undersized bent wires are often included in entry-level and aren't that encouraging to me personally. Of course you'll pack better ones. But I could be wrong here. I love the awnings big-time. I would actually consider this for my off-road car/motorcycle camping due to it's size/weight/features. Thanks for the review. Cheers. 👍
would have a coverage tarp over the camp tent area. I like the venting.. tub floor looks thin and tiny however, but this tent might work on a raised tent pad that drains water off the side of the pad.
Try with not rolling back the doors but unzipped and hanging loose. Will stay mostly closed and the awning will keep out any rain.
I’m betting it leaks like a screen door. However, I think your onto something with your placement under a large tarp idea.
Hi Luke, hope you and Susie are doing well!! Brother, please, let us know which tarp you’re planning on using? I’m thinking about upgrading my Helikon Tex super tarp, I’m always looking out for my boys Groot and Fenris, my Great Danes!! Looking forward to watching your next adventure, STRENGTH AND HONOR my friend be well!! 👍🏽💯🇺🇸
No disrepect because I do enjoy your channel. You are more knowledgeable than myself, and I will admit that. With that being said, you say no way to it being waterproof. Test it out just to prove it.
I have a similar type of setup tent like that. We call them "Paraplutent" (which translates to umbrella-tent. From the mechanism at the top)
When it comes to roomy size and great ventilation, you just can't beat the DOD one pole....it too can be sealed, and also waterproof if you get a newer model or seam seal the older fly. It's main con is being like 10 pounds like this one.
When are getting the review for the onetigris 2 person mesh tent? Its too late in the season to even use one in the northeast 😞
Whitsun (also Whitsunday or Whit Sunday) is the name used in Britain, and other countries among Anglicans and Methodists, for the Christian holy day of Pentecost. It falls on the seventh Sunday after Easter and commemorates the descent of the Spirit of Truth upon Christ's disciples (as described in Acts 2).
I would think the reflective side is why they say it's a 4th season tent.
It looks to be an excellent bug shield.
WhitSunday tent company name comes from WhitSunday Islands. Off the coast off Queensland, Australia, in the Great Barrier Reef:
I that price I wouldn’t mind seam sealing it …it would depend on leakage at the zippers. A tarp solves all leakage issues though. You look at tents from an East Coast perspective. I wouldn’t consider this tent if I lived where you do. I’m in California and the tent would do ok in most areas a good portion of the year. Going to check out where the company is located.
You could use seam sealer on it
Whit Sunday is the seventh Sunday after Easter.
he instantly knew he wanted the instant tent lol then he instantly purchased it and proceeded to instantly wait for it to be delivered.
First, this looks like an oversized pop up hunting blind lol. Second, this could go great with a cheap popup tent (or two if you have the space) for pnw fall or winter camping in the coast range.
Hi Luke, I hope you’re doing well. I was wondering if you ever done an review on the Reactive outdoor pop-up tent. If so, can you direct me to the video. Thanks my friend.
I suspect that the inside reflective surfaces are why the manufacturer claims 4 seasons rather than 3. I assume that in cold weather you would have the tent buttoned up, and if so, MAYBE the heat reflective backing might help keep heat in. Just thinking this through, not saying it will work…I also expect this tent will leak like a sieve in bad weather.
You can always seam tape it yourself, you may end up with a very nice tent for the price
If they claim that it's waterproof, prove them wrong
So you bash a Decathlon tent for a simple name (that you misunderstood) wich is otherwise okay for the price and very waterproof and yet, you are positive about this piece of junk for 90 bucks? Hilarious.
This dude ☝️ has a point.
Es lo primero que he pensado. Estoy de acuerdo contigo.
I think that one of the main points of the Decathlon Quechua 2 seconds 3 person Fresh and Black tent review by the Outdoor Gear Review channel was that the ventilation is very poor. I imagine that the 2 seconds pop-up tent could be somewhat stifling in hot and humid conditions with so much fabric on the inner to reduce production costs. Because mesh is expensive. I think maybe the longer than the name implies set-up time was more of a secondary point in the context of the overall review.
It's not perfect but I recently bought the Decathlon 2 Seconds 2 person pop-up tent without Fresh and Black on clearance sale because it only cost around $45. I have not tried it out yet. It's said to be waterproof but with poor ventilation. I think maybe it could potentially be useful someday in mild weather in addition to using other shelters and sometimes utilizing a tarp. I could also use a small camping fan and drink enough water to stay hydrated. Body temperature control is important for safety. I learned that it's helpful to find a well balanced shelter system. I also bought a Decathlon beach shelter, some day packs, and some other things on sale. Last summer I also bought the Decathlon Forclaz 70L backpack. I recently bought both a polyester and a nylon MC Tomount 2 person tent. And I ordered a big tarp and a chest pack as well.
This WhitSunday tent has plenty of mesh for air flow. But it's not very waterproof. So it would have to be combined with a tarp.
Basically it looks like an interesting, decent tent. I'm very curious to see if it is water proof or resistant.
Ok last observation… that tent would be nice for keeping a wood pile dry. So, Oooooool LukeySuzie namaste
The fact that the silver coating is visible from the inside doesn’t mean that it can’t be effective at reflecting heat entering from the outside. It’s the same principle as silvered coatings used on the inside of home attic areas to reflect heat back outside. I don’t know how effective it is but the principle is valid.
The polytaffeta is bound to the silver material...which is silver on both sides like bug out mylar blankets. So you are right.
Sun radiation cuts through the taffeta and is reflected by the insulative silver layer.
Review the OneTigris Jovian!
I know you with this hurricane coming in and western North Carolina is on the bad side of the storm. Forecasters are saying as much as 20” could be possible in the higher mountains of the Blue Ridge along with 50-60 mph winds. All that said PLEASE be careful if you go on an adventure.
Maybe somehow in reference to the Whitsunday Islands???????
For the price I would seam seal it
I’m sure you are correct but to be fair, you really should waterproof test it at least for light rain conditions, just so you can say for sure you fully tested it.
Would you and Susie do a trip and would you try waterproof test
Are you sure YOU can’t stand up inside lol haha I’m vertically challenged myself.
Sounds australian name Theres a place called Whitsundays up north here in oz
This tent looks like a good challenge to see if a totally "Unwaterproof" tent but otherwise a good tent into a waterproof tent by seam sealing it.
Hmmm... black looks more dark blue..
if it rains won't all the water funnel right into the tent???
I wonder how this thing fair in the rain, if the manufacturer claims hold any water (pun wasn't intended, but oh well).
